  1. Here's my first stab at YouTube. Enjoy it for what it is, a years worth of fishing in under 4 minutes.
  2. My single favorite application for flouro is jerkbaits. I honestly believe flouro (Trilene 100%) helps put more fish in the boat. For most other applications I use Berkley Big Game mono.
  3. No favorite brand, but a couple of favorite models for the money. Spinning: Pfluger President Casting: Cabelas Prodigy
  4. Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner. I love that you got a Bass Tracker and list it after the electric razor. Congrats and MERRY CHRISTMAS! ;D
  5. I'm beginning to learn that the real Burly is much more than he lets on. Next we'll discover that Burley is actually a renowned lunker hunter with 100+ double digit bass, and that he only posts the dinks to mess with our puny minds
  6. Outstanding! Congrats on a great year, and best of luck in '09!
  7. I've got the C4 Magtrax and it's a pain in the backside. Having the magnetic cast control right where I rest my thumb means I'm constantly, accidentally adjusting the cast control. The reel is smooth and casts great, but I seldom throw it because the Magtrax feature is so aggravating.
  8. Mini van all the way. 8-)
  9. Just to keep it simple and have fun.
  10. Did BPS refuse to honor the online price? Everytime I've taken an item to the service desk and asked, they've honored the online sale price for me. I do just wish they would mark the items the same in the stores and online, but I'm sure their way is more profitable.
  11. I work in local television and have for 20 years. Automotive was our biggest single category of advertiser. Before the big 3 started talking bailout, they cancelled their TV contracts. We laid off roughly 5% of our staff...That said, even small television stations operate with healthy profit margins, and we will weather this storm.
  12. I'll go with the Titans in the AFC I think the NFC is a crapshoot, but I'll take the Giants if forced to choose. Titans over Giants in the Superbowl, 21-20.
  13. Very nice! You Palm Beach guys sure have a funny idea of what's cold.
  14. That's channel 38 on Charter Cable for us Southeast Missourians. WELCOME and thanks for supporting the boards!
  15. I couldn't agree more. I only have 2 medium power rods in the rotation, but they are the rods I enjoy using the most.
  16. Crappie birthday to you! When's the fish fry and do you need me to bring anything? ;D
  17. So it's not enough that I have a rod for every application, now I need different rods for day and night fishing? Are you one of the bait monkey's evil elves?
  18. Asian carp are a serious problem in the Mississippi and Illinois rivers. Electronic barriers have been put in place to keep them out of the Great Lakes. They are a menace. When we throw a cast net into a school of shad, about half the fish in the net are baby Asian carp (silver carp). They make excellent cut bait for big cats, but they don't stay little long. These fish grow several pounds a year and are very hearty. A few years back when the Mississippi breached a local lake (Horseshoe lake in Alexander County, IL) Asian carp invaded, eventually wiping out the bluegill and bass population. I see them by the hundreds when I fish the diversion channel in Southeast Missouri. They are plankton eaters and simply will not take bait. BUT you can snag them legally for most of the year and they are excellent fighters and very good table fare, white and flakey, althought you are lucky to get 2 pounds of fillets from a 10 lb fish. They can reach 100 pounds and are popular with bow fishers as well. They are easy to spot feeding in schools near the surface of the water. When life gives you lemons, snag those freakin' lemons right behind the gills.
  19. I have no idea, BUT If I'm on a lake I know well, I turn it off just in case. Otherwise the benefit of me knowing what's down there outweighs my fear of spooking the fish.
  20. I prefer to catch big fish, but the sad truth is that my tactics seem to attract more quantity than quality.
  21. Hey Fishfordollars, In August, 1998 I interviewed for a job at KDFW in Dallas. It was day 18 of a 100 degree streak. Everyone at the station was miserable. The guy who interviewed me kept talking about getting back to North Carolina, and the guy who drove me to the airport just wanted to move to Seattle. No one wanted to be in that Texas heat.
  22. Here's my unsolicited 2 cents... Find something positive to occupy that time you'd normally spend on fishing. GMAN hunts, and this works for a lot of guys. I coach a couple basketball teams and bowl. You will drive yourself nuts sitting inside under a heat lamp watching a calendar. Pick up a winter hobby and throw yourself into it. Time will pass and you'll be back on the water before you know it. There is no place on earth I'd rather be than on a boat in the middle of my favorite lake on a warm day in April...but a noisy gym in December can get your blood pumping pretty good as well.
  23. GREAT story! ;D ;D ;D
