  1. Shaneus, I have always wondered.....do those guys get stressed as much as I would to stay on top? Or is it just another day in the office? Of course Skeet did an awesome job and has his share of wins but I would think they are under immense pressure to stay on top! Do they talk to you guys much or just total concentration on the fishing?
  2. another siteatic- man, that's an awesome stringer! I can't catch that much weight in a year! Course that ain't saying much on my part, I am far from a fisherman but y'all did a fine job. Congratulations! That has to be the ultimate satisfaction to finish high like that! And I have really benefited from your past advice and tips, it is extremely valuable to guys like me and very much appreciated when you share your knowledge! It has made my trips much more enjoyable to find fish where you had planned on them being. Thanks much to you and the others on this forum!
  3. Seems like a lot of bass still moving up on beds. I was just in buck creek looking for bed bass on Friday and only saw small males and not many of those. Then powroski goes in there today and catches the winning kicker! He caught several out of there.
  4. Yea I'm with you on that one Catt! I fished the mounds today and didn't see any females on the beds. It's a mass exodus in a hurry I'm thinking.
  5. Absolutely- Happy Easter everyone! It is a beautiful weekend to be spending with family and friends and celebrating His resurrection!!
  6. Yea that's what I had in mind! I sure wouldn't mind trading some carpentry labor now for some of your fishing knowledge in the future when you are caught up and have time to teach me.
  7. Hey shaneus, tell Noah about the flood!!! I know exactly what you mean with the projects. You sure got it looking good though! Let me know if you need some help with something, if you need to get something knocked out quick, be glad to give you a hand.
  8. Same here! And while we're on the subject of post spawn, something I've always struggled with is- when I do find those fish but only catching smaller ones, what do I need to do to get on the bigger ones consistently? I am learning more and more from this forum on the differences between the bigger and smaller fishing but just haven't nailed down what to do in transition periods when all I'm on is smaller fish. Transition periods are definitely my biggest struggle as far as consistent bigger fish goes and I'm going to be reading this forum over and over and really listening to any comments on that subject! I know that I can't expect to stay on the biggest fish every time especially during transitions but it seems there are certain people that consistently stay with them so I know there is a pattern that I must follow to do the same. I really have enjoyed this forum, really appreciate all of the input from everyone. It has been invaluable to me and without a doubt making my trips more and more satisfying! Thanks much!!
  9. Hey Catt! Nice report and I like the pics- taking it to another level! Kinda takes away any doubt!
  10. Cool report! Ain't nothing more fun to me than playing with a bedded bass, unless its latching onto a 10-12 lbr! I bet tomorrow that south end is gonna look like Black Friday at Walmart!! I can't wait till next week, I hope I get to change my PB!
  11. Hey Catt! Thanks for- Just saying! I'm hard headed sometimes but I learn quick and one things for sure... When Catt is just saying- I'm just listening! Shaneus - you know we want to see some pics of the camp when you're done- I'm jealous but still looking! Looking forward to reports and stories from this weekend!
  12. Man! And I hate a buzz bait! In fact, I hate a buzz bait AND a spinner bait! Guess I'll have to tie one on and try it everyday until I get better with them. We tried a chatter bait with limited success Sat.
  13. I agree. Simple and most of all fun and relaxing.
  14. Fished Saturday, caught 2 decent fish in the back of Buck creek right off and then nothing after that. It was muddy and 64 degrees and crowded. Tried back of Mill creek, nothing but wind and crowds. Loaded up and went to San Miguel. Caught 10-12 off points and ridges, couldn't find anything in the backwater. Caught everything on plastic from wacky to craw worm. Water was 61 on main creek. Had a decent day but they weren't exactly tearing it up. Looking forward to this week after Wed, forecast is looking nice! After this past weekend, I think I'm gonna do like Catt, find something healthier to do on weekends than deal with the boat rage! Wesley, you get your boat going? I think you're coming in at just the right time. Only one I've heard of getting some good ones with any consistency is Catt. Go figure!
  15. Welcome arvalbutler! I'm new myself but have learned so much about Toledo from this forum. I would suggest starting from the beginning and copy/paste the teaching to a Word document so you can organize according to date/location/technique. I printed everything out so I can refer to it with my map while I'm fishing. I've loaded all the waypoints into my GPS and spending time riding and mapping. I haven't been fishing seriously for long even though I grew up in Many and still need to learn so much. I'm like you, having tried everything, from reading to hiring multiple guides and just can't seem to get Toledo figured out, at least not on a consistent basis with decent stringers. This forum has taught me more than anything I have learned anywhere, this thing is awesome and some really awesome guys have contributed to it. The club idea sounds great! I would definitely like to be a part of that. I work 28/28 so I'm home only every other month but I would love to have a part in whatever would be needed to kick it off, whether it be some leg work, emails, monetary, etc. I would be honored to contribute whatever I could, considering all that everyone has done on this forum, it's the least I could do. If it looks like a go, Please let me know what is needed.
