  1. Much appreciated! I just want to know what the community does also!
  2. I've just never used a caster nor practiced with one so that's why I've wanted to stick with spinning. I'd love to get a caster but itd have to be cheap lol
  3. So it's a good idea to put braid on the MF? I never considered that!
  4. Well, I have a few questions regarding rigging techniques for certain baits in my box! Reaction Strike Fathead Jr 4" RageTail Rage Toad Z-Man Saw Tail WormZ Those are the two baits I'm assuming everybody has tried at least once or some still love to use. Here are a few that I received in my MTB within the past two months. Stanley Sidewinder Worms which have a rattle chamber on the end to add rattles BoneHead Tackle's 7" Ring Worms I have a few "Weighted Stroker" hooks from Moaner and I use those with my Structure Bugs & when I use my Rage Toad. I don't know if these are the best for the lure but any help will do! THANKS GUYS
  5. I've been using Strenn Mono for the longest time and that's what my dad has used all his life.
  6. So, I now have three rods(nothing incredible but I'm sure they'll be good for me). I would like to know what I should use, which line and whatever else you recommend for each rod. 6'6 Medium Heavy Abu Garcia Vengeance Spinning Rod || 1/4 - 3/4 Lure || 8-14lb Line paired with a Quantum Optix-40 || 5:3:1 Ratio 6'6 Medium Fast Shimano Sojourn Spinning Rod || 1/8 - 5/8 Lure || Mono: 6-14lb / PowerPro: 10-20lb Line paired with a Quantum Optix-30 || 5:2:1 6'6 Medium Berkley Lightning Rod Shock || 1/8 - 3/4 Lure || Fireline: 8-15lb / Trilene: 4-12lb Line paired with a Cardinal353i || 5:1:1 So basically, these are the three rods I have along with the reels. Based on that, what do you guys recommend as far as line and technique per rod? Also, if a specific reel should not go with the rod I have it with, let me know. I'm looking for another rod to serve specifically as a frog rod here soon but let me know what you guys think. I'd love any and all feedback. Hopefully this is the last time I'll have to post about this before I start getting even more results than I had last year. THANKS GUYS
  7. I didn't hook em. They hit it and I reacted too early haha. Do I need a leader with top water frogs? I have a Hell of a time getting good movement with them! Well, I only used my spot bronzeye shad. I tried my horny toads and my rage toads but I never ever have luck on those and I'm using the moaner screwlocks with the weight
  8. I just got done fishing the spro bronzeye shad around treelines. Had about 6 bites but couldn't get any of em. The frog doesn't have good movement with this braid. It always walks to the left
  9. I've always used 10-12# mono on my spinning setup and it works/worked perfectly. Thanks for the help guys!
  10. No, haha. I was just asking like, which is better for the frogs and shakeyheads between the two rods?
  11. Thanks! I use Strenn 12lb mono. Any other advice?
  12. Thanks! I use Strenn 12lb mono. Any other advice?
  13. It was the first time I was there since last year, I'm from the Hershey area. I walk up the trail to the right towards the riprap and fished the cove before it in the coontail. Landed plenty of big fish last year but this year, I couldn't catch anything. Had trouble in the rip-rap too. It was annoying. It was the last bit of Shake2's, they only had 3 and they were on sale. I was shocked! They have the Cavitron Buzzbaits too which is super surprising because I thought I coulld only buy those online!
  14. So, I finally went all in and got some braid. Now, this is the obvious follow up to my last post. *How essential is a leader if I'm only fishing in a lake with coontails? *Can I fish topwater frogs with this braid? *Are shakeyheads good to use with this? The knot I used was, once through lures eye, then back through; then I pinch at the eyelet and wrap around 5 times then put back through the lines eye and pull tight. I want to maximize the uses for this. I have 12# mono on a 6'6 MF rod. I'm going to post up my lures/plastics and I'd like an answer as to which rod I should use. My apologies with all of these "which line" posts lately but I'm just trying to get to the bottom of it and I know you guys are the best group online! --Spro Bronzeye Shad65 --Zoom Horny Toad --Rage Toad --Shakeyheads --Squarebill --Rat'L Trap --Senko --Topwater Poppers --Cavitron Buzzbaits
  15. Thanks everybody! I can only purchase yozuri co-poly online right? Also, any good scissors recommended?
  16. Awesome! So 150yds is 12.99 at bps. That's what I'm going in on! Also, what color should I get?
  17. Thanks guys, I'm gonna go to bass pro tomorrow. power pro, you're saying 20# will work?
  18. If the Flouro i'm using is too heavy, does that mean I won't cast as far?
  19. I'm just getting into it so i'll start out cheaper and if i love it, i'lll move up haha PowerPro, what's the best color? Yellow or Green? Also, for what uses will I need a leader? Lastly, i have no idea what this knot is called but when I tie my mono, I pinch the line and twist and run the end through the small loop near the lure and then pull that tight and sinch the line down tight. Will that work on braid?
  20. When you say it's too heavy, are you saying that it won't cast as far either?
  21. Yeah, appreciated! I only fish with spinning gear so I'll be seeing what I should do here.
  22. Strictly spinning! I'll add that to the post. Sorry!
