  1. I use the fishin' fool knot for braided line...if the knots slides down, you know you did it right and you don't have to pull hard and cut your fingers. You can actually leave it loose and let the fish pull it tight.
  2. Always pick up a few things at Walmart when i am there for a great price. Check out their online selection, they have a lot of higher end stuff not available in stores. Especially if you are looking for reels.
  3. I just got some recon worms, how are you rigging and fishing them? Hook size, etc
  4. I do 5 if it's thicker line, 7 or 8 if it's lighter line
  5. Try both, the Dick's sporting goods by me have sets that come with two hula poppers and one jitterbug, or vice versa. Only like $9 for 3 lures, great deal. I have caught bass on both.
  6. Glad Glenn cleared that up...I was pretty sure Ray Scott was still alive...
  7. Did you cut the original off?
  8. Holy fat belly pig! Nice fish!
  9. I have the same one and it is a great reel, especially for slow rolling crankbaits. Very light and exceptionally smooth!
  10. Are you ok with us putting a bass resource logo on a club team jersey? If so do you have a logo file that I could use? Would love to give pub to the site on our club jersey.
  11. Will have to try that, I just got a pack of rage toads. How are you rigging it?
  12. Agreed, much more weedless than a chatterbait. Definitely has it's place when fishing shallow.
  13. Welcome, I lived in Indiana fir 5 years. What a great place it is! Enjoy the site, it's a great place to learn!
  14. I was a 9 handicap and used to golf in tournaments almost every weekend...haven't picked up a golf club in more than a year. Now I fish most weekends and can't get enough. I am hooked on fishing and I'm pretty cool with it. Wish I could say the same for my wife...
  15. Same here, been at least 3 weeks. I signed up online for the 5 year package, I have gotten 2 magazines, but nothing else. Didn't even get a confirmation email when signing up...they definitely could use some better correspondence work. I had to sign up for my club I joined, and wondered if the transaction went through since I got no confirmation.
  16. I have the same cabelas flipping rod and a spinning rod, they have been great and I love the grips.
  17. I had the same problem this weekend with the rage blades...will have to either try a heavier trailer or only throw them when I need them to run shallow.
  18. I caught fish a number of times that already had hooks and a bit of line gut hooked. In most cases it was at a pond where a lot of kids fish with very light line and small hooks and the line breaks easy with a good bass. In every case I was able to get the hook out and release them to be caught again.
  19. I had a problem like yours for a bit of last season, couldn't keep a knot from breaking. I spent a good amount of time over the cold, miserable winter practicing tying different knots. As a result I have gotten very good with a few different knots rather than just one. Palomar, Improved Clinch and the Fishin' Fool knot are my go to's now. Also, the Eugene Bend knot which makes a snap/pop noise when tightening if you do it correctly. It is not on that link, but you can google it.
  20. Welcome to the forum from a fellow Ohioan!
  21. Does anyone know if there is anything that you can put on an EVA/foam handle to soften it up and make it more grippy? I got a quantum response bait casting rod as a gift and the handle seems harder than it should be and a little slippery. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated!
  22. Mike, your profile says you are in Georgia, did you recently move to Ohio? I have never been to the AEP lakes, but have heard stories about monsters getting pulled out of there. I'm gonna try and get out there this summer. I don't have a boat, that's why I joined a club this year so that I can get out on those lakes and maybe win some $$.
  23. Nice! Congrats
  24. I wish I knew! Got skunked at Rocky Fork. Caught my PB though the next day at Indian Lake in a club tournament...6.22 lbs
