  1. Ok so I got the first batch of 3 lures from wlure. They look pretty decent, the hooks also look ok. For a dollar I cant complain about the look of the lure. I will give a real review once I try them out to see how the action is on them. They are fairly see through, and I can see they have 4 rattles inside which is great cause they make a ton of noise.
  2. Back at work so my weekday fishing is going to slow down drastically. Heck MCS if you can go, then go for it! You never know they might be hungry. Throw some worms at em lol.
  3. Oh i was thinking Fresh water. Largemouth. I'm new to freshwater fishing. I've done plenty of saltwater so I'm pretty good in that department.
  4. Well I went out today at 2pm right after a rainshower. Sun came out and I said, time to go fishin'. Well I went down to the canal on 157 ave and about 144st which is like country walk or something. Didn't see any fish, and didnt get any bites. Tried a worm, toad, and a spinner. Then went to the canal behind the falls mall. I actually saw fish there. Several panfish (guy next to me with a kid catching them) and I saw some big ol carp but I didn't see any bass. I tried there till just after dark. Finally got a few bites on a worm but I don't think they were big enough to eat the entire thing, they basically ripped my worms in half. Oh well, lol gotta keep trying!
  5. Jonny whats a good bait to use for night fishing?
  6. Congrats on the boat, it's real nice! Also thanks for starting this topic, it should be fun posting our stuff on here. Like Lou I was unable to go out yesterday due to rain all day. I'm hoping today will stay decent so I can try and catch some decent fish!
  7. Just signed up! Thanks.
  8. Yeah he already shipped my stuff, I was very impressed.Hopefully I will be impressed with the quality of the lures when I get them!
  9. I like to paint, so naturally I got drawn to the idea of painting my own lures. I went ahead and bought some inexpensive lures. About .30 cents per from predatorbassbaits which he calls practice lures because they may have a very small defect like a glue fingerprint on them and can't sell them at full price. Claims they swim so that's a good start. Figured I would go real cheap on the first ones I make. I'm also going to be painting with acrylic and brushes. I know the recommended method is airbrush but I don't have a garage or place to airbrush. I actually spent more money on the treble hooks and paint than on the lures.
  10. Still using them and making your own lures?
  11. Curious to see how they performed.
  12. LOL the only fish I actually saw were some giant suckerfish looking things along the bank. I tried around lilypads and other heavy green areas, I tried out in the center of the canal, along the bank, all attempts were futile. You wouldn't have caught anything with that casting net either. I didn't even see baitfish.
  13. Went out there today, tried a dark rage tail worm, a topwater jerk lure and a topwater frog. Not one hit. epic fail. Oh well maybe next time.
  14. Great advice guys! I appreciate the input! So since I did buy them I will let you know how they work when I get them. Good thing is they ended up being the price of a regular priced lure at basspro so not much money down the drain if they stink.
  15. I'm going to hit up Tamiami Trail Canal tomorrow with my dad. He loves fishing but he's a saltwater fisherman. I'll report back in the afternoon!
  16. Raul that is a good point. The swim action is the most important piece there, at least the hooks can be changed if needed. Maxximus, that was exactly what I was thinking, though of course I am sure the mainstream companies have standards to make sure their gear is top notch. I bought one of those Heddon Properler lures and the darn thing would hook itself to everything. Those hooks were no joke! I went ahead with the purchase, heck if they stink I'll be down 7 bucks, not a big deal. If they are good though, I am going to buy a bunch more. They also sell blanks to make your own and paint them, that seems pretty cool!
  17. Hi everyone! Happy New Year! So I was looking into crankbaits and came across some very inexpensive plastic lures on dhgate.com. My question is has anyone purchased crankbaits from there? They have several lures going for $1-2 dollars that look very nice. With these you have to buy at least 3 lures but even at a dollar each that's 3 bucks. I plan on buying a few but wanted to see what y'all thought about it as well.
  18. Good info Jonny, thanks for the fishing report!
  19. Great vids and info!
  20. Oh this sounds like a heck of a vacation! Not sure if I'll be able to make it. Gotta find the most cost effective way to get there and if I did go I would definitely be looking to do the roomie system! Would anyone in the Miami area be interested in carpooling in a rental? Split the cost of Gas and Rental.
  21. Yeah just as I suspected. Well, hopefully within the next 6 months I can get me something like the sun dolphin 2-man pro 10.2 to hit the spots I can't hit now.
  22. Hey Shane are there any spots on Blue Lagoon for shore fishing? I'd love to give that a try but haven't got a boat. I also been lookin on google maps and can't find any open areas that I can post up and do some fishing without getting kicked out.
  23. Sorry to hear that SirSnookaLot. I had several blowups at tropical park as well with a mini torpedo but they didn't hit. Then I lost the dang thing in the cattails with one of them wacky casts that go out of control, was not happy! Roadwarrior : Yeah like Shane said they were stocked, and apparently the project went well. But I did hear that when we had our last "cold front", some of our crops froze over and stuff, couple years ago, a lot of the peacocks died in broward and north of broward. They are native to the amazon and don't do well in the cold. They get HUGE down there in the amazon. Check out addictive fishing on youtube. They have an amazon episode and they catch some monster ones. They have 3 species over there as well. Speckled, Butterfly (which is what we have here) and Blue peacocks I believe.
  24. Oh snap! Captain Shane, I had no idea you were on this forum! I've watched all of your youtube vids! Love your stuff! I've learned a ton from just watching the way you cast, and work your jigs on the videos. Keep em coming!
