  10. whats everyones opinion of the curado i? i picked one up right when they were released in 7:2:1 but havent used it yet cuz i just got the rod for it. out of the box it feels way overgreased but im gonna spool it up this evening and see how it does
  11. yea i got it for 69. all the models sold out quick except the frog and crankbait models so i chose the frog. hopefully theyll get some of the others back in stock soon.

  13. ive got pp on one rod for 2yrs now and its barely lost its color and didnt hav the issue of the pieces of braid flaking off in my reel. i just wanted to try somethin that was a little less noisy and smoother. the mccoys casts great but these other issues i cant handle.
  14. i ordered some sunline fx. if that braid doesnt do it for me ill just use powerpro.
  15. it isnt really fraying i guess. its lost half its color after 30 mins of fishing and theres tiny strands of the line caked up in my reel hard to explain wish i could post a pic
  16. its also lost a TON of color. after 30 mins of fishing. my line is nearly white
  17. just put some 65lb mccoys braid on my rod and went fishing and im noticing where the braid goes thro the guide into the reel theres small pieces of braid everywhere. like its slowly fraying off or something. checked my rod guides theyre fine. my line guide on the reel seems fine. no sharp edges or anything. is this typical for freshly spooled braid?
  18. this season ive blown some savings on a fee rods and reels. was wondering if im on the right track here. i may add another setup or two. heres what i got now: powell diesel 705cb. - gonna pair it with a citica e when i can find one. use for shallow to mid cranks and maybe some topwater like popRs shimano crucial 6'6 mhf - right now using for buzzbaits and spinnerbaits. hav a lews tp 6:4:1 on it cabelas tournament zx 7'3 frog rod - lews super duty 7:1:1 powell max 683 - just picked this up. unsure what ill use it for. unsure of what reel am i off to a good start here? any suggestions for another setup or two? i definitely want to get a solid texas rig rod. was using a basspro graphite series medium heavy for that the past few yrs want to upgrade that rod
  19. for those that hav this rod what applications do u use it for? i just picked one up. think its a bit light for t-rigs so i may get another rod for that but to those that hav used this rod what type of baits does it handle best?
  20. yea man i was surprised at how light it was especially for a 7'3 99 dollar rod i did notice 2 of my guides r slightly misaligned but nothing major its my first 7'3 rod i love picking it up
  21. i have the frog rod and love it. thing is way lighter than i thought it would be. the winn grips feel great in your hands. lotta backbone
  22. webertime would u say the components on the original excel are higher quality than the new ones? the guides, reel seat etc. or is the new one the best bang for the buck
