  1. 85 degree water, windy, stained water, clear skys.
  2. I like that quote havent heard that one in a long time. Will ill have to try that out the more things i get a chance to try the better thanks
  3. Folks out there in fishing land. Ive been bass fishing for a little while and im getting the hang of it and figureing out how to work all the diffrent lures. But what stumps me is what to use and when to use it. Sometimes i can go out and have a pretty good day and limit out easy and then later not catch one and fish in every area known to man. I'm having complications figureing this out. I go out there with whatever i think this fish will bight not having the knowledge on what works best at certain times and what works best in certain conditions. I know it takes time to find fish and i see them on the depth finder and i know how they look on there cause ive caught them using it before. I just don't have the knowledge i guess to put together the pieces in the way an experienced fisherman would do. Everything i know has pretty much been guess work on my own and what ive learned on here. What do yo guys do to figure out what you are gonna use and when to use it.
  4. I have a little local tournament coming up. Its just a tournament for fun. I was just trying to get some ideas and input on how you would approach the water. Lure colors and type lures you would use. There are very few contours and the ones that are there are a slow drop, but there is a long grass line(gator grass) a good many stumps. Can only use a trolling motor because of the stumps out there its to dangerous. Its dark brown water/staind. The water is 85 degrees right now. I can't wait to get out there and learn something new
  5. I gotcha. I think its a defect in the lense. So that should be covered under the lifetime warranty. Luck is how i got them. Its actually a old friend of mine. He won some costas and i told him id give him 50 for his old ones then we meet in the middle i gave him 80. Good investment i believe.
  6. I looked at the page and yes it says 11.95 but thats if the warranty covers it. Im asking what it cost because i have been reading up alot on this and ive heard people having problems with the warranty. Costa saying that the problems with the glasses are the persons fault so that costa can charge them to fix it. I don't know either persons case so the people saying that it wasnt their fault could have been full of crap. My problem looks as if its inside the glass. they are 400g. I only wanted to know what to expect or have an idea. Thanks
  7. But how much are they gonna charge me?
  8. I just recently boat some triple tail 400g blue mirror costas. I paid $80 they are in pretty good shape but on the blue mirror partthe color is starting to fade at the top of the lenses. I was thinking about sending them to Costa to get new lenses. Should that be covered under the warranty? If not how much is it gonna cost and I don't wanna be ripped off saying they weren't takin care of because these things don't have a scratch on them. They are not fake. Any one had this problem?
  9. If ya really wanna know what looks the best and has the best action just find a pool and practice with diffrent stuff and figure it out. Ive tried both salt and original zoom trick worm and they both fall over and they both stand up, there is a slight diffrence but its hardly noticable. Just be careful if its a soft sided pool don't wanna get a hole in it. lol. I also strongly agree with bluebasser.
  10. Like i said i was around when they bought them. She bought them off the costa website.
  11. Yea they aren't counterfit. I know the person well and they arent capable and i was around when they bought them. I'm goin for it Thanks guys
  12. I know the pro anglers go into bodys of water for tounaments after alot of research and studying of maps. But i wanna see what they do when they don't have the resources like most every day people. Or just having a very seasoned angler to fish with. But what you said you can only getter better by getting out there and doing and practice. I will take everything you said and go with it. Im really glad to see people are out there that will share their knowledge. Thanks man and good luck to ya
  13. I hope so to. Wish i could get a pro angler the lake and see what they do.
  14. Hey man any ideas on how to get a topo for this thing i think ive tried everything i have even started a forum for ideas on getting one. Been given ideas but no luck. It would be a huge help and anything i need to do let me know. I don't have a clue. lol Thanks for the advice to. I'm gonna get to work to learnin more
  15. I have a guy selling some costa 400g blue mirror triple tail sunglasses for $90. Got 2 small scratches in places you don't notice unless you take glasses off. Is this worth it?
