  1. Try marking your line at the wanted depth (I use a bobber stop) and suspend a drop shot.
  2. How about dumping waste in international water and how it effects commercial fishing?
  3. A 6'9-7' medium-heavy fast action is my choice for most versatile rod, for what it is worth!
  4. 7' is in the middle of the ideal flipping rod and the ideal top water rod. I would not base my rod selection on length alone though.
  5. Just bought 8 Speed Spools for Christmas, a gift to myself. You can't make a bad choice, as long as you choose Lews!
  6. Switching hands after/while casting is wasted energy! Why switch if you don't have to!?
  7. Hence the suggestion of smaller boxes.
  8. Why should it matter whether or not you are a boater?!? Any one who is organized should be using some sort of box. I have 3 3600s filled. When I was a rider I had 2 3500s (1 hooks & 1 weights) that fit in a smaller pocket of my bag.
  9. I have a BPS Tourney Special (go for $50) that I started with. That reel is almost as smooth as my Lews reels and even smoother than my Abu Garcias. It was used for flipping. I wouldnt hesitate to buy another!
  10. Personally I don't mind my horrible hook up ratio. Just watching a fish blow up on them is enough to keep me throwing them!
  11. If my display name wasn't an obvious, I'm a police officer. Sorry for the confusion?!
  12. Call me Scott, we need to talk! I bet no one could guess my career...
  13. All of this snow makes fishing a lot more enjoyable, seeing as how I can't just pack up and go to the lake everyday!
  14. I bought myself those new cielos/speed spools for Christmas, along with a ton of other things! Unfortunately, my tax return went in the pocket of the wife to be!
  15. I prefer 12-16# mono simply because it floats! I know a bunch of people that like to use braid. Avoid fluoro for top water at all costs!
  16. Great rod for spinnerbaits and lipless crankbaits in weeds!
  17. 1. 7' medium spinning. This will cover all your finesse baits. 2. 7'-7'6 heavy casting. This can be used for flipping, heavy jigging, or frogging. 3. 7' medium heavy casting. This can be used for jigs, t-rigs, c-rigs, cranking, or just about anything. It's a real versitile rod. 4. 7' medium casting. This will cover jerkbaits, crankbaits, and top water. As mentioned before, you should really be basing your selection off of how you plan to fish for each trip. Those 4 rods will cover just about every scenario though.
  18. It's another day of falling snow here in central PA. I'm trying to make the best out of it and spent the day in the garage getting the boat and gear organized. Now that its all done I won't know what to do with myself on the next snowy day! Anyone else ready for spring to get here?
  19. My locker full of Daiwa Cielos and Lews Speed Spools. All new for the 2014 season.
  20. Thanks for all the info. This alone doubled my knowledge of the water!
  21. 1. Strike King Shim E Stick- Watermelon Red Flk 2. Stike King Rage Tail Craw- Bama Craw 3. 8" Berkley Juice Worm- Pumpkinseed 4. Reaction Innovations Sweet Beaver- California 420 5. 22. My club decided to fish some new water this year. We are launching on the Susquehanna River out of Williamsport, PA on April 5th. I have never seen the water and can not find any fishing reports for it. The odds of being able to prefish for me are slim. Anyone familiar with the water and willing to help a guy out with some info?
  23. I had the same problem with my old boat. I had cut out a hole in the passenger consel so that I could lay my rods flat (tips through the hole) and out of the way. Works great as long as you dont have a passenger! Otherwise, the passenger just had to be careful. That boat was only a 15'er.
  24. Walmart carries these Plano Tackle Bags that hold 4 3700 boxes for about $30. Thats what I carry when I ride. A box for worms, a box for creatures/craws, a box for tubes/finesse baits, and a box for crankbaits/jerkbaits/spinnerbaits/jigs/top water. I use hook bonnets on my trebles to keep them from tangling. The 2 side compartments get filled with tools, scents, spare spools, etc. 2 3500 filled with terminal tackle fit nicely in the front pocket. Culling tags clip to the D ring. I try to keep to 4 baitcast and a spinning rod. The key is to take only want you need and intend to use for the trip.
