Rainy, Muddy Conditions in Winter
I fish a small lake in the winter that gets muddy and had ice on the banks with a Huddleston 68. The fishing is slower, but you still catch nice fish if you SLOW your retrieve down!

Humminbird 899Ci Hd Si Combo $799 Good Buy?
I just bought a couple of days ago on Black Friday the Humminbird® 899ci HD SI Navionics®+ Combo for $749.99 at Cabela's. I thought I got a good price, but I'm new to electronics. I've only had a Fishin Buddy 140c on my kayak to this point, so lots to learn now.

Boat Or Kayak
I have two 12' Hobie Pro Anglers which are pedal and 2 Wilderness kayaks (Commander 120 & Tarpon 100) which are paddles. They all have there place, but I enjoy the Pro Angler the best. Like mentioned above depends on fishing you want to do, how you plan to transport, etc. Best advice is go do demos before buying (I did) and it's the best thing to do. Some kayaks you get in don't track right no matter how hard you try and others I felt wanted to flip me they felt so unstable to me. I'm very comfortable with the ones I have because of demos and I have been in rough water with them. You get what you pay for also!! Good luck!!

Looking To Pick Up A Kayak
Good advice above in posts! I have two 12' Hobie Pro Anglers which are pedal and 2 Wilderness kayaks (Commander 120 & Tarpon 100) which are paddles. Kayak Fishing Rod Selection
I carry 4 rods from 7' 3" to 8' in length and have no issues with them. I also have a Hobie Pro Angler so I lay 2 rods on both sides so trees, brush etc. isn't a problem. Only thing I do watch is the length of the butt. For example I have a Dobyns 806, but I didn't get the Dobyns 806 with the Mike Long handle due to being too long for me from a kayak. I've had friends and family tell me they didn't like fishing with the longer butt also so after I tried a friends I decided on the normal butt handles which depends on brand also. Best thing to do is if you have friends that you fish with ask if you can try their rods out and see what you like.

Possible Plot To Kill The California Delta
Yeah after they screw the CA Delta they still will do the same thing to Clear Lake because of the Hitch. Can you see nice tourney bags after weigh in being destroyed? Only option to avoid this and hope the bill gets killed/changed before it passes at next level. Between this, the tunnels and banning lead fishing products in CA they're trying to screw fisherman in name of water rights is what it comes down to. Sign petitions, send emails (Restore the Delta and Western Bass has links) and do whatever you can because the fisherman is against big money when water is involved!

Kayak Fishing
Agree with what everyone says about safety and PDF if you haven't kayaked before, especially on bigger water. Make sure you secure your items in case you tip over. I have (knock on wood) never tipped, but secure everything but the rod in my hand just in case it should ever happen. Let someone learning about kayaks try mine once and used there's meanwhile, and for some unknown reason it just flipped. On mine I've been in whitecaps heading home for short distances on main lake area at times and always still felt safe so a good kayak helps you also.

Swimbait Question
I was the same way in the beginning with pricey swimbaits I bought, so I got more affordable swimbaits and practiced around, over, between trees and anything else I knew held fish. Also get a good plug retreiver it paid for itself the 1st time my Bullshad got hung up on a deep branch as well as saving many other swimbaits since.
