  1. I like powerfishing and am looking into getting some rods and reels for spinnerbaits and cranking (western was, so shallow baits and deep baits) along with a gitzit rod. I'm looking to spend 50-75 a rod, but am looking at 100 dollar rods too. I also want 1 more mh. And reels... I love nice reels, but again, I'm on a budget... Any web sight to get them for a steel? Thanks in advance.
  2. I did not read everyone's messages. I'm from the west coast, where drop shotting got its start. I do not use a swivel. I tie my lines together with an improved Albright knot. I like it because its compact, casts through your guides very well, and when its tied properly, doesn't break off easily. You didn't ask about that, but there's some free advice. As far as your question about how long to tie the leader, I typically make that based on water clarity, time of year, how deep I'm fishing the drop shot, and if there's grass. If I'm fishing in inches, not feet, I tie it the length of the lure. If I'm fishing deeper water with grass (typically means muddy bottoms and water conditions in my experience) I tie the rig so the lure is just above the grass. If I'm fishing chocolate water, I don't use a drop shot. I opt for moving baits at that point. If I'm tired of drop shots and want something different, I power shot. Heavy line with a jig on bottom instead of a weight, and then I tie my drop shot 3-4 feet above that. Hope this helps.

  4. Thanks for all the info. Back in WA, bass dont grow as large as they do in the south. Theres not enough forraige species and wdfw doesnt care for bass fishing enough to change that. I'm looking forward to this area. Thanks all.
  5. I just moved to Mount Holly NC from Everett, WA. I don't know anything about bass fishing any of the lakes around here, but I know starting with baitfish and asking around about typical water/weather conditions is a great way to get to know a little more than just getting out there. What are the baitfish in this area? And what lakes/ponds are close to Mount Holly? Also... According to NC Fish and Game there aren't any alligator gar in NC, but according to some things ive seen online, there are... Any idea where? I've never seen gar before. Lol thanks in advance.
  6. I've looked online, and all the websights to clubs I've found look inoperational. What about near Mount Hood? Thanks in advance!
  7. I've searched for clubs online near charlette, nc but all the clubs I found look like they are inactive. A year later, what clubs are near charlette, nc? Or even mount hood? Thanks in advance.
  8. Man, I wish you replied so many months ago! I just moved to North Carolina. Add Boeing Bass to the club section on bass resource. This info could help people who were in my shoes, but only if its advertised. Lol

  10. Lol. I guess I did. You'll probably still be better off with a casting set up though... More control over the fish, superior control during the cast. Easier to find the combos. Just saying. Only trying to help.
  11. I like a dropshot and deep diving crainkbaits around bluff walls.
  12. No, he doesn't mean spinning rod. It is HARD to find a spinning rod with the backbone for heavy wire hooks jigs have. He meens a highspeed (7:1:1 or faster) baitcast reel and keeping it on freespool at the end of the cast.
  13. I really like the Sebile Magic Swimmer Soft in Rainbow trout. The action from them is perfect for spring bassin, and because you rig them weedless grass, brush, stumps, and rocks no longer become a problem. Pick some up. 3 lures, 1 hook, and specialty weights are less than 15.00.
  14. If they made a bag styled backpack I would be happy. Too bad they don't.
  15. Only the terminal tackle is set up. I didn't say rods and reels or crainkbaits. Lol
  16. Dropshot. Using a phone with tiny keys is a pain sometimes.
  17. Currently, I'm using a tactical military pack. For 25 bucks at a sportsmen's convention I can carry 4 3600 tackle boxes, 2 2 tray 3700 boxes by Plano, and pliers, line cutters, etc. The main problem I have with it is the zippers keep breaking on me. The straps are annoying. Over all I carry more than I need, especially for bank fishing. I also carry a bass master bag to carry my soft plastics. That is totally worth it.
  18. Went on to eBay and tackle warehouse... Ebay 25 pack each of Gamagatsu hooks 3/0 EWG, 4/0 E WG, 5/0 EWG. Tackle warehouse I bought a 25 pack of 2/0 skip gap hooks, Vike Tungeston dropshit weights, in size 1/8, 3/8, and 1/4 for grass and rock, hook it hook organizers X3, Bass Mafia Bate Casket (clear), football head Carolina weights in sizes 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2, t stops, a few more specialty weights... In total the bait monkey stole about 200 out of my wallet. Greedy bait monkey... But at least my terminal tackle is pretty much set up...
  19. Nice spot. I'll keep these places in mind. I've decided to take your guys advice, and I'm gonna take the plunge. Thanks all. Appreciate it.
  20. So that's why this state is such a pain to fish... Idiots in congress. Goodbye WA, hello North Carolina.
  21. Several months later, I know, but here's what I like for bank fishing. Yum dinger watermellon red flake, 5" (smalls and large) Yamamoto DH Grub, Green pumpkin (smalls) Gitzet in pearl white (smalls) Shallow diving crainkbaits, such as the above mentioned KVD 1.5 and/or 1/2 KVD red eye shad, just keep your rod tip up Rebel PopR Zoom 4" and 6" lizards, with a size 7 split shot. 1/4 oz to 3/8 oz jig and trailer combos And whatever you do, don't over look rooster tails.
  22. What exactly is a small fish? Here in WA and OR its commonplace for the minimum size to be 10" to 12" in tournaments. Bass just don't get large in numbers here, as we don't have a lot of forage species for them. What size bag wins tournaments there? I've seen 7 pound bags win in OR. And if I were to invest in a technique specific rod and real combo, what would you recommend?
  23. I'll be getting into clubs and learning to fish as a backseater. The boat I have isn't a bass boat anyway. Its nowhere near sturdy enough. What crainkbaits should I be looking at investing in? Colors etc? Ive never even seen a spot, let alone fish for them.
  24. I do, but it would have to stay behind. Why?
  25. I can't say where I'll be working but I can say it will be with the same company I am currently employed with. The pay isn't the greatest at 10 an hour, especially in Washington. Figures, highest minimum wage in the lower 48. I'd like to find something in the 15 dollar range, as the company I'm working for may not exist in the future in NC. Mount Holly is about 15 minutes from charolette from what my old man is telling me. Sorry for the typo. Spell check...
