  1. I had Conquest on that rod for a while, and Ultra Soft 15 pound is a .405 MM line so I think it will be fine.
  2. Just pay the 300 dollars for Metanium 13 shipped from Japan.
  3. The diameter of Yozuri hybrid and CX isn't even close for each respective "ratings"
  4. Worse version of P-Line PF original.
  5. Same thing as what Rick Clunn did with Vision Oneten.
  6. Looking forward to coming back to Maryland from CT to do some fishing, during the week of 15-21st. Crossing my fingers that ice would be melted!
  7. This is not true. Japanese retailers value honesty, fairness, and customer satisfaction above pretty much everything else, so very very unlikely that they risk their reputation to make few bucks by ripping someone off.
  8. Not a good deal at all. I paid 98 dollars for mine.
  9. Ordered on Wednesday, came in today
  10. If you are ok with a 6 foot 2 piece high end rod, World Shaula 1604SS-2 (15grams to 80 grams) will do the job you want. It's designed to throw big top water for rainforest area and jigging in offshore settings.
  11. A lot lighter, so easier to make balanced blank. It also increases sensitivity.
  12. I would get the 100HG 2014 conquest. Amazing palm-ability of 50s with much improved inner workings. The older conquest does win in looks though.
  13. The wide wobble, and strong smell of the Swing Impact Fats should draw in fish, whatever the water clarity is. Strong color also helps .
  14. I will be a skeptic, until more people get it... Pretty disappointed with the direction IMX line headed.
  15. I do not believe they are trying to bypass the rules, because those companies rely on significant customer relations, which makes up significant part of its value, to throw that away by making illegal cost cutting procedures. I honestly don't care where things are made, as long as I am getting exceptional quality of products. I just want to say that the argument you and floridafishingfool make on how you can "shop" around, and get 30 dollars product that has equivalent performance as a 180 dollars one is simply unrealistic.
  16. I would say from my small amount of readings, that they are very very similar. The Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) a government entity, organized all of the private companies in Japan, similar to how the government is interacting with Chinese companies for international trades.
  17. I studied enough economic history to know that, Japanese companies drove a lot of US ones out of jobs back in the days with some sneaky tactics
  18. No...it doesn't. FTC says that you can put the "made" in trademark as long as 75% of the cost of manufacturing is incurred in a country.
  19. I am afraid that I do not own a 180 dollar Shimano reel made in China. Sure, it may have parts of it that is made in China, but I trust their QC to GENERALLY make the right decision to source the best parts. Why is that reel 30 dollars? It's because the sales team of that company looked at rest of the products available, and found the most competitive price range for its product, while making the most gross sales. Could that reel be the right one for you? Sure, of course it can! But do not think you are outsmarting the market (very very very few people can do such a thing), by calling it a "better" product.
  20. I sent you a link.
  21. Got my Metanium 13 tuned and installed with some color parts and KTF spool. Pretty happy that it casts 1/8oz jigs 24 meters. Not chocolate, but much sweeter
  22. Nope. It feels like Shimano is pretty content with the 50E, since they are releasing different versions of it (Brenious). They will eventually pull the trigger some where down the line though.
  23. No source on when or whether it will come out, but its been the natural progression for the Shimano line ups. The 50 size is extremely popular in US and Japan, so no reason they won't make one for 200 dollar ish range.
