The lake I fish most of the time has a 6 bass a day limit. Bass 12" to 15" have to be released. You can catch a limit of short fish every day. I go one day a week some times two. I love to eat the little ones so I keep them. Most of the Bass are 13" to 14" and a lot of 4 to 7lb. bass. Most of the guys I know never keep a Bass just the Cat fish.

How often do you catch a Mud Cat on a crankbait? A 3bl. 11oz. on a twenty year old Strike King today. That's three for me.

I have two M/H, Moderate Fast that I got just for buzzbaits. Am now trying a M/H Fast. Seen two rod manufactures that was showing their M/H Extra Fast for buzzbaits.

What power and action do you need for 5/16 oz. to 3/8 oz. buzzbait's?

Lots of rain this year. 3.5" of rain again last night couldn't even get to the lake this morning.Went Friday after a hard rain Thursday night, the bite was slow. The lake's here have been high and muddy all spring and the rain keeps coming. What do Bass do when the lake is already high and muddy and big rain's keep coming? Most of the Bass I did catch were on main point's where deep water meet shallow flat's on a slow moving Buzz bait, two on a slow moving 1.5 KVD square bill.

Went out today 11 fish on the KVD buzzbait 9 of them in the boat. Turning the hooks up seamed to be the key.

Love buzzbait's have fished them for years. We hardly ever loss a fish on the old strike King Buzzbait's. We started using the new Strike King KVD Tournament Buzzbait and losing a lot of fish. I put the two beside each other and seen the hooks on the old ones turn up and the new KVD are parallel with the body of the bait. Right or wrong I bent the hooks so the point is tuned up on them too. Going in the morning to see if it helps. Anyone have an thoughts or ideas as to why we are loosing so many fish on the new KVD Tournament Buzzbait?

I think that makes no since. If I am getting it right you are counting to 1000 slow so you are not turning a 5.1 to fast go to a 4.1.. Don't under stand why a 6.1 or 7.1 makes you tired compared to a 5.1 you are turning the handle the same speed with less turns to move the bait faster and a farther distance . As for the presentation I think mixing up the retrieve some times triggers a strike. Back to the post I use a 5.1 most of the time for square bills some times a 4.1 if they seem to want it really slow or closer to the surface. I have seen times if I give it a few cranks then stop and let it float back to the surface that will trigger a bite and I will us the 4.1 for that so I am not running it as deep as the 5.1 would. I run 10lb Berkley Trilene XT on both of then so I can get more depth when I want it.

From what I understand you want to fish the 1.5 early in the year and the 2.5 latter in the summer. Yes or no?

How many of you weight the butt of the rod? Is it good or bad?

Is the bite beater on the new Moon ? Does it effect the time of day the bite is on ? I know from 30 years of bow hunting I never miss a new Moon deer hunt .

Went today tried the tips ,didn't get bit . Then ran to the other end of the lake . The water was just stained there . Had a good day on KVD 1.5 crank baits ,the last two where nice fish . On points on the main body of water close to the dam .

Thanks for the tips . Had lots more rain yesterday . Going in the morning . More rain tomorrow . Going to try the spinner bait and Chatter bait .

Just had 5.5" of rain . The water is high and Muddy . How do I fish it for Bass ?
