25% off Megabass Orochi XX rods at tackle supply depot, must put in cart to see discount. Considering MBs strict pricing rules for retailers, we don't see many sales on these rods. If you've been wanting one, then now is the time to pull the trigger

Anyone seeing changes in Cabelas stores that they've been to?
We have a cabelas and bps close to each other here in St. Louis but I haven't seen any changes...yet. Though in all honesty I don't buy much fishing gear from either, both are more expensive than online sources, hell they are even more expensive than the local places which seem to have better stuff anyway.

BRAIDED LINE SUGGESTIONS...
OP I think your current line choices are spot on. I use the same on similar setups. I've tried various braids over the years, and to be honest most all have performed well for me. I just stick with power pro now because its readily available and you can find good deals on it from time to time

Daiwa Rod broke. Warranty?
I thought you only had a broken rod? What's wrong with the other rod and the reel?

Review: Teckel Sprinker Frog vs. Homemade Teckel Sprinker Frog
Bend the hooks out on the sprinker a little bit and you'll see a dramatic increase in hookup ratio. This will slightly decrease the weedlessness but I found to get the full effect of the tail you don't want to throw it in super heavy slop anyway. It's more of a sparse pads/weeds and wood type frog. That said, I really like the conversion you did, I might try it on a koppers or spro frog.

Topwater poppers
You can use braid, just put on a mono leader and you are set. The pop max is probably my favorite popper these days, I usually do a mixed retrieve of popping, walking, and letting it sit still, which seems to work well. If you find yourself liking this bait, DO NOT go looking at the Japanese tackle sites full of cool/limited colors, doing so could be very dangerous for your wallet haha

E6x or Bass X
That would be a great combo

E6x or Bass X
I'm not big on Loomis, but if I got this discount I'd definitely take the plunge on an NRX. Do it

Anyone else experience this with the Whopper Plopper?
Yes I've had a lot of fish hooked like this or in the head, especially smallmouth. Seems brown bass aren't super accurate with a slow moving top water bait, and much less so a fast mover such as the plopper.

Thats why you go in with a friend to buy multiples. I ordered 5 split with a bud so they ended up at $30 each, still a great deal. Even if you buy one, I believe $50 for the rod/s&h is a good value

Found a good deal on one of my favorite topwater baits in one of my favorite colors, added tubes for free shipping. Apparently USPS delivers on Sundays...

Not sure if its been mentioned, but Powell has some Diesel rods on clearance at $24.99. I know these aren't super high end but I've had positive experiences with the Diesel series, which never should've been replaced with the Nusance IMHO

Is cooler weather (low 70's/high 60's) too cold for shallow river fishing?
Unless it's iced over, there is no such thing as too cold! The weather as described by OP sounds perfect to me

Checked out a newish place off a rural Missouri highway I'd passed several times now. I couldn't believe how much good stuff they had, I'll be back

Dobyns Sierra Power Ratings
Mainly shaky head, tubes, and lighter texas rigs-so kind of an all around spinning set up for light to mid weight plastics. I'm currently leaning towards the SA 703SF model, but was also considering the 702SF

Thanks for the quick and thorough response my friend! This was the kind of info I was looking for.

Dobyns Sierra Power Ratings
Hey all, can anyone confirm for me that the Sierra ratings are similar to other Dobyns in that they fish a little light? I did a search but with this series still being on the newer side there isn't a ton of info out there. I'd really appreciate any input ya'll have to offer

Lets talk tube set ups
My go to tube setup is a Daiwa Alphas SV paired with a Major Craft Nanoace Don Iovino rod. 15# PP with a 8 or 10# floro leader, though I have been experimenting with straight floro and have had nice results. Don't really throw any tubes over 3.5" on this rig though and mainly use it on Ozark rivers

Tackle backpacks
Seems the fishing packs are designed to hold too much stuff and become somewhat heavy and cumbersome, which seems to defeat the whole purpose of using a backpack to carry your gear. If I'm shore fishing I use a sling pack or a basic book bag type pack with a couple stowaways tucked in it, keeps me mobile and comfortable which is exactly what I like

Irod IRG703C Input please
I definitely know there are differences between companies, a MH only rated to 3/8 just seems weird to me. Ill prob just suck it up and place my order haha

Irod IRG703C Input please
Hey guys, looking to possibly pick up an Irod IRG703C or the equivalent in the fiber series, but I'm looking for input from other users before taking the plunge. I know Irod makes a great product but the fact that the rod is a MH only rated to 3/8oz seems odd. I contacted Matt and he said the rod would work well for my applications (flukes, lighter jigs/t-rigs) but I wanted to get some impartial opinions. For what it's worth, other rods in the running are the Dobyns Fury and Bass X.
