  1. Pearl/red eye and chrome and black back I have had the most success with but I haven't tried the natural crawdad or a few others that I think will work really well!
  2. I really like the Cotton Cordel Big O square bills, they come in 2", 3", 4". I fished the 4" one below (pearl/red eyes) for the last 5 years or so. It's a square bill I have it in a few different colours and the colours still look great. The Pearl one is not painted on it's the colour of plastic and is very durable, very like scratches and Its got a few big pike. I do have some KVD square bills and I have had some good action with them.
  3. I agree understanding where structure is in deep water is tough and something I am learning to do as I get better electronics. I'm in need of an upgrade lol
  4. Thanks roadwarrior for the crank bait advice. Does anyone have any techniques for deep water bass fishing?
  5. Hey everyone, One of the biggest thing I struggle with is deep water fishing 20-25 ft and more. I'm a big crank bait guy and have the deep diving crank baits and heavy bass jigs just wondering what techniques and lures you guys use to get down there and get those deep bass. Thanks! Jeff
  6. Thanks guys! Ontario is a pretty good bass fishery so I can't complain.
  7. I heard you should use Flouro because it sinks unlike mono but like whatever one else is saying what works best for you. For the longest time I used 15lb mono and it worked great only lost 1 fish on it and it was a huge pike but never lost any bass and got a few 5lbers on it. I switched to 15lb fluoro
  8. I'm looking for the same set up. Something for the slop I think this would be a great rod. I love Quantum stuff I just can't find anything that has 50lb line rating Shimano Crucial CRCX77MHA https://www.basspro.com/Shimano-Crucial-Casting-Rods/product/1110040501174/ As for reel as stated I would go with something quick (7.0:1). I just found out Abu has a 9.0:1 thats 37" per turn!!!
  9. Hey everyone, I'll start off by telling you a little about myself. My name is Jeff and by my username you can figure out my last name. I have been fishing for close to 10 years now and have begun to get really competitive and just want to take my fishing to the next level. I love watching fishing videos and learning as much as I can. I checked out the website and hopefully with all the knowledge here you guys/girls can help me go to the next level. I don't know if this website site is geared to Canadians but I figured there must be some others of us on here that can help me out with local tournaments and what not. Here is a little bit about what I fish (gear) -I love Quantum gear. I find that my lower end stuff is still very high quality, it still is working great (4 years now) and I love my high end gear! -I am big crank bait guy. I watched a lot of KVD videos and so at one point it was the only thing I fished. I would say that it's my go to lure -Favorite and first lure I ever learned to fish was the Cotton Cordell Big O in Pearl with Red eyes size 4 (still fish the same one to this day!) -Soft plastic are my close second and with the more I learn could become my number one (love the Yum Craw papi Green Pumpkin) -Deep fishing (25 foot and more) I haven't yet mastered yet so really any help with that would be great. I have some deep diving crank baits but nothing yet. Again any tips or tricks with any type of lures would be great. -My favourite fisherman are KVD and Gerald (G Man) Swindle. -I love fishing for bass and I would say 99% of the time thats what I fish for but occasionally I will fish for pike and pickerel I'm looking to get into tournament fishing this year so any help with what it takes to be on top would be great! Thanks and I look forwards to talking with you guys/girls more! Have a good on Jeff Biggest Large mouth 5-6lbs Biggest small mouth on camera (no weight)
