Eastern Mass Get Togethers - 2012 Season

Ok guys. The holidays are upon us, and 2012 is just around the corner.

Last year was a good start for our get togethers, but now is a good time to start thinking about next year's schedule. What should we change? What would you like to see?

While we are not a formal club, we do need some type of structure and input. Gramps, Tate and I have some ideas, but it's not our show, and we want input from all.

We can do some of it via the messenger feature on the forum, or email. Participation in the messaging feature is limited to seven members. You designate a recipient and can add up to five others, making a total of six, plus yourself making a group of seven.

Email has unlimited participation.

Let's hear from all those interested in the get togethers for 2012.

p.s. It's not limited to Mass fishermen, nor is the group limited to Mass waters. It's what you want it to be. March is only three months away for the hardy souls, April four months away.

Finally got my first from shore today, Box Pond, Bellingham. 14" 1.5lb LMB.................well it's a start...

  • I would be very interested in fishing some more of these. If you guys wouldn't mind me participating in some of the 2012 outings I would be more than appreciative?

  • I'm in southern NH but would be interested in joining you guys.

We would really appreciate more boaters participating...do we need to add a competition factor to get you to join? Perhaps a "Big Fish" aspect. We need some input....anyone...anyone...

What Grampa, Tate, and I would like to see happen is to get input from everyone who is interested in participating in the "get togethers". This would involve a meeting or two ahead of next year's season for all interested parties. All decisions would be by consensus of those attending the meeting(s).

I would be interested in any around my way. I'm in the south east of ma.

I'm in Westport. You cannot get anymore southeast in Mass than that. Since I plan on making them all, you're welcome to ride along.

The furthest we've fished has been just over an hour from here, Webster Lake and Quinsigamond. Mashpee/Wakeby where we fished this past year is just about an hour.

I would like to try to fish a few with you guys. one thing for me is I can only fish Sunday's(work Sat). As a non boater I think that you definitely need to cater more to the guys with boats as without them there is no get together. The idea of a "reward" for big fish is a great one. make's the ballbusting all the more fun. just don't make it too much. I would think $5 for big fish entry would be enough to make it fun. or maybe everyone has to put in a lure or something. a meeting would be a great idea and I'd be willing to attend.

if someone sets up some dates i can work my schedule around it no prob and i would love to learn as much as i can from you guys

All we are looking for right now is interest, not commitments. Scheduling these things is not easy, that's why a meeting of any and all interested fishermen/women is important. Gramp, Tate and I don't mind doing a bit of organizational stuff to get things started, but it's up to all to see that we hit the ground running before next spring. The invite is out, and the door is open. All you have to do is walk through it and have your say.

When are you guys thinking of having a winter meeting to hash out logistics, etc? Where as well? I would love to try to make it, as long as I can work it around my family and business. I think it would be a great idea, as I would like to meet you guys before we get on a boat for the day.

Maybe late Jan or sometime in Feb? That might help to break up the winter.

It'll be great having you along Deak...some tentative locales this year are Merrimack, Connecticut and Charles Rivers, along with some from last year. But...But...We are constantly looking for input from EVERYONE.....Grampa

We should think about getting together for a meeting soon. I'm assuming at least 2 meeting will be needed to hammer things out. Plus, it would give us a chance to meet and greet some new folks.

Derrick, I can meet you half way and you can ride with me if you want?

I PM'd Rhino the other day but i just aquired a new boat....a better boat for all those familiar with my last one. its a 1990 bass tracker with a 50 HP on the rear, great shape everythings been rebuilt or replaced/upgraded so I'm real happy about it. So this year I am going to be 100% a boater and can take someone with me. So it will help.

Also i think last post i suggested the charles river and i saw that gramps posted something higher up about it and im all for it. I miss fishing rivers and i thinks a really relaxing and enjoying time.

So yes I will be 100% (140% if you are russian) this year and probably will be to every outing and then some.

I work with a guy who owns a Bass Cat and he wants to attend. I'm trying to get him on the forum. Unfortunately he comes into work just as I'm leaving, so our conversations are very short. I know he is interested though.

great news Grundle...now I don't have to worry about being beaten in my own boat.....unless I pull Jiggy......or Jonesie......or Freebie......or.......

Not unless you can get me on a 4.8 lber like Rhino did...LOL, JK...I'll fish with whoever would like to have me on their boat. I'm sure we'll have a lot of fun.

depending on how the next few months go I might be a boater also. probably won't be the newest prettiest model but it sure is gonna go fast...building myself a 200 johnson with a little something special under the cover. waiting to find the right hull to put it on for the right price.
