  1. I dont know how she didnt know. Yes, none that I am wiling to fess up about. I didn't tell her to sit down, I asked her to move a couple inches behind a tree so as the fish couldn't see her. You are right about how she interpreted what I said. It was like God himself turned his back on me and let her say and do exactly what she wanted. lol.
  2. It may not hurt to try and stick with a lake until you get the feel for it. As far as detecting the bite, try keeping your finger on your line, and watch for a line jump. I hadn't known that stupid sounding trick (finger) until about last year. since then my outings have increased. If your fishing from the bank, I feel you. I was in the same position you are in last year. In your position, I would throw a spinner bait and a rip bait as my search baits and fish every visible piece of cover I could see. If I started getting bit, Id slow down and switch to a weightless senko or drag a Carolina rig. This time of year, points are amazing. Id start there, and move after about 20-25 casts without success.
  3. So I have been an avid fishermen for as long as I can remember. I started out fishing salmon and trout, then discovered bass fishing on my own. 2 years ago I married my wife. So she new I was into fishing before we were married, but I don't think she realized how into it I really was. I am not a fisherman. I am not a weekend warrior, in fact, I despise that term. I AM a fishing addict. A Bassaholic. A Fishing Fiend. You get the picture. So many of you know what I'm saying, ya cant go to work without thinking about fishing, you cant fish without thinking about more fishing, you cant stay home without thinking about fishing. Sleep will not come until you think about fishing. Her problem: You spend too much time and money fishing. My problem is her problem. I have offered to take her fishing with me, she will no longer do so as a result of a mishap while I was trout fishing a local pond with her. Trout were biting good until she stood on top of the hill 15 feet above the crystal clear water with a bright red chair and other bright colors. I asked her as nicley as I could to move, and that was that, she wont come fishing with me anymore. I've invited her on many trips since, only to be declined every time after. Its become such a problem that I cant talk to her about my number 1 passion. She doesn't want to hear it. How do I get her to know this is actually a good thing? How do I show her it hasn't taken her spot in my life or whatever she could possibly be thinking. How do I get her to have more interest in my outings? To get her to go with me again? I love it when she does- so long as she brings a good attitude, patients, and a book to read. I love her there, her company is appreciated. HELP???
  4. A friend of mine had a problem with a dock owner a few years ago. He told me about it the other day. He was fishing a dock attached to a houseboat in the back of a Clear Lake or Shasta when the owner started yelling at him from the shadows. The guy had PTSD. Instead of getting defensive about it, my friend apologized and said he would be on his way. The dock owner was so surprised that he actually gave my buddy permission to fish his houseboat. He went on to say that he just wanted to be left alone and was tired of fishermen throwing hooks and lures on his dock and leaving them there. I understand his perspective, but wish that said I wish people didn't give bass fishermen a bad name because of their own stupid actions and would pick up after themselves. I mean, we already have a pretty poor problem with fly fishermen up here in Oregon. Why try and stir the pot with people who have water front properties on top of that.
  5. So a buddy of mine swears on the Veritas casting rods. I've heard many positive reviews about the Carbonlite but I've never seen one. What are the similarities with these two rods? Wich is better for flipping/pitching? Crankin? Worms? Price is right for both, but ultimately wich is the better deal. Abu Garcia retails for 99. Bps goes from 100 to 119. Warranty?

  7. Generally speaking, when fishing deep water thinner line allows your lure to stay deeper as its less friction. Another option you have is putting on a heavier weight to keep it deeper. How deep are you fishing? Something I do is I fish Sibelle soft swim baits on a Carolina rig with a 1/2 ounce weight and 15 pound mono. I then fish it like a jig. Simply drag it on the bottom. I'm not familiar with your brand to know weather this will work for you though.
  8. I'm not lookin at fishin smallies with slug-os. I should have been more specific. Markin the line sounds like a good idea. Thanks for that. Back to slug-os. Where do they shine? Same place a fluke or Senko do? Do you fish em any different? I'm just a little "scared" of em cause there so stiff. Any answered would be great. I know there not a drop shot bait.
