  1. Hey Joe, Thanks for the info. I've had a couple out on the Charles around my area but again nothing of any size and it's been very inconsistent, or should I say I have been. Not tried Crystal yet, but it has been on the to do list. Was hoping to get out to one of Jigfihn's hot spots in Milton today, but mother nature made sure that didn't happen this morning...
  2. Jigfishn, haha I know the feeling and it's a good one for a while. Until you realize the weeds are a big contributor. Brian, it is my second Cumara and I can't say enough good about them. I've never had such a sensitive rod and I own St Croix also. If you look around you can get them a little cheaper than most places advertised price, but they're never cheap. Hope to be on the water late tomorrow with Cumara in hand!
  3. I have not been out this week, which is killing me as I have a brand new Cumara to get wet. I hope to be on water tomorrow at some point, either real early or end of the day.
  4. 23-24 July I can do either, June I couldn't do.
  5. I just found out that this weekend I will be down the Cape... I can do any weekend after that.
  6. I maybe be coming with a friend of mine if we can get his boat back in the water anytime soon, mechanical issues. If not I may take one of you up on the boat openings. As far as the weekend mentioned I am open and I've never fished Whitehall, but I'm certainly up for the challenge. Until then practice makes perfect and I just bought a new rod to practice with
  7. Yes right at the point.
  8. Thank you! I was fishing the edge of the pads from the West/North shore. Songa, Houghtons Pond is shore fishing only.
  9. What are your favourite jigs for this? I've been stepping up my jig fishing tackle collection, as it is a type of fishing I really enjoy, but haven't decided on a favourite jig brand yet.
  10. Caught today on Houghtons Pond in the afternoon. Thank you Jigfishn10!
  11. Depending on the date, I would like to join you guys. I do have a crazy summer schedule though.
  12. So far this season (as it's sure to change): 1) Baby Brush Hog 2) Super Fluke 3) Spinnerbait (1/2oz White with white skirt that has a little pumpkin and gold mixed in. Coupled with willow and Colorado blades.)
  13. I used to use P-Line on most of my reels, but recently (as the last season or so) switched to Seaguar's Invizx. I really like the line and it has a thinner diameter. But as ***atic mentioned Line and Lure spray is key, I use KVD's and I think it's $9 a bottle. But I wouldn't call it the easiest of lines to manage.
  14. I managed to stop by there again this afternoon/evening. 4 bass nothing picture worthy and 1 pickerel. Caught 2 on Ice White Fluke, 2 White spinnerbait with green and white skirt and senko.
  15. Yeah, or at least that is what it looked like on the far side from where I was.
  16. Tried a small puddle of a pond called New Pond just off one of the RT9 exits I take to get home. Caught one around 2lbs on a jig.
  17. I happened to be in the Milton area today and with a spare couple hours this afternoon, so I headed over to Houghtons Pond. Caught a couple around 1.5lbs-2lbs one on a senko the other on a flappin hog, didn't get to much action other than that. Talking to a couple of others that were on the pond and everyone said it was dead today. I will definitely be back as it's only about 20-25 mins from me.
  18. I drove by Norumbega at lunch time today to check it out. No fishing there the place is all fenced off unfortunately.
  19. I will. Not going to get out there this weekend as I'm gong out to see my mate on Knops pond. I should get out there one night this week though and I'll post on here my trails and tribulations, though if it's a week day it will most likely be from a shore.
  20. Thanks Jigfishn10, I've been out on the Charles a couple times but not had to much luck. Might try to get out on Norumberg this weekend as that's really close to me.
  21. Hello All, I somewhat recently moved to Newton MA, I have lived in MA for a while but not in the Newton area and since moving my quick and easy to get to fishing holes have become, well not so quick and easy to get to. I'm looking for a few places if anyone knows of any, that I can hit in an evening where I don't have to drive to far and I'm able to beat the dark. Thanks.
  22. Thank you for the welcome, and well you've all convinced me into the 50 mg.
  23. Thank you for your recommendations, and I'll let you know what I finally decide on.
  24. I am starting to upgrade all my fishing set ups so I'm prepared to pay a little extra for good tackle, but that does not expand to $600+ Shimano reels with computer chips in them I'm still fairly new to the world of Bass fishing I come from a fly fishing background but since moving to the US some years ago I've become hooked on Bass fishing and feel it is time to take it to the next level and also time to get better and couple more set ups (looking to have 5 rigs by the time season is in full swing) I am planning on buying a St. Croix (really like my other St. Croix rod) AC66MF for my general spinner/crank/jerk bait rod. Now I'm looking for a new reel to match my new rod, the reel will most likely have 12lb mono line spooled onto it. The few I've been looking at are as follows: http://www.basspro.com/servlet/catalog.TextId?hvarTextId=90322&hvarDept=100&hvarEvent=&hvarClassCode=1&hvarSubCode=1&hvarTarget=browse - Fishing buddy has one and I've tried it and liked it http://www.basspro.com/servlet/catalog.TextId?hvarTextId=74125&hvarDept=100&hvarEvent=&hvarClassCode=1&hvarSubCode=1&hvarTarget=browse - Fishing buddy just picked one up from a fishing show we were at. I liked it and almost bought one myself but they had no special show price so figured I'd do some more research first http://www.basspro.com/servlet/catalog.TextId?hvarTextId=68750&hvarDept=100&hvarEvent=&hvarClassCode=1&hvarSubCode=1&hvarTarget=browse - Looked at this one at the same fishing show thought I'd get a few opinions on it. So that should give you an idea of my price range. I would be wanting it in a 6.3:1 or 6.4:1 gear ratio, I've read that 5.1:1 gear ratios are good for crankbaits, I've never used one so have no opinion on the matter and could be convinced either way. I'm not fishing lakes that are all that deep, if that makes much of a difference. Also I have a 7' MH fast baitcaster that I need a new reel for and I was thinking of making the rod a jig/soft plastic rod. I will be spooling this reel with either 12lb or 14lb Fluorocarbon. The 7.0:1 ratio of the Quantum is very appealing for this set up. Any opinions, suggestions, advice and guidance is most appreciated. Although I've hardly posted on here I read and scout the forums a lot and have found this site to be a very good and useful resource. Thank you for your time.
