Jig Fishing Questions
Wow I just read the first page where Joe posted that long tutorial! That was great. I know its several years after it was written but I am glad I checked this topic. I just bought some jigs with different color skirts and had no idea how to use them properly. Great info on this topic!

Kayak Vs Jon Boat
Those Gheenoe seem pretty darn cool. They seem to be stable and you can put a motor on them. I don't know from experience but the videos I've seen on them and everything, that is what I am leaning towards. Lightweight at about 120 without motor, you can get a 13, or 15 footer, its stable, you can customize the heck out of em and brand new they go for 1000 for the 13 footer. On Craigslist they are cheaper. Look into them that might be a good middle ground between a yak and a jon. What do you all think?

Best Rewards Credit Card For Anglers?
I've got a blue amex. I get points for every purchase. You can use them on amazon, or you can get gift cards from different places. Works pretty good for me, I buy from Amazon quite a bit.

Yup we are spoiled and so are the bass lol. I tried tropical park again today with lizards and nothing. I was jerking it at a snails pace. Maybe next time!

Bass On Lizards?
I went to walmart and found a Luck E Stike Lizard Kit with 27 lizards (4 colors), and a few worm hooks for 5 bucks. I caught 3 bass with a slow jerk. 2 on a rootbeer color and 1 on a green pumpkin with a bright green tail. Texas Rigged to get me through the heavy cover. With a nice bullet weight I was launching that thing a good distance.

Chinese Crankbaits
I did not pay extra. I was actually surprised because I made an order 1 day and then another the next day. The first order came rather quickly within a 10 days. The second batch took longer and just arrived yesterday. I wasn't in a hurry so even at 30 days I rather pay 1 or 2 dollars for a lure that at some point I may lose than pay 5-10 on a lure. Kind of on a budget right now. Eventually when I can I'll go get me some brand named stuff just to have it. But for now these will do the job.

Florida Bass Fishing - January Edition
Haha yeah, the thing is I didn't have the right bait and gear to get into the lily pads on the north side of the north lake. I knew there were going to be fish in there. I just needed to go weedless and the tackle I had the first time I went there was top water cranks. I came prepared this time with soft plastics, worm hooks and bullet weights. I'm new to the freshwater scene so I didn't even know there were special hooks for worms, or heck how to even set up the worm properly. Watched some videos and now I know how to set up a texas rig. The other difference is before I was using a 40 lb mono leader I had bought for saltwater fishing. Now I've gone to 20lb floro. I'm sure those bass were seeing my 40lb mono and just laughing at me. I'm really getting into fishing and it's quickly becoming an addiction, which is a good thing!

Florida Bass Fishing - January Edition
I hit tropical park at 10 am and about 3 casts in I caught my first one. Caught them all with lizards, I switched to worm at one point and nothing was happening so I switched back and caught the other 2 with rootbeer colored lizard. 3 total, they weren't huge but they put up a mean fight in the lily pads.

Anyone used those lip grip scales? Any real advantage over the regular digital scales?

Florida Bass Fishing - January Edition
I don't have a fish scale. But he was about 14 inches long. I made 2 others, I need to take a pic of. It's pretty cool using your own. I guess it's more of an accomplishment when I land a fish on it. The other two are a bit more complicated. I went for a baby bass look and a baby bluegill. I will post later.

Looking To Build Some 110 Jerkbaits From Blanks
So I painted a few of the popper jr's i got from predatorbassbait. They swim great, they make all kinds of ruckus in the water! So I went the cheap route. Acrylic Paint and Nail Polish. I couldnt bring myself to buy an airbrush and compressor. So I started with the acrylic and a polyurithane sealer for outdoor. After putting the lure in my sink and rubbing it with my finger the sealant came off and my paint did as well. So I went to walgreens and bought a top coat gloss. Yes it's slightly uncomfortable buying nail polish but whatever. It works! I painted with acrylic, then put 2 layers of top coat gloss. Sealed it right up. Used them today in the lake and they worked great. All in all, I spent about 15 on the lures, hooks, split rings, eyes and about 20 on paint, top coat and some brushes. I have enough paint to last me a bit and nail gloss as well.

Lake Osborne seems to be a pretty good spot for Largemouth. I caught one, and had 2 others come up on my baits but missed. The first was in Lily pads, the bass came up and tried to grab my worm but missed it. I left it there and jerked it some more but he didnt want to go for a second attempt no matter how many times i cast it to the same spot. Then I had one come up on my home made top water popper. Just as I jerked the popper it came up and missed. I let it sit there and it didnt try again.

Chinese Crankbaits
I gave one of them to a buddy of mine who loves fishing and fishes lures even in saltwater. He tested it out today @ Lake Osborne with me and he said the action on it is great. So I feel more comfortable with my initial analysis. In fact he went and bought a bunch as soon as he got home lol.

Florida Bass Fishing - January Edition
I must be doing something wrong. I went to 8 street canal by FIU and didn't catch anything. I tried a top water frog, 2 different worms (one dark one light) and a crankbait. I could see fish hit the top of the water to feed on minnows. Saw a manatee in there too lol. That thing was GIANT!

Chinese Crankbaits
Alright so my review on them lures! Got out there today and gave em a try. All 3 had great action. Slowly reeling in the lures moved very well. Cranking the lures was excellent as well. You could feel the vibration as the bait moved. The treble hooks aren't great. I got hung up one of the three sides broke off. I got 2 tugs on it, missed both fish, didn't set the hooks and the lures were spit out. The hooks are sharp so I have to blame that on me. Overall If I have to buy some good Mustad hooks to replace them it is still well worth the investment. I think these lures are going to help me catch some fish pretty soon!

I was hoping to get out there today and give them a try but its been raining all day.

Fail... So I got my paint and started painting 2 of my lures. They were looking real nice. Not airbrush nice but still nice. Then I put some glitter glue on them and I think I didn't let it dry enough. When I put my gloss sealer coat and left it for an hour to dry I came back to one of them and rubbed it a little and the sealer peeled right off alone with some of my paint. Live and learn. More drying next time, and possibly a different sealer. Perhaps I will try a topcoat nail polish.

I woke up an hour early, opened my front door, went back inside and went back to sleep. LOL. Got up an hour later and went to work. Didn't make it out but I did pass by the place near work that looked perfect for bass fishing, and of course the department of transportation of all government entities has signs all over saying No Trespassing.

Florida Bass Fishing - January Edition
Hmmm, fishing before work, that sounds good. My job is right next to a canal, I just need to cross the street and fish. I think I might give that a go... Or heck I might even try for lunch. I'm sure my coworkers will think I'm a crazy person but whatever! LOL

Looking To Build Some 110 Jerkbaits From Blanks
Got my popper jr's from predatorbassbaits so hopefully tomorrow my acrylics and brushes arrive. I'm excited about getting these painted and even if they don't look as nice as the real deal expensive lures, I can at least say I painted them. If I catch fish with them, I can say I painted them and they work lol.
