  1. I’m curious as to how long the clutch would last throwing 4 ounces, so if you do, please report your experience.
  2. Learn to line watch, you can use a clear blue/fl line in a co-poly or mono or a bright braid if you prefer. Certainly a rod with high sensitivity is also useful. Watching your line is still the best way to detect a plastic worm bite in my experience. Fingers on the line is very useful particularly at nighttime, especially with jig fishing. WRB’s favorite bite detector.. Also I want to add something else, contrary to popular belief, a clear blue line will not deter a bite from large, largemouth bass 😎
  3. Went to In Fishermen and couldn’t help but see Wheeler won again. He’s gotta be the hottest fisherman on earth
  4. Powerbait hands down for me.
  5. Texas rigged Senko Jig w GY twin tail grub Lucky Craft BDS 2 1/4-3/8 Excalibur pop r (spinning) 1/4 oz spinnerbait
  6. I like a short crown cap referred to as a “dad hat” or my Stetson wool-felt crushable..
  7. Soft jerks or hard & what is the size you’re throwing?
  8. The 103 model was my first Daiwa reel after 20 years using Shimano. It was a terrible experience. I returned it and only after many many discussions with bulldog did I order a Zillion 1016 SV, an absolutely trick little reel, then an Zillion HD, then 2 more Zillion HD’s, then Zillion SV USDM (because it’s brass geared) and finally a Tatula 200 Coastal w hyper everything. I’ve added SV boost shallow spool to this collection (34mm) which I can install on every reel listed except the Coastal. Spool is 11 grams in weight and absolutely will handle 1/8 ounce with proper mechanics (set up & casting stroke).. totally handles 3/16 easily. All of this to say, don't judge Daiwa on the 103 model.. that reel definitely has something off on it and I don’t know if a bad batch of reels made it thru or what. I’m very pleased with them, all things considered. Also, I too had to learn the different braking profiles of these reels, thanks to Ron I understand them quite well now.. One more thing, the HD reels are fast, amazing speed on pitching.
  9. I have the GLX 844c, it’s a bit soft to me for a 1/2 ounce w trailer jig. Works well around broken rock, sand & loose rock etc. Better for 3/8 and very good on 1/4. I like a stiffer tip myself, an actual dragging style tip. It’s just a different philosophy on bite detection with the softer tip. Some people love that about it. I like a rod that is stiffer in the tip, one that can handle a 1/2 ounce in moderate grass. It’s a very sensitive rod, 10 guides plus tip all SIC. Around 4.5 ounces. Swing speed is excellent imo. Slack line bite detection is awesome, a great Senko rod. Rod recommendations are somewhat difficult because of obvious reasons. If a bit softer tip isn’t a detriment to you, you can’t go wrong with one. I actually like my 7’5” F&P for 1/2 to 3/4 ounce as the tip is perfect for me, however it’s a niche rod being an nearly exclusive flip & pitch rated 20-25 and extra heavy, therefore it’s swing speed is slower.. I love the rod despite that. I like the GLX rods quite well.
  10. It’s possible Edge could have something that would work for you, but I totally understand not being thrilled with Treys new South Korean blanks. I ordered a spinning in ML 7’ & it’s fine at the $200 price point but they’re not even close to Gary’s blanks. I’d probably advise a custom build with the guides & reel seat you love if you can actually determine a blank (very hard to know) been in your shoes before, hope you find it.
  11. I wonder if it will be available on ROKU..
  12. I understand this. It’s the engineering details that many of us enjoy. Ultimately I’d just spool it up and fish it.. I wouldn’t get too riled up over an erroneous spec sheet. If you really want a reel (Daiwa) for large diameter FC or Braided line get you a Tatula Coastal 200. It’s practically a Zillion HD with a massive spool that is 1000% better casting than anything Shimano makes. I’ve used the Tranx 300 & 500. The Daiwa is just a better caster..
  13. Made my pics & updated my tiebreaker weights.. I coming after you scaleface 😆🍻
  14. Not at all interested in any DC reel.
  15. My son uses BPS glass rods, he owns two, I don’t care for them. I’ve used glass since about 92. Currently I own an Evergreen Super Combat Glass & Loomis IMX Heavy Moderate fast. Both are more than capable for bladed jigs & crankbaits. I use a 1 power glass rod for lighter work.
