  1. Here's what I dug up on Hanover Pond... HANOVER POND, Meriden (70 acres) Town operated boat launch. <---so we can Yak Species: (LMB S) Other: Steerage speed only. <---what does that even mean?
  2. Everything is starting to thaw here, but most of the lakes are definitely still covered. I was fortunate to go try out some casts on Monday, but it was too d**n cold.
  3. I ordered it via a few suggestions from on here. May I ask what makes it such a great Flouro? Thanks!
  4. My buddy Brian and I went to Hanover Pond in Meriden on Monday afternoon because there's no ice. We just wanted to try out some new reel combos. It was freakin' cold...and by cold, the excess water was freezing to the eyes on the rod. I'm praying for some warmer weather in a couple of weeks.....
  5. What color tubes would you recommend for deeper water?
  6. How is Patchaug? I read some good things on it on some site. I've never ventured out that way though other than to gamble.
  7. I drove out Haddam way and the CT River is thawed in that portion of the state. Could be worth just to go out and cast to try out some new set ups.
  8. Just seeing if there was anywhere where I could get some casts in yet...A nice spot on the CT river....A pond that receives 12 hours of sunlight...haha anything! I'm dying!
  9. The only combo I have from Walmart is my little 4' Ugly Stick which gets used periodically when I have to sneak it somewhere.
  10. Would you run 6 lb or 8 Okeechobee?
  11. I bought the Piranha as well. What was nice is that it had a sensor you stick to the bottom of the kayak (inside) and it transmits down (sonar). Nothing to toss overboard.
  12. I was trying to run something different on this other than braid. I have two others running braided line. Any ideas?
  13. Hey all: I have a line question. I haven't commited to a line on this rod yet, but I am running A 6'6" Berkley medium/light lightning rod with a Phlueger Supreme MGX. I already have another rod running 6lb Braid. What should I run on this one. I was thinking Flouro, but what would compliment it best? Thanks!
  14. How about fishing the river from the banks down in the Essex area on east banks? It looks like there would be a lot of nice little hollow spots there. Sea grass and all.
  15. I have this App. I don't know about its credibility though. There are two public supply drinking resevoirs near my house where there is absolutely zero tolerance for fishing. There's two guys who posted pics of themselves fishing there. Just because it's in the app, doesn't make it legal. But, could you use it to plead a case in case you got busted?
  16. Checking in.....Why--Obviously not for you BMac.. I read your post...First week of March for your birthday? We're getting snow again!!! Hopefully within the next few weeks though. I've gotta try these new setups! PS: Looking for some nice new little spots--anyone from CT> Just somewhere to walk to. Oxoboxo was a homerun last year!
  17. Large Phoebe always seems to land a pickerel. Here in CT we have a place called "Pickerel Pond." There are some monsters in there which are always fun to catch! b Another lure that catches Pickerel decently is a medium sized Wiggle Wart. My blue/silver seems popular.
  18. "Kick Bass" The "B" is in a different letter color. "Fishing, with me, has always been an excuse to drink in the daytime."--Jimmy Cannon And my personal favorite... "Somebody just back of you while you are fishing is just as bad as someone looking over your shoulder while you write a letter to your girl."- Ernest Hemingway
  19. Hey guys: I often fish with three or four poles when I go out, but sometimes I just need a "go to" when I can't get out in the kayak. So, this is what I came up with. Let me know if you think it would suffice for most bank conditions and distance casting. I have a Daiwa medium heavy rod with a soft tip (6'6"). I am running a Trios 30S reel on it with 6lb Siren braided line. I'm hoping this would provide an all around rod for those quick stop days. I'll post a picture of it after. Thanks for the advice!
  20. Hey: I just wanted to introduce myself in my first post. I'm Eddie. I'm from Wallingford, CT. I started fishing when my family owned a cottage on Amston Lake in Lebanon. I've fished intermittently since then, but have gotten much more involved over the past few seasons. I'm a huge fan of bass fishing, pike, pickerel...etc. I tried salmon fishing once this year by myself in Mt. Tom but sucked at it. Thank you all here for creating a forum for people who enjoy fishing to read, post, critique and help one another. Thanks!!!
