  1. Swim jigs are my go to lure more and more I used to use 1/4 oz for everything but now I use 1/4 oz for 1' of water or less. I use 3/8 for anything deeper than that or if im trying to cast further.
  2. Looks like one of those baby burner spinnerbaits but im no expert. I try to stay away from the kvd stuff.
  3. Maybe im old school but I have used stren mono since I was about 7, it does have more stretch than most but im not concerned about it for topwaters. I have had almost no problems with it since then. I bought a spool of 8lb suffix only later to figure out it was copoly and not mono even though it didn't say anywhere on the package it was copoly.
  4. I might start a war here but im trying to pick a good flurocarbon and im not sure which is better. I know they are both really good companies but I have only ever used sunline. I would be using about 14-16 pound test and mostly fishing jigs with it.
  5. he's right not all the colors and I think they just made a new squarebill with cheaper materials. Not sure yet im gonna have to wait until I read the reviews. Paint looks good though.
  6. Sounds like a good lake to fish on a day you want to catch numbers
  7. I saw those, wondering if the quality will be the same.
  8. I checked out there website yesterday and he paints them custom from time to time also. Obviously higher price but some of the patterns are amazing. They also just started producing some killer looking swim jigs. They are $7 though they will take a bigger chunk out of your wallet than a regular dirty jigs swim jig.
  9. I found the Xt3 for sale at my local sporting goods store for $2.00 last month. Sadly I didn't have much money on me at all but I hid them and will be back for more
  10. not with the new system no. Are there any youtube vids on it? Im sure there is. I kinda feel like a dummy now
  11. thanks I will be sure to check them out
  12. Ok seriously im not sure if its just me or if anyone else is mad about it. It was definitely my biggest producing frog. Now I use the spro but I like the fatter body for fishing the slop and pads. I guess i could just use a sharpie and color it black but im too lazy for that. Is anyone else sad that they got rid of it? Maybe its just me but I swear I caught more big bass on that frog than any other one I own. Every time im at the store and see one I am sure I ****** it up before my friends because they are just starting to realize how good it is.
  13. I want to fish swimbaits so bad but I just don't have the money. Is there a way to get into swimbait fishing cheap. (Rod, reel, baits, line) sorry I know this isn't related to this topic.
  14. Every time I look on tackle warehouse it seems like they have less and less Xcalibur squarebills. Is tackle warehouse not buying them anymore or is the company not producing them anymore? They were my favorite squarebill because of the price for the quality. It looks like I might be switching to the new $7 lucky craft square bill or the kvd ones any other good squarebills to look at since there are virtually no Xcalibur ones left?
  15. nevermind looks like the question was already answered
  16. does booyah own xcaliber?
  17. Thanks im gonna try it after school today
  18. I have been wanting to fish that lake, is it any good?
  19. I love my new citica but when I am casting it is making a really weird noise like the magnetic brake is dragging or something (the one on the left.) But I have no clue how to fix it. Maybe its supposed to sound like this but I don't think so. It does it even when im just pitching my bait. Any tips on how to fix it?
  20. I have a hard time watching anyone keeping a fish no matter what species. I know its good for the fish population but I do agree I see many people mishandling fish and It makes me want to say something to them. Just my 2 cents.
  21. I went out this weekend without looking at the weather first (never a good idea.) The lows went from 50 on Thursday to 35 on Friday. I had a ton of trouble figuring out the fish being that this was a totally new lake to me, and the cold front made it even smaller. I was fishing lake Murphysboro in south Illinois. 13 miles south of lake Kinkaid. I hope I don't regret saying the name but it is a 140 acre lake with a 10hp limit which receives almost no pressure. I saw lots of lay downs and the lake appeared heavily stained but it wasn't quite muddy. I saw about a 14" bass chasing a 6" shad so I know they are eating shad. I tried spinnerbaits, swimjigs, jigs, crankbaits (rattletraps and squarebills), jerkbaits, poppers, spooks, buzzbaits, ect. Only caught 4 on Saturday after fishing almost all day. 3 fish ate a super spook jr. and I got one dink to eat a ike's mini flip jig all on a rip rap bank. I couldn't even fish Sunday due to all the wind. Could someone please give me some tips on their favorite baits for cold front conditions in stained shallow water and a lot of laydowns.
  22. Has anyone used tried the duel brand of hard baits on tw I guess they are a new company or at least new to tackle warehouse. Just wondering if I should give them a try. They kinda look like a mix of lucky craft and duo realis.
  23. I meant to say $200 rod and reel combo, not rich haha
