  1. If I had just one Combo I would opt for the faster reel. You can always slow it down. Brian

I'm no expert but I've tried all the big name ones and I landed on suffix 832.
  3. Mike D of lunkerville is a member on the site and Glenn fished with Mike on an episode near Glenn's home base. Great show! Brian
  4. Congrats! Must be a awesome feeling. Brian
  5. Laughed my but off through the entire thread. Well done guys. Brian

Just got the Bassmater with the 100 best bass fisheries and it's got Erie as #3 specifically the 20 mile Buffalo shoreline. Mentioned it was sill a little icy and that could make the coming fishing that much better. My brother just moved to Rochester just miles from lake Ontario. I plan on hitting both great lakes this year. I can't wait! Good fishing! Brian
  10. Sounds like if u stay off there property you'll be fine. There's a nice state owned pond by me with limited shore access and the best spots being the backyards of the four homes on the pond. My buddies family owned all four houses and we were allowed to fish in his and his grandparents yards. His family had been trying to sell his grandparents house but we were still allowed to fish it. We didn't realize that it had sold a week before and we were greeted by a very grumpy older gentlemen giving us an earful. So we moved over 30 feet to my buddies. Good luck. Be safe, some people are nuts. Brian
  11. That's awesome. Congrats on the great day! I also have learned a ton on here, and have only been on a few months. Everyone is super knowledgeable and friendly. Thanks so much. Brian
  12. Went to Saltonstall Sunday. I had a rough day and didn't put anything in the boat. I went with a couple buddies one had a good day catching 3 lmb from 14-17in and my other buddy got a chunky 16 incher. Slow presentations seemed best mostly wacky senkos. The lake is very high and muddy. Maybe a foot visibility. Brian
  13. Good luck subchaser. I'm also going out tomorrow. Maybe the housy, maybe mondo ponds not quite sure yet. Good luck too yeah and welcome to the site. Brian
  14. Got out today for a half hr before work with my buddy at a local trout spot near Quinnipiac university (Clark's pond). Third cast in my buddy lands a 22in pickeral on a tiny inline spinner. Only fish we got, but it was good for being there only 25 mins.
  15. I've been doing ok. Got a couple LMB, a bunch of CP, handful of crappie and a pair of brownies. Fish have been looking healthy very colorful. Water temps seem to be in the mid to low 40's . Slow presentations seem to be working. Try wacky rigs or jerkbaits Luke the hj-6.
  16. Hey guys I've got this great little lure, a Arbogasts lil-bass. It's a soft body and about 3 1/4in long. It was a great bait in till it lost a hook, it should have another two pointed hook hanging next to the current one.I really love the bait and would love to know if anyone knows anything about them. Also where I can get more if there not to expensive. Thanks Brian
  17. Just got my first bait caster this year. It's an older model Shimano bantam. Im fairly certain you can learn on any decent bait caster and it sounds like you got a great deal. I also picked up a used BPS bait caster and live them both. Ive been spending a lot of time at the baseball fields by my house practicing with my casting plugs. I've watched all fluke masters videos and talked to a couple guys on. I loaded one with 30lb braid and the other with 65lb braid. It seems to me that it's much easier to pick out the braid if you end up bird nesting. Remember to set the gears for each specific lure(my biggest problem lol). Good luck and stay with it. Only a couple months in and my confidence is soaring, I love it! Brian
  18. CT here. Went out bank fishing a couple time and have got a total of 6 pickerel. Not exactly bass but I'll take it. Just starting to warm up for the bass here in southern Connecticut, can't wait to get into them.
  19. Picking up of late. Got out last couple days. Did well tossing the jerk bait. Mostly pickerel but that's better then nothing. Crappie and sunny also active. Bass were small. Felt good to get back out there.
  20. I didn't think you could catch carp on lipless cranks. I thought they only went after dough balls and such. Interesting topic, up intill now I thought they were a boring catch. I'm hoping to land my first this year, might have to target them some outing this year. Brian
  21. Hey Gino. Glad to have you here. Fellow tri stater myself. Seems like you'll be able to teach as much as you learn here. Unfortunately being a newbie to bass fishing I don't bring much to the table lol. That's a crazy looking bass. And should outs on the hat. Good fishing! Brian
