  1. TW tentative sale sticky thread!
  2. Well.. I made it 6 months without a tackle order, but as they say "once an addict always an addict". Recently I bought a Revo s, and Vandetta rod. Than I had to focus also on my musky gear, so I bought 10 new lures. And let me tell you, at over $20+ a pop it hurts but feels so good. And now I just placed my first of about 4 orders on TW to replace and pick up the new stuff.
  3. As much as I gripe about our winters, as many have said Minnesota offers over 10k lakes and ponds. You can catch trophy musky minutes from down town Minneapolis. But again agreeing with others here (not to mention bass master magazine) northern lakes often fine themself in the top 100 lakes in the U.S. You don't have to hit big names like leach, rainy, or Mille Lacs to find great fishing. Many small lakes will land you trophy bass, northern, and walleye. Plus side to these northern lakes, NO planes flying overhead, and often the only traffic you hear is other boats on the lake..
  4. I run both 90 & 130 on a 6'6 MH rod on braid and have no problem what so ever fishing it.
  5. Can you pull the trigger and put it in the water? Lol I bought one last year and was never able to bring myself to put it in the water. It's my trophy bait in my box.
  6. Yeah there is a post or two (maybe more) on here about this and the poor people who did what you did to find it out. Also once dipped don't store it with others.
  7. But if you look at TW, it's not that hard to spend only $50. If you don't buy single items and save up for lost lures it's easy to hit that free mark. Same with Amazon. A lot of the time if you spend X amount you get free shipping.
  8. When I musky fish I use a minimal line test of 80lb. And my bass set up is 30lb. Now there are a lot of guys that frog with 50lb braid to pull em out of the slop. You could use 50 on musky but a heavy wire leader is a must. But I think if you're trying to use one rig for two purposes you need to rethink that. While the braid might hold up think the reel. Your gears will get fried, and rods are different. A good heavy action and long rod is idea for musky. In short have the right tools for the job. If the job needs a shovel and you have a spoon it can be done, but doesn't make it right.
  9. I use them for personal reasons. When I catch that monster I like when it's on tape. I use Sony action cam, and just throw in a large micro add (64gb). I replace the battery at times before I have to change sd. I would like to have that feature on the action cam.
  10. SK redeye and CC Super Spot. I personally find the super spot works best for me on the fall, and redeye works good for me searching and cranking. 1/2oz for both. Whites and silver's are best in my area.
  11. 1/2oz blue chrome CC Super Spot is my go to. It has saved me from a skunk most days.
  12. I throw them year round, Sun or clouds. But you should use light colors in bright times, and dark when dark. Chrome works as sunny, but in a murky situation I find they help being located with some extra flash.
  13. Oh I well. I'm going in April if all plans out correctly. I don't know what I'm more excited about, my first salt water trip. Or to check off a lake Toho trip off my bucket list.
  14. I personally use a bunch of different storage options depending on where/what is stored. I have my main bag that holds different variations of 3600 & 3700 boxes for my basic lures. For my plastics I use mainly 3731 boxes. normal packages of plastics fit side by side and I can keep all the different style bags of plastic ordered nicely. I also have a Flambeau 4150 to store all of my line and misc items. Not to mention my box of "I'm going to use it later". When it comes to going out I choose what boxes to fill my Cabelas magnum bag with and I use a bass matter bag to store misc plastics to bring. Some times I bring a small bag that holds 3600 to carry my duos and plastics if I'm going on am all day trip out.
  15. I go to my CC Super Spot in silver/blue or my modified white SK red eye with a willow that replaced a back hook. I have caught some of my pb on these two and will throw them even in conditions where a T rig might be better.
  16. Might be a reaction jig or a hey let's see if this works. I personal had bright orange chatters made just to try.
  17. If this weather keeps up in Minnesota I might take my boat out on open water to "ice"fish...
  18. I know pike love to hit the small bladed jigs, but I don't date throw them for even pike. And I know Minnetonka grow them big. Family member just caught a 44 in musky on Minnetonka. Any brand specific? Musky lures are still new to me.
  19. I still have some organization. I keep finess, grass, swim all in there separate areas.
  20. I think if I placed each jig in a separate spot I would run out of room real quick.
  21. Last year was my first year really trying for musky. I bought a couple inlines and a few others, but wanted suggestions on your go to baits. In particular anybody use chatters?
  22. Thanks for the info guys. Planning on bringing all of my own gear but definitely going artificial bait. So I will have to stay looking around. I added a couple days to my trip so I need to find something to fill the days.
  23. I love my Abu Garcia casters. My Pro Max pulls in the 6ers all day and the 30+ in Northerns with no problem. (I wouldn't recommend chasing large fish with reels that aren't made for it though). I got a $30 Abu rod from Wal-Mart (vigilante or something) and works great. Look at the articles on here about choosing the right action for the job.
