  1. Hey Guys, I would just like to start my apologizing for falling off the planet. I have been working for a private equity firm as well as full time education and crazy does not sum it up. I do not believe I have fished more than twice this year and both times were for about 2 hours at sunset, by sunset I mean until I really could not see my line in a green light. Grampa, Rhino, Tate and all, I hope all is well. I hope to catch up at some point though I believe 2012 is out for fishing for me. Tight lines and again, sorry! UK bumpkin - AKA Aaron
  2. I am still in, sorry been away and real busy. Haven't had time in front of the computer to post. Let me know what I should bring other than my "non-skunk" karma.
  3. I live very close to Hemlock Gorge and have fished it many times on my way home. The river has never really produced that much for me. There is a little pond section close to route 9 that I've had a few out over 2.5lbs, but it becomes very choked up mid summer.
  4. 17th @ Mashpee Wakeby sounds good to me!
  5. I have to say that chowder is definitely something you New Englander's do best!
  6. Brush Hog, Flappin Hog and Zoom 7" Trick worm, all T-rigged have been my go to baits for the large bite. But I recently have had luck on a couple baits that are new to me, so needless to say they've been added to the arsenal, Space Monkey keel-weighted and Kreature T-rigged.
  7. Gramps date works for me and I would be up for something in the meanwhile. I have had the distinguished pleasure of being completely out fished by two fine gentlemen this week and I would like to thank you Gramps and Rhino for two great days out on the water. I enjoyed the fishing and learned plenty, including adding about 8-10ft to my baitcasting distance (thank you Gramps) Unfortunately, I only have one picture from the two days but I think it speaks for itself.
  8. I have a pretty open week next week (August 01-thru-06) anyone else available for getting a lure or two wet? I can do anytime and any place.
  9. Says a lot about Grundle's personality also...haha!
  10. Or the ways of the Heron...
  11. I am definitely in once again and August is a fairly easy month for me to fit it in to. I also have no problem with an earlier start.
  12. Haha Grundle, the big difference between you and the herring (other than the wings and what not) is that you're fishing for the fun of it and the herring is doing it to survive. Sure the herring got lucky and landed meal of the season, but I think it is fair to say that predatory instincts of survival will more often than not out perform a guy in a boat looking for some fun. I hope you can make the next outing and I will be there for sure.
  13. I would like to second that, I had a great day also gentlemen and learned a lot from the pleasure of riding with Grampa.
  14. I will see you guys in the am!
  15. I will be making it and let me know if anyone has a food and/or beverage request I can bring along?
  16. 6:30-7 on the 23rd sounds good to me. I'll be coming from Newton so not to far for me to go. Aaron
  17. I can make 7/23, but as mentioned would becoming as a non-boater.
  18. Wow that fish must have been a lot of fun on an ultra-light setup. It is a beautiful pond with next to know fishing pressure and some really nice trails around that area also.
  19. Ok, so I searched the forums and googled it also, but couldn't find a decent map of the water depths of the Quabbin to print out, anyone got a link? I have Tuesday off and I am thinking of heading out to the Quabbin for a day of fishing, very excited to sit in a boat ALL DAY and do nothing but fish, did I mention ALL DAY!! I've not fished the Quabbin so any help or advice would be much appreciated also, thanks! Aaron
  20. Congratulations sir! That is a very fine fish.
  21. Oh I just skunked myself with that last comment, I know it...
  22. Yeah no problem. I haven't managed to accumulate more than 4-5 hours of fishing in the last two weeks and in that time nothing picture worthy... Should have a little more time in the next week though. Watch this space for lunkers :-)
  23. If we are still aiming for July 23-24 I would like to take one of you gentleman up on your back of the boat offers.
  24. There is a number of good shoreline openings around the pond. There is a beach with a car park on the Sudbury side and paths going around.
  25. I will also second the tales of monster pike in Chestnut Hill Reservoirs, as I've heard the same tales. I haven't fished either places though so not much good to you there. I have fished Walden a number of times as I used to live in Concord. There are some good smallmouth in there but quantity has never been that good in my experience. I would recommend Whites Pond, which is out that way (Sudbury/Concord line), as having much better quantities of smallmouth. I've had some really nice largemouth out of Warrens Pond in Concord but you'd need a canoe/kayak on Warrens.
