  1. Bass Pro wallets with a livewell full of extra bags. I usually keep them separated by what type of plastic. Swimbaits and jerkbaits in one wallet, senko style and wacky worms in one, tailed worms and grubs in another, craws in another, lizards in another and then I have a misc one with creatures and plastic topwater baits...and last but not least, 1 for all my trailers. I don't really use tubes so thats really the only thing I don't have for plastic baits. I have too many plastic baits without them hehe.
  2. Interesting, I am going to have to pick one of these up and try it out. I am a big fan of the SK rocket shad. It also has a floating hook, but the bait is tiny. I would love a 3/8 oz rocket shad and this strikeback seems to be the closest thing to it. Thanks for sharing papajoe!
  3. Thanks a lot guys! Just opened the package and so far I am impressed. Love the blue, its hard to find a blue rod these days. Gonna get these new Lew's reels loaded up with line and take them out tonight for a few casts and see how they do. Thanks again for the feedback, I want to make sure my money is well spent.
  4. I love the Onisuka Tigers, they just are too thin in the cup for my wide feet.
  5. Hello everyone, I just recently ordered a few Daiwa T Rods from TW. I haven't really used any of their stuff before and was turned off a few years back when a friend bought a daiwa rod and reel combo and the reel started to squeak the first time out and started grinding by the end of the day. Anyway I ordered a few Daiwa T Rods as back ups to my usual St Croix rods because the price was just too good. What are your experiences with Daiwa rods and reels? Good or bad and everything in between, I would like to hear it all. Thanks and keep tight lines everyone!
  6. None. I love to fish barefoot. I will wear flip flops this time of year but once I am out on the water, those come off and get tossed in a corner. If I have to wear shoes(its cold) I prefer and old pair of vans or anything with a thin sole. I'm going to try out my new crocs and see if those work half way decent. I don't like wearing anything heavy like boots, basketball shoes, running shoes or anything with a thick hard sole.
  7. Try June bug in clear water and the pumpkinseed and watermelon in the dingy spots. As far as techniques, you can go through every one of them. If you really want to catch fish easily, t-rig with a 1/8 oz or 1/4oz tungsten bullet weight, a red glass bead and a 4/0 hook. Put on something with a tail. Cast it out and start reeling slow with the rod tip down pointed at the water, stopping if you feel a bump. Watch your line, if it starts moving, reel in the slack and set the hook. If it doesn't, its probably structure so start reeling slow again. Sometimes fish will thump it, give it a second or 2, reel in the slack and set the hook. Sometimes its a tick tick, sometimes your line will go slack. You have to pay attention and really concentrate when fishing plastics. Hope this helps.
  8. I'd have to go with a KVD swim'n caffeine shad or swim'n shiner on a 4/0 or 5/0 weightless Owner twist lock hook. Cast it and let it sink for about 4 to 5 seconds and then i start bouncing it back to the boat. The fish are inhaling so far coming outta the spawn. The hooks have been in the back of the mouth on almost every fish I have caught in the last 3 days.
  9. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, its slow to fast; Monday and Saturday, its fast to slow; Friday its anything goes and Sunday is breakfast at Denny's On a more serious note, its usually fast bait, slow bait. The crankbait and most moving baits are for finding fish. The slow moving plastics and vertical baits like jigs are for when you have found the fish and need to get them to bite.
  10. The Owner camo hooks are nice. So far they have been hooked in the top of the mouth or in the corner of the jaw. I really like them a lot. I haven't used the mosquito hooks yet...
  11. I recently had a problem with a certain spinnerbait, the blade fell off. I contacted the company to buy more blades and they told me to send it back and they would send me 2 replacement spinnerbaits. They did exactly that and I used 1 of the replacements and the blade fell off that one as well. I still have the 3rd but I haven't tied it on because the season for the color has passed and I don't want to lose another blade. The other day I noticed the loop was a bit open so it's kinda my fault for not looking the bait over. I suggest always checking the loop and making sure its closed all the way.
  12. Red shad Yum Dinger. It always catches fish for me no matter which way I rig it.
  13. Should work the same as a heat shrink, only a couple of problems I see using electrical tape. The water will wash the glue on the tape away and it will fall off eventually. Could be 3 casts. 5 casts. 10 casts but its going to fall off. Also the glue might throw the flavor off for the fish, then again they could like it.
  14. X5 or a chatter bait, anything with flash and a lot of vibration.
  15. Owner wacky jigheads or the VMC wacky jigheads. I use 1/16 and 1/8 oz. The Gamas are way too expensive! I use owner swimbait hooks both weighted and non weighted. They give the bait a great wobble!
  16. Do some research(google is our friend) to find out what kind of stuff lives in the lakes and rivers around where you live. Find out what kind of shad, bluegill, small fish, crayfish, frogs, worms, lizards, salamanders, newts, bugs, etc. Pay attention to the colors. This can be the first clue as to what lures you should be using. Find out what the fish eat naturally in your area and you can get a pretty good idea as to what plastic baits to use.
  17. What colors are you using? What do the fish eat in your fishing spots? Baitfish? Crayfish? Worms?
  18. Froggin! I'd twitch that frog really slow on that slop and speed it up a little over the pockets. Shallow water, the bass will ambush from all directions!
  19. Weightless wacky, weighted wacky jigheads are my favorite ways to fish them. I also like to do a weightless texas rig with a nail weight in the tail and shake it like a shaky head on the bottom. The slimmer profile makes it slip into cover a lot better than a wacky rig.
  20. I have found the Yum Yumdingers to be a good sub for GYCB Senkos. About 2 dollars cheaper on a pack. The SK KVD Ochco is another good substitute as well.
  21. Owner weedless wacky hooks in size 1 and 2/0, depending on cover. In more open water I will use the 2/0 and in heavy cover, I will use the size 1. I also use Owner ultrahead wacky style 1/16 and 1/8 oz weedless jigheads and if those aren't in stock I will use VMC weedless wacky jigheads.
  22. I 2nd this. Wacky rigged senkos catch fish anytime and anywhere.
  23. I've never owned a Duckett but I know that bass pro will only take it with the receipt within 30 days of purchase. After that you have to deal with the manufaturer. As far as warranty, I have no idea if they will cover it. Your best bet is to send Duckett an email and ask them what can be done.
  24. Amazing! Thanks for sharing! I have been thinking about getting into modifying my jigs and spinnerbaits to get some custom colors and you have inspired me to order some strands and try it out.

It usually depends on the clarity of the water, time of day, cloudy vs sunny, etc. Around here its mostly slightly stained to muddy so my color choices are usually dark or super bright. For crankbaits I usually throw black back/chartreuse, green gizzard shad, and Tennessee shad. For spinnerbaits I run the color gambit. White to Black and everything in between. Mostly whites with reds or chartreuse, blacks with blues or reds, purples and i like to paint my black and blue ones with chartreuse tips on the skirt. For plastics I usually throw white pearl dipped in red lure paint leaving the tail white, junebug, red shad, green pumpkinseed, watermelon red flake, pretty much anything with black, red or dark purple. I throw a lot of plastic jerkbaits/swimbaits with pearl bellies and the backs are usually green pumpkin, watermelon or no pearl belly and red shad colored all over. I don't really fish top water much, buzz baits annoy the *insert expletive here* out of me. I did buy a sexy frog in green pumpkin/pearl but I still haven't thrown it yet. I used to fish topwater a lot when i was growing up. Pop-Rs and jitterbugs. I liked the idea of being able to see the fish hit the lure instead of feeling the fish hit the lure. I caught 1 fish on a jitterbug and none on a pop-r. I haven't built up enough confidence yet to use topwater lures again.
