  1. We call them mudfish around here and i hate them. Yes they put up a heck of a fight and are fun to catch. They arent safe to eat and you gotta know how to clean and cook them. They can take over anybody of water
  2. Any body out there fishing the savannah river don't seem like i can't find anyone. Guess everyone is scarred of the glowing fish. lol Post some pics and some success storys if you got any.
  3. Ill be there sunday to see the big weighin. My first time going to something like this but it will definatly be worth the 2 hour drive and ill be camping at dreher island were there taking off at. I don't have a clure what to expect.
  4. Do i need to talk to DNR about laws on haveing tournaments with a small group of guys? Sounds like an excellent club. Does your club have to sign any law agreements or have insurance anything of that nature?
  5. Anybody going to the forrest wood cup at lake murray. I gotta go see this i thinks its gonna be awesome to see some of the greatest anglers battle it out. Anyone ever been to another forrest wood cup. what do i need to expect and what do i need to take. Im going camping at the state park they will be taking off from. My girlfriend is going with me but shes getting annoyed cause of how excited i am. lol I didn't get out much when i was a kid
  6. Well that sounds like a good idea. I want a real club though but not a big time thing. I don't know how to really explain
  7. Yall gave me exactly what i needed. Great advice!!! thanks. Im still young and never been involved in any type of club or group so i know nothing. I just never thouhgt it would be so much complication in haveing a little fun and competition.

I wanna start a club for all the local fisherman in my community. A lot of people including me don't wanna go through this huge thing like legal stuff and insurance. They just want to pay dues have get togethers, meeting, put on events, and club tournaments. Only one person wants to get involved with bass or flw. We wanna get together as fisherman and have fun and maybe have a little competition. Is there anything wrong with this and would we still have to get insurance and register legaly. Our goal is to get to know other avid anglers, teach, learn, and give the knowledge people need to know to keep our waters healthy. Anyone have advice for that
  9. Its all about trying to change someones mind on if they really wanna go through all the work to get your trailer so the harder it is to lock it up the harder time they are gonna have to work to steel it. If they want it they are gonna get it but the way i look at it is if someones gonna steal from me they aren't gonna have much cause they are gonna ruin it when they try to take off with it. If i can't have it no one is. When i go off somewere i think there is a chance of my trailer beeing stolen (wich it can be stolen anywere) I go through the trouble of taking all the lugs of my tires except one and its a locking nut. Chances of the tire coming off is probably small but i do what i can do defer the theif and hope it comes off and ruins everything. I have been working on a device that folds down from the trailer and slides into the wheel hopefully it will work.
  10. Yes!!! and it is a good idea to find a way to make sure the ball can't bee stolen either. I was out fishing one day when i got back i was backing my trailer down and something did not sound right. I got out and look and the nut holding the ball on to the hitch was almost off. I did not just come loose on its own. So i tack welded it on to the reciever.
  11. It averages 11 ft but i have found spots that are 25 im guessing those are the pockets you are talking about. I surley wish i could afford a power pole that would be awesome.
  12. Ok that sounds good to me there are plenty of trees down and its a big river. Guess ill start were trees are fallen into an eddie. Just wish there was a way to sit in place without haveing to tie off. Can't throw out an anchor cause a anchor wont even hold a john boat in place in this river. First time i tried an anchor i about sunk the boat the, i don't have that anchor anymore. I guess football jigs, texas rigged worms, square bills? and like mass said spinner baits. Do you pull these baits up current, down, across? I'm gonna go at it tomorrow and see what i can do. Thnks for advice it helps alot.
  13. In my local river i usual find lakes natural lakes that are made off the river and fish in them but ive been really curious since the water is alot cooler in the main river if fishing would be productive or even possible. The current in this river is very strong but there are lots of fishy places. I do catch an abundant amount of redbreast in the main river tied off to a branch of a tree or anthing that is strong enough to hold me. My trolling motor does not have the power to hold me in place to present a lure. Should i just stick in the lakes for bass or should i try it out if so what would yall suggest.
  14. oh ok he got me worried for a minute there.
  15. I think im gonna join up its the closest thing to me. I just don't wanna be getting intosomething were people are stuck up not willing to have a new guy on there boat. Sounds good to me though
  16. Anybody out there. I'm thinking bout joining up to in the south carolina division. I wanna start out co-angling. Any opinons on the ABA and how welcome beginners and co anglers are?
  17. Have you fished as a co angler in the ABA. I wanna start tournament fishing and it looks like im gonna go with ABA but im gonna have to start out as a co angler. I wanted to know if it was a posotive experience or negative and how do the boaters feel about haveing a co angler.
  18. Ok your heading out to a river or lake youve never fished. You are at bass pro and you need to stock your new tackle box because all your tackle got stolen. you know nothing about this lake or river accept what you can see when you get there. What all would you get to fish with type of lures, colors, weights, hooks?
  19. I have fished little tournaments localy and i have place 1st twice and 2nd 3 times within 3 years they are just for the public to have fun. I love fishing but i also have started a career as an electrician so i don't get to just go out and do what ever. So i am haveing to find a way to move up a little. I really don't wanna go big i just wanna go out and have friendly but tough competition. I have a bass boat but no insurance on it so i will probably have to be a co angler. I wanna know what all you guys have done to tournament fish but still work a full time job and don't have all the money in the world. I have checked out TBF but it just seems like it takes alot. When it comes down to it i wanna see what i really got without haveing to commit just maybe 2 or three tournaments. My hat goes off to all of you who dedicate all you free time to these tournament trails.
  20. Wow thanks for all the inputs. Don't sound to good and thank yall so much for the advice maybe i will just save up until i retire and start a business then. Ive already taken some buisness classes and they helped alot with my idea of opening a business. I will never give up wanting to do this but the way it sounds i need to wait. I kinda had the idea that it wasnt a good idea, that is in the aspect of making a liveing it would be just really fun and a good adventure. Thanks everyone awesome advice
  21. Awesome guys that is seriously alot of help. I know its gonna take alot of dedication but ive got a savings account ive had going for this for a long time and i think 2 more years and i will hopefully have the odds and ends together and be able to have the support of my town and have the supply and demand i need to make this succesfull and keep get things going thanks!!!!
  22. Like you said GAdawgs the internet has an unlimited amount of resources and its very hard to compete with. I figured there would be some takle shop owners on here that could give some advice and what were some of the things they did to be succesful. Thanks
  23. ive researched legal things. Promotional things. It will still be a good while but i want my p's and q's straight before i go head on into this. Thats why i started this to get as much insight as possible from others who have had some experience. I don't wanna get into something i can't handle or just won't work out in my area.
  24. Well thats another thing i need to know is how and were to get these cheap prices for so customers can afford to shop with me.
  25. Hello everyone in fishing land. I have been reasearching for 2 years now on everything on getting a store started. I have been wanting to start a fishing takle store in my town for a long time because the nearest place to buy a good assortment of takle and get what you need is bass pro a hour and a half away. I wanna start this for the people of my town to be able to stay near home and be able to get what they need with ease. Also have a place for local fisherman to come and talk with others, throw parties and other events that involve fishing to get the younger generation to learn and get the respect for fish. We have a small lake and we have a big river about 15 min away from our town. Our town is not a big place and buisness's don't last long usually but they might not last long because of other reasons i don't know. I am very good with people i worked in a grocery store for 3 years and i did everything and its alot of work owning your own business wich i have never done and im only 22. I wants some opinions and advice before i go all the way with this big decision. Thanks (yes i have misspelled alot of things in this forum but thats because im doing this on a phone and its hard to go back and correct)
