  1. The BBZ I bought is 4.4oz, to technically I'm only over .4oz. Hopefully the rod is under rated!
  2. I hope I'll be fine. Trying to return the rod at this point would hit me with a 15% restocking fee and the shipping back to Cali If it causes me issues in the future I'll pick up the Okuma, saved it to my favorites.
  3. 250 For Bday. 250 for Christmas. This way you don't need to feel like your spoiling yourself like me....lol
  4. I have a calcutta CT201B, I needed the left hand retrieve! Using 50lb braid. You guys think I should use a mono leader? The water in the lakes I fish is very clear.
  5. My birthday is next month so I treated myself a little early! Going to be my first time fishing a swim bait larger than 6". Hoping for some nice bass pics to post up in the coming weeks
  6. All three pics call for a whole lot of "Woah"
  7. Just got back home a few minutes ago. The fishing was very sloooooooow. I started out with a swim bait that wasn't getting hit so I switched to a spook. I was out there for around 3 hours and caught 2 LM bass, 3.14lb and a 2.64lb. I would've loved to try plastics but I forgot those on the way out. Thanks for the tips everyone!
  8. Thanks for the tips guys, WRB your posts are always so informative going above and beyond any answer I could expect! You are indeed knowledgeable and wise. Now that I have the ass kissing out of the way....I look forward to catching some bass tonight and weighing them with my new scale!
  9. Yea I had a feeling that's what people would say! Lol, I'm going out tonight. Pics later on!
  10. Tonight is pretty much the last night in NY with a low of 55, high of 67 daytime. This is pretty much my last chance to go out and fish before we get a cold front and rain coming through later this week. I've never been night fishing before. Do you guys think It's worth it to fish for a few hours in a large pond 7-9ish at night?
  11. Crap news, rain and wind Whens and Thurs. My only days off work. Part of me wants to just go for a swim with my spear gun. Oh well another time I guess.
  12. What are the outside temps like in Maine right now?
  13. Still have yet to catch a small mouth myself!
  14. Based on your experience and the other posts about "hudd" I just purchased a 6" trout and the 4" weedless, lol. Good luck man and nice fish!
  15. Thanks guys. I've caught 5lbers before, this guy was much bigger. My pictures really did not do a good job of showing off his size. It was hard for me to shoot him at different angles and honestly I wasn't even thinking about it at the time. I barely hooked it in the lip so little damage was done to him. I'm going back to the same pond this Thursday to try and catch him again! Either way the area that I fish is filled with nice size bass so hopefully I can catch a few of decent size photograph and weigh them to get a better estimate of the big boy.
  16. Yea, as soon as I got home I purchased a digital scale and a tape measure. This will never happen to me again.
  17. That a pretty good idea. Will do that!
  18. Here's a few more, probably not going to help though.
  19. Koppers Live Target Bluegill Wake Bait 3-3/4"
  20. Reading that estimate makes me so ticked I didn't even attempt to get a length or width. I was just so excited at the time lol. I just bought a tape measure and digital scale so this never happens again. I can use the line method as a last resort. Thanks for the input though, from now on I know I'll always have a method to get the weight!
  21. Thanks man. You guys think I could potentially catch it again? Its more of a big pond than a lake and all those fish pics we caught in the same area of the pond. Would I have a better chance catching it on a different bait?
  22. Hopewell Junction, NY. Hudson Valley area
  23. I feel like the best way to guess the size of the bass is the mouth shot. That thing was huge!
  24. I really want a mount done, but yea I think I screwed myself on this one. The pictures make it look a lot smaller than it was.