  16. https://www.dnr.sc.gov/mlands/managedland?p_id=96 Thats the link to the lake. The lake is not very pressured in my onpinon i go buy there daily and there will be maybe 2 boats every other day. alot of bank fisherman but they can't get to very many spots. The water is dark brown. I will usually start out on the grass line that goes approximatly 2 to 3 miles maybe. Gator grass. I fish that with chartruess and white bledding buzz bait and a weightless worm. Throwing the worm onto the grass and letting it fall off slowly that has worked greatly for me in the past and a carolina rig. Worm colors i use is occochobee craw, bubblegum (my favorite) and watermelon. Then sometime i go with the buzz bait, jig(green pumpkin super chunk jr. with a green and orange skirt and sometimes blue) love fishing a jig, or crainkbait to the stumps, i get very aggervated with crank baits so i only have 4(shad colors) its 7 to 5 ft there. Ive caught a few here and there with those tactics. Bluegill, Crappie, i can't fighure out the main forage for the bass to be honest. The end with the spill way has rocks on it and it has a pretty quick drop to 6 ft but ive fished everything i got in my tackle box all the way down those rocks fishing slow, fast, pulling it down the drop. Nevery caught anything there but thats were all the people fish. Its really hard to fish slow for me unless the wind is not blowing. To be honest i have never paid attention to the conditions except for clowdy days. I use my basics from early on that because i have that confidence in them wich i know that can either make you or break you. Hope all that helps ya out. I need all the help i can get. I just got out of beginner phase of bass fishing in my opinion. There is only one man that people know of around here that could go to that lake and catch a mess of bass every time but he died before i ever got to fish with him and learn. I don't know any close people that bass fish. So im on my own and im not giving up. Thanks
  17. Thanks for the advice man.
  18. I had finally gotten into bass fishing so i invested in a baitcaster got good with it. So i made my buddy get one, if he was gonna get serious as i was about bass fishing. He finally got it down pretty decent so we headed to the river and got in one of the natural lakes off the river. This lake has tons of trees hanging over the water and it seamed that was were my friend was aiming lol every other cast we had to go to the tree and grab the stupid crankbait. I had finally had enough and it was a tree we couldn't reach by hand i took the reel from him and started snatching and shacking the tree then wap! wap! two water mocassins fall on the front deck of the boat with me one lands on my foot and i sling him to the back of the boat and my friend didn't know what was going on so all he could do was trip and fall out the boat when he seen a snake. I think that baitcaister is still hanging in that tree from six years ago. lol Earlier this week we took my little john boat to the swamp and i was fishing on a cooler in the middle of the john boat and my buddy (same guy from earlier) makes a sudden movement and there i go in the water back first. Took 2 seconds to get back in the boat. Goin over a tree farther down the swamp he was yanking on the boat standing on a tree trying to get over the tree laying down. Splash down he went. We don't have phones anymore

  20. A lot of people including me are having trouble at out local lake wich people have always had trouble here. They say the fish in this lake have major issues. Its a decen't sized lake or big pond as others say. Ive been fishing here since i was tiny with my dad. He was a catfish guy so i can go out there and catch the limit on 20 pounders easy. Ive been teaching myself to bass fish and taking advice from everyone on here wich is alot of great advice. Still not good at it i think!! Been bass fishing for 6 years now by myself. All the younger people in our area come to me for advice on fishing. I don't know why but they do. lol. This is a state park lake and very stumpy so your not aloud to use over a 9.9 horse motor. I have to use my trolling motor wich takes 30 min to get to my first fishing spot usually(wich isn't that far). So that makes it pretty hard on locating fish with my depth finder and finding points and drop offs. The contour of the lake stays pretty much the same through out, drop offs here and there. Its a staind water lake. It averages 7 ft and 12 ft in some spots. One day i can go out there catch the limit and some; on the grass line that goes all the way down one side of the lake. Next day i can go through my whole takle box and only catch one fish. I'm pretty sure i'm missing something. Anybody have suggestions and if you need more details to help me out i can give all the details you want as you can see i bable alot lol.
  21. Alright guys thanks for the advice. ill throw that 800 out and start out with the 1500 were the oxidation isn't so bad. By the way im doin this all by hand lol.
  22. They had 2 options at the time and i had a good deal on the 4 cylinder so thats what i got.
  23. I guess ill try that out i saw somewere the 800 to 1500 somewere so i went with that. Thanks
  24. The oxidation on my boat has gotten pretty bad and to make it worse its a black boat. I got some 3m rubbing compound and 800 grit 1000 grit and 1500 grit sandpaper. Started with the 800. After sanding i rubbed the compound in until the swirls were gone. Then put a good coat of turtle wax over that. It looks great but i can see the sanding swirls in it, but can only see up close. Looks awesome up against the rest of the boat. Any one have advice before i do the rest of the boat ive seen another forum that kinda gave me an idea. In other words i just don't wanna ruin my boat. (i only did a 1 ft section just to try it out) Thanks
