  1. Caught the Bowfin in the River in front of my house and the 2 Bass from the Lake down the Road this weekend. I love where I live.
  2. Nice CJAM! Was that at RRR?
  3. So which one was the lure, Ha. Do you have rainbows stocked in that lake?
  4. FishTank, I am in the exact same boat as you, down and out a monster fish. Let me begin with a couple weeks ago. It was towards the end of the day fishing my favorite lake and I was fishing a huge deep lay down. I am working a T-Rigged worm super slow, feeling every characteristic on the bottom and throughout the tree. I feel my worm take a little plunge off a drop in between the limbs and I can just feel that this spot is money. I know it is good, and then slam, a fish inhales the worm with a solid thump and I set the hook. Rod bends in half and it is a massive fish, just takes off running. I can feel the weight and it is a big fish for sure. Definitely something bigger than a lot of the 5 and 6 lbers I catch regularly. And then, pop, line snaps. I had just caught a fish before, hadn't retied being lazy, and I knew there was even a few knicks on the line. It hurt. So, I go home, buy myself some 12 pound P-Line Fluorocarbon and get ready for trying to find a fish like this again. Then this last Friday. Exact same time of day at 3:00pm, exact same lay down. I had found the exact drop between the timber and I can just tell this spot is perfect again. Sure enough, bam, fish on and I have a good little fight with a 3.5 lber. Land it, check my line, which has one or two tiny abrasions on it and I think, "Oh, that line will hold. Anyways, what are the chances that I get a monster on the line in the exact same spot." So I trow on another lizard, cast it out and work it down to my hole. I am just letting it soak, for a long time and then, a thick thump, thump. Real in my slack and nail the hook into the fish's mouth. And holy heck, fight is on. Drag just goes ripping. I finally get a little leverage as the fish slows its run and I start to bring this beast out of the depths. ZZZZZZZZ, another big run, with huge, slow head shakes underwater. This monster is ticked. By this time I can tell, this isn't your average bass. The biggest fish I have landed yet was in the low 7's and it was nothing, I mean nothing, like fighting this fish. I start to make a little headway on this fish and then, it just stops. Just shear heavy weight. I couldn't even move this fish, it was just suspended. We are locked as I keep the line tight I prepare for another run as the fish is close to the boat now. Smack, my rod bends like crazy and the hippo takes off again. Then it happened, a loud Snap. Half shocked, my rod snaps straight and I don't know what to do or think, and she is gone. GONE! I don't know if I will ever get a 3rd shot at this fish. It has haunted me all weekend, just laying in bed at night, thinking what if. I feel your pain brother!!!!! OUCH
  5. Hey good luck Bill, looks awesome! I have never fished falls, but hear people rave about it!
  6. I lived in Maui. One of my favorite waves for surfing was where the last guy to die from shark attack on a surfboard occurred. Makes you wonder whats under you out there. However, we all do what we love in life and your chances of being attacked by a shark, let alone die are so very, very, very rare. Go live your life without fear, for we all die someday, when it's our time. My thoughts are with this persons family
  7. I actually caught my PB fish a couple weeks after I started fishing. No weight on her because needless to say I didn't have a scale, however, she was about 24" and I'm guessing between 7-8 pounds. June 29, 2013, 7:30pm. 80 deg F. Clear, sunny evening. Jointed rapala in a small local pond in 4 ft of water
  8. Man, those fish are gorgeous! Awesome color and obviously fat and happy
  9. Dang Dwight I missed it. I have the beer, but should have left yesterday to have made it!
  10. Wish I got the outdoor channel
  11. 6lb 4 oz for the one being lipped. 4lb 6oz for the one next to the rod. Come on cavitron!!! I've actually never used one!
  12. Absolutely astounding! Baccarac seems to be the lake of dreams, but I get the feeling that you gentlemen are quite the anglers too! Fantastic fish guys
  13. Just hearing about your stories gets me all pumped up! 10+ Lb bass, or as Bob Lusk stated, "One in every 25 to 30 million bass!" Simply amazing guys!!!
  14. Ya, I can't wait for the Bass Pro to open! Like a kid in a candy store!!!
  15. While on the topic of jerkbaits, what is your favorite hard jerkbait in 4-6 ft of water for the colder months? I am just starting to throw these and want to learn the way!
  16. I was having a blast catching fish on a buzzbait here in the Piedmont area of North Carolina this fall up until this week. It seems like the top water bite has been shut down for me. Just curious if anyone else is having any luck on top in this area? I don't want to put down my buzzbait here for the winter yet!
  17. I know a lot of guys in our Piedmont area have been having luck with Rapala DT-6 and DT-10 lately. I haven't heard of too many people throwing huge stuff around here. I was having great luck with 3/8 buzzbaits, but it seems like that bite has just stopped for me in the past couple days. I also know of people catching larger fish right now on soft plastic craws and worms.
  18. Thats basicaly all I have been fishing with this fall. My weather here has been overcast for weeks and it has been a blast watching the fish attack on top with my buzz. Thanks to bassresource, I have that thing puring and screaching like crazy, and it certainly works.
  19. I am a spoiled one. I live on a river that is loaded with nice Largemouth, my friend down the road has a fantastic private pond with some fattys in it and I can drive 5 minutes the other way to my favorite lake where there are true monsters (I just need to catch one now). I usually sneak in a quick fishing session every other day if not more often. Yes, it's a good good life!
  20. I have been doing great with top water here, but it is early fall here still in North Carolina. Water temps are in the low 70's still and the mornings and overcast days have been awesome with a buzzbait. As usual in the fall, go shallow! Good luck in old CO!!!!
  21. That is one skinny Largemouth, either sick or couldn't find food properly? I have never caught a fish that emaciated
  22. I caught my first buzzbait fish on my 3rd cast the other morning. A 5 lb Largie.
  23. According to Bob Lusk, Fisheries Biologist guru, Bass have a memory of up to 15 minutes. You should be able to catch the same bass twice in a day. Easier said than done however! That is why we fish
  24. Ya, thanks guys. I will keep working this lake and see what I can learn!!!!