  9. Hi all. I have a couple questions for you. 1)Last year a buddy and I were out fishin a deep lake here in southern or. The water was 40 or so feet deep (emigrant lake gets to 300) and his electronics were pickin up fish suspended at 20 feet. My question is how do you fish suspended bass in this situation with a drop shot? Are there any tricks to figuring out how deep your lure is? 2) A buddy just gave me a few bags of sluggos (sp?). I know enough about them by talkin to him that they were the predecessor of senkos and flukes and the like. My second question is is with these bein closer to 7 inches long and heavier than senkos and flukes is there a way that is better for fishin them? What situations do they shine in the most? Thanks in advance. Devin.
  10. I'm not worried about the extra weight. I weigh 280 pounds as of yesterday. If anything it will help me lose some. The backpack I have currently fits everything I own, and at the end of the day, aside from a little stiffness in my lower back, I feel fine. I also carry 3-4 rods. I've constantly referred to myself as a one man truck. Its how I've always been. And every time I've left a lure at home I find myself in the situation where it would have been perfect.
  11. Yes. Line color matters. If may not matter in every lake, every river, every pond, but line color matters most when the water you are fishing is clear. I use either 15pld mono (berkly big game) or braid with 6-8 pound flourocarbon line when fishing clear water. Now, when considering muddy lakes, my favorite grass lake Agate Lake (realized I have to fix that...) is highly to mildly stained year round. I've fished straight dark green spider wire 10pld test here with no leader tied to a Senko and caught tons of fish. So line color matters in clear water lakes. I hope this makes sense.
  12. I like 1/8th oz standup type owner hooks used with zman straight tail worms. I can't remember exactly what there called. If you stretch them out a few times to get the salt off they float with the tail up. Problems I've had with the trick worms is its luck of the draw. Not all of them float. The original can, but there's no way to tell without stickin em in your mouth.(checking for salt)heartburn. Yuck. Zman or strike king zeros are the best.
  13. All one piece rods. A buddy turned me on to em last year. Have a link to this? It sounds perfect. Lol
  14. Do you guys know what the dimensions are for the Veritas bag and the spiderwire bag? How long have you had the spider wire bag? How is it holding up? Thanks again for answers.
  15. Alright. Thank you. I'm gonna check out the link to the Veritas bag. Thanks all.
  16. So its great to see that you can store so much in the veritas bag. But how many bags of plastics could it hold without the boxes. I prefer keeping them in there original packaging so as to avoid problems like mixing colors. Had it happen before. That wasnt fun. lol. Currently, I am using a retired school backpack. Its dimensions are 17"HX6"DX14"L. Its time it was replaced with something better suited and in better shape. Maybe its my OCD that Im having issues with. Its not like I have a ton of gear. Literally all the gear I own is in it atm. I have a 1.5 gallon plastic container full of plastics (strongly considering going to a soft bag of some sort...) and I have other plastics that wont fit. I also have 4 3600 boxes. I was thinking I may need the 3730 boxes for the future, but can live without them. I like your thinking, but it absolutely needs to be a backpack. I often find myself needing my hands to climb when I'm fishing a few steep lakes here. Thank you for your answers. Its greatly appreciated.
  17. If your lookin for a "one size fits most" kind of rod, id look into gettin an Abu Garcia Vendetta. Pair it with an Abu Garcia Revo and your in business. Make sure its a MH. You can throw jigs, plastics, and spinnerbaits with this rod. MH F around 6'10" to 7'. Remember. When spending money, if your going to put it into anything put it in the reel. It does most the work.
  18. Great to see all the hard baits. And welcome to BR. Its my first answer. Lol. I would recommend pickin up some strike king zeros OR zman elaztek stickbaits. They float and are perfect for finicky bass when fished with a shaky head. Other than that, your box looks great, better than many who fished all of last year. Lol tight lines.
  19. So I'm one of those unfortunate bass fishermen, you know, the one stuck on the bank unless a buddy wants to get out with there boat. I've fished out of a backpack for the last couple years, and I don't mind it. What I need to know is what backpacks are out made for fishing that can carry everything I need? I'm looking for something that can carry 4 3600 stowaways and 2 3730 stowaways. I also need it to carry tons of plastics. I've checked out tackle warehouse, wild river, cabelas, gander mountain, bass pro shops, and sportsmans warehouse but I cannot seem to find the "perfect" backpack. I like wild river, but even there large bag seems like its too small. I saw the big backpack Okuma makes, but its bottom compartment only holds one 3730 box and 2 3700. What are your suggestions. I guess I'm sort of looking for a backpack that could fit an old kitchen sink... Made specifically for fishing. Thoughts?
