  1. Let me say that was a ton of fun! Heck he wasn't even all that big and put up decent fight. It's a shame it was the only one I caught with a spinner bait. But I got my new arsenal of stuff coming in tomorrow and I can't wait to try it. Caught this guy at 97th ave (Snapper Creek)
  2. Good deal Jonny! Thanks for the info, I'm probably going to give that spot a try soon.
  3. Jonny did you pull up any fish? I would love to hit that spot, get some snook and tarpon! I bet there is some largemouth bass in there too but it might be to close to the saltwater. I just looked it up on google maps and found a few places to park and pull up to the canal. Looks like an excellent spot. Being so close to Biscayne Bay, this time of year, the Tarpon and Snook are moving into the canals!

    Welcome Gary!
  5. I bought some sizmic toads online and hoping they work! Anyone use those before? Got some worms as well, can't hurt to try different things. BassPR sounds like you are in the same area as me. I tried out Snapper Creek the other day which is south of where you fish. Take 97th ave all the way down till you hit the canal. I didn't even feel a bite in that canal. I tried a spinner, some grub, a worm, and then I switched to a small minnow. Not a darn thing touched my bait. I guess I'll need to buy me some lizards, seems to be a favorite on this forum!
  6. Jonny you're brave if you're going out to the everglades alone. I probably wouldn't go without someone, but heck if you're comfortable and confident you should be ok. Just stay away from the gators when you catch those big bass! Good luck to you and hope you catch a ton of real big fish!
  7. Thanks everyone! Glad to see such a great helpful forum with such nice people! BassinLou, thanks for the info! Guess I'll be hittin' Tropical Park up again soon to see what I can pull out of there since it's so close to home. Sam I sure do have it made here in South Florida. Though we get more UM and FIU coeds than FSU ones. But you're right, just about everything bites down here, and year round!
  8. Hey there everyone! I'm Rick, so about 3 weeks ago a buddy of mine told me, hey lets do some fishing while we are up here in Jupiter for work. I said, sure why not? Got to admit, I felt foolish at first, I hadn't been fishing for almost 10 years. Well turns out I'm hooked! Pun intended. So my buddy takes me out there to do some fishing and a catch a couple small snapper. Then we go out to the pier and try again, but end up with a couple small blue runners. Nothing worth keeping. We head to Tampa for work and try our luck in the gulf. I end up with a couple more small fish but standing there feeling the bites got me all pumped up. Saturday we hit up Jupiter inlet and I caught me a nice 15" Red, of course he was a nice size but had to be thrown back in because of size restrictions. We then hit up a national park north of jupiter where I almost got me a nice big fat snook. Lost the sucker right near the boat. Now I figured I would go do some channel and lake fishing in my area since my friend lives about an hour and 30 min from me. I'm not to far from Snapper Creek and Tropical Park. Tried my luck out there in Snapper Creek and ended up with 0 bites early in the morning. Headed over to Tropical Park and caught 3 Bass with a small spinner, but I don't think they have very many big fish in that lake. All 3 where about 7 and 8 inches in length and skinny. I'm on here to try and learn as much as possible, get some good advice and hopefully make fishing the hobby I've been looking for! If anyone has recommendations for places to fish in the heart of Miami or out in the Florida Everglades I would love to hear them. It would have to be shore fishing too, I don't own a boat.