  16. Bryanhester, I agree with Catt! The weather don't usually cooperate this time of year, either rainy or windy or both. One thing about this time of year on TB though, you just never know when you gonna hook into the new lake record!! Besides, a day of fishing is never wasted, I cant think of anything better to be doing. Good luck, maybe I'll see you there!
  17. I'm gonna try them again tomorrow. I guess everybody and their Momma gonna be out there tomorrow with the Oilmans! Catt, with the temp at 48 in the morning, do you think I would do better to try them a little deeper or will they still be biting good shallow? Or should I just wait a little later in the day to go once it warms up? I don't seem to adjust very well after a front with cooler temps and high pressure. I would think the bass wouldn't move from their beds once committed like they are now but do they lockjaw?
  18. I hear ya Catt! Them big girls are definitely deep in the brush and I'm definitely gonna have to go do some logging! That 9.5 lbr is enough to make anyone get some scratches on the boat! That explains why I didn't get bit, I was fishing the edges and any hole I could reach from the edge. My thinking was that there wouldn't be a bass, especially a good one, within a mile of that place if you were crashing brush to get to em. I'm learning.....I'm learning!! Thanks as always for sharing the insight! I was hoping I could get out there today to see how you were doing it but had other appointments that got in the way. Hopefully I can get there tomorrow before the storm hits.
  19. Catt, that's awesome! That's a nice stringer of fish any day! I know it's been a subject on this forum before, what do those fish on beds do right after a front? The wind was so bad Monday that it was hard for me to stay out of the brush and stay in one spot but I didn't get bit on anything, craw worm, lizard or jig! Do you think those fish moved, got lockjaw, I didn't throw what they were looking for or just didn't fish it slow enough? Looking forward to your report today.
  20. I fished Housen at the pipeline and 944 yesterday. Nothing. Wind was blowing right down Housen all the way to the back. One thing stupid that I did and ain't never going to do again was to cross over from Toro and back in a 20 mph wind!! My Triton had to earn her money yesterday! Today was better. Went to San Miguel late this evening and fished the North bank for a few hours. Caught 7 with a 6 lb and 3 1/2 lb being the biggest. Caught them all on a black/blue Rage Lobster on a shakey head. Some on the bank and some not but all shallow. Most of them males on beds.
  21. Any other reports from the weekend? Sorry to say but I've been on honey do's all weekend and haven't had a chance to go. Planning on hittin them tomorrow and Tuesday though! Looks like the rain's gonna come in for the rest of the week. I'll post a report after Tuesday. Planning on starting at Community hole and working my way south. For sure gonna take Catts advice and hit the buck brush at 944. Couldn't find any Rage lizard in watermelon neon but got some Gene Larews in that color. If anybody has time to go this week, I'd be more than happy to have ya, just PM me!
  22. Found em Catt, thanks alot! I must have went by em 100 times....blind as a bat! Got enough reading now to last a lifetime!
  23. Catt, I am interested in reading some of the baitfish articles by Matt - Know thy Baitfish Parts 1 &2 and the others that you suggested are "must read". Not sure why I can't find those, been trying tfor the last several days. Anyway, thanks for the help and hope I get the honor of shaking your hand and telling you in person how much I appreciate how you've helped us or even better to get the chance to fish with you!!
  24. New to this forum, so this is my first post.Unbelievable amount of info! I know its been said a hundred times but thanks so much to all that have contributed to the share of knowledge, especially those such as Catt, ***atic, shaneus, six mile c-rig, and not least, fishinfordollars, RIP. It is so rare these days for people to share their knowledge, tips and secrets even in a sport that we all love so much. There have been many many people affected by this thread, its like a life story! I started at the beginning and have read and copied every page to Word, I know I will refer to it many many times. I grew up around TB but never took the opportunity to fish it until the recent years after I was able to buy a boat. It always seemed so overwhelming but Catt has brought it into a perspective that is easy to manage by picking it apart, creek by creek, cove by cove. The times I have fished it were not very successful, at least consistently. It always amazed me how some guys seemed to always be on the big ones. Of course now I realize those guys are the ones that I saw behind my back fishing out in the "middle of nothing"! Thanks again to everyone! One question for now. I can't , for the life of me, find those posts by Matt Fly that are suggested reads. I have used advanced search in every way that I can think of but cannot find any of the forums started by Matt Fly.
