wow cheap is $200 or less lol

I like my st croix rage in MF and ih ave one in MXF, both are good rods.  Not sure i would want them for drop shot but for all your other criteria they work well.

I know, $200< is not usually what I think of when it comes to "budget" rods. :)

Kids these days.. $$$ is nothin to em.. just ask dad

From the list of techniques you want to use this spinning rod for, I'd suggest buying 2 $100 rods. It's kind of difficult for me to imagine throwing a wacky rig and a dropshot on the same outfit.

Dobyns 702 or 703. Preferably DX if you can find one for that price or more likely a champion.

St Croix Avid 6'8" M/XF, only thing is maybe not perfectly suited to is drop shot, especially really light drop shot. Another option I've heard is very versatile is the MB Orochi XX Shakeyhead rod, but it's 100 over your budget.

I have a 200.00 rod I'll sell To ya's for 90$ shipped. It's a big bear custom Rod. Google them and check it out.

It's a 6'9 3/4 medium power. So it's between medium and medium light power with a fast action tip. I can send you picks if you like.

I just got a Kistler klx and I love it. It's light and sensitive. I got it for shakey heads but I'm using it for a bunch of stuff cuz I like the feel of it so much.

St Croix Avid or Tournament 6'8" MXF

I wouldn't say that, I'm 15 and every rod I own, I purchased with my money. I work for my money.

Don't throw split shots at me now.

I been using a 6' Berkly cherrywood for my plastics/c-rigs. Every time I switch to a higher $$ rod I switch back. Even my new $100 rods I hate them. The newer mouse traps ain't working for me.

St Croix now has what looks like their whole inventory of Rage series rods in their Bargain Room for $99.  It's built on the same blank as the Avid line, just built in Mexico.  That is a great deal for that rod, and for $200, you can get two different rods.

Not quite accurate I'm afraid. The blanks are rolled using the same graphite. However they are not identical, the Avids are rolled in Park Falls in the USA. The Rages are rolled and built in Mexico. Also can't be sure the man eels and blank designs are 100% identical as a result. Also the warranties are very different. Only you can decide if these things matter for you.

Good point on the warranty, I forgot about that.  The Rage rods also have a different handle.  Still a great deal.

Agree...if the Rage was on your radar then the current deal on them is very compelling.
