I don't think there really is a "best" line for top waters, ask 5 different people and you'll get 5 different answers. I use 10-25# straight mono because it works best for me, but I can't fault somebody who likes braid, braid w/ a mono leader, or whatever. Experiment with different options and see what you like best.

For me, pink is a mandatory color to have when smallmouth fishing. Largemouth like it too

Truth. Plus whipping the rod is harder on your body, I know from experience. Pulled muscles and shoulder pain are no fun As others said, learn how to adjust your reel and use the right rod. Also, when starting out, throw baits on the heavier end of your rods rating, it's much easier in my opinion.

Pretty much everything "excluded" from the sale is actually included, they just can't advertise as such. The one big exception is Megabass

As mentioned above, illinois provides some pretty good options close to StL, frank Holten and horseshoe are very close and offer surprisingly decent fishing, at least in my experience.

I love throwing big worms in the summer! My my go to 3: Zoom ol monster (the legend) Culprit fat max (little more body, I like to tell myself it's a big fish worm but lil guys chew it too) Uptons straight tail 10 or 13" (fished like a big shaky head)

I've always heard about the Cavitron but never actually fished one. With the 4th sales starting I think I'll grab a few. Prob leave a couple as is and tinker with one as well.

Aren't all buzzbaits top water baits? Anyway, I'm a big fan of the Zorro Headknocker

Major Craft makes nice rods. Their economy models like the Corzza offer a lot of bang for your buck in both the performance and style department. I havent fished the Tatula but I'd imagine it's a good rod as well

Got out briefly this afternoon after work with the FMJ and must say I'm impressed. Tossed a 3/8 jig and a t-rigged beaver and it handled both nicely using 16# sniper. As a guy who often fishes small waters out of a John boat or kayak, a versatile rod is a must for me, and I think this one fits the bill. Can see myself using it for spinners, bladed jigs, small swimmers and flukes in addition to its prescribed applications. I have a feeling this rod will be perfect for dragging worms this summer as well. *In full disclosure, I've nevered fished an NRX but d**n this FMJ is sensitive.

Yea, I'm pretty much helpless against the powers of holiday sales.

I've found most all the Shad type colors to work equally well. Pick a couple you like and go with it, you'll see results

I understand where you are coming from, but them being sold out is an inherent risk of waiting in order to save a few bucks. As far as your experience with their customer service rep, I'd guess they have been instructed to not leak anything prior to the public announcement. And for for what it's worth, I myself am planning to place and order including some limited items, so fingers crossed for both of us

This is one of my concerns, I'm afraid I'll get the Chimaera then they'll release a Destroyer in the same configuration. Naturally, I'll then want the destroyer too . Might just flip a coin between the FMJ and Chimaera and stick with the results lol

I was looking to get a Destroyer FMJ but got turned on to the XXX Chimaera, due to price as well as the fact the Chimaera is a few inches shorter. I might end up still getting the FMJ though, just wish I had more feedback from folks on the XXX series
