Throw him a hot dog. Seriously. I used to fish this small pond. Threw everything at them. Though not much pressure on the fish they were still picky as hell. One day I took my young daughter with me and she was "ootzy" about baiting the hook. I told her that we would stop at the local mom and pop grocery and buy some cheap hot dogs to bait her hook(s). She gave me a funny look but I assured here that it would work. We bought a $1 package of wieners and away we went. She placed about a 1/2 inch of dawg on her 2/0 hook and in less than 1 minute BANG. She landed a 3 pound LM. I was so proud of her. She kept saying "dad, it's a big one" while she was reeling it in. Oh well, had to share.

I have used jigs to success but I always find myself moving away from them to other "stuff". But not this year. If you see me using anything other than a jig I give you permission to slap me.

I am going to force myself to use jigs this year. I am a bank fisherman but I have some great summer places to do just that. I will keep an extra rig for OTHER types of fishing if I get bored but I will be damned if I do not do at least 90% of my bass fishing with jigs this summer.

I use a Dobyns 735C FH with a Lew's Pro-Z. IMHO the best froggin' rig for the money.

Buy one of everything and have fun.

Clipped a tree branch while shore fishing a couple of weeks ago. First one in a long time. What really ticked me off was I did not have a back up rig with me. Had to go home and get one.

I have 2. A supreme XT on a *** *** 7'1" HF and a Patriarch on a Powell Endurance 7'1" HF. I really like both reels very much. She is a damned fine woman thinking of you at a timelike that.

I have the HMX medium rod with a Pfleuger reel and I love it. I use it for salmon, browns, and steelies in and around lake ontario and love it. I would not trade it for anything. However if someone wanted to GIVE me a...oh well, never mind. This rig is the real deal.

I have that same real on a *** Black, 7'1" HF. I love the set up. The real is excellent. Oh yeah, the rod is great too.

To those of you that think Stewart should be charged with a crime. If someone stepped out in front of you while driving down main street in your home town and you hit and killed said person, do you think you should be charged with a crime? Anyone that says he "hit the gas" to hit Ward are wrong. I have watched a couple of different videos at least 20x each and in neither is there any evidence he accelerated. His car did take a turn to the right but this is due to the laws of physics. If a 1400 lb car (the minimum a sprint car can weigh in this class) hits a 175 lb object on its RH side the car will naturally move to the right. There is NO evidence of a crime here. Not that it means anything but Canandaigua is where I live. I could hear the racing last night from my front porch. I live about 1 mile from the track as the crow flies. At about 10:30 everything stopped. I did not know why it ended. Unfortunately for Ward and his family it ended as it did. My thoughts are with them and Stewart as I believe that in NO way was this intentional.

FWIW...I use a surgeon's knot from fly line to 20lb braid leader and another surgeon's knot from braided leader to flouro leader on my trout and salmon fishing rigs and they have never failed.

I have 3 rigs. All have left hand reels. I am right handed. I cast right with great accuracy and feel. I reel left handed because I believe I have better setting power and over-all feel of the rod and its action when controlling with my right hand/arm. Reeling left just seems to come natural for me. However, when I flip baits I flip left handed and then change hands to reel left. Still feels totally natural. Just my $2.57 worth.
