  1. Wow...I didn't know reels were tuned like cars hehe. Thanks for sharing the site. BTW, prefectures came from the old fief system from feudal japan, The old provinces ruled by the daimyos basically became the prefectures of today.
  2. I didn't use the LPT much but I will say that fish still hold on to the F2 Dingers. I felt a thump this past summer and just to test how long the fish would hold it i let the fish run around with it before setting the hook. The fish held on a good 30 to 45 seconds before I decided that's enough and hooked him and got him to the boat. Have any of you guys that used the LPT ever do anything similar?
  3. Not feeding is a tactic. If the baitfish get used to its presence, they are less likely to run, which means the bass can use less energy to chase them around. Groupers do this on reefs as well as scorpionfish. As dumb as we want them to be, fish are smart. As smart as they seem, they are still dumb as rocks.
  4. Boat Owner- "Only rule on my boat is no overhand casting" PersicoTrotaVA packs up his stuff and goes home. END OF SCENE I am not going to have anyone tell me how to fish, even if I am on their boat. The overhand cast, especially with a spinning combo, is crucial.
  5. Any of the Keitech jigs. The tungsten gives them a smaller profile. The MONO Spin Jig and the GUARD Spin Jig really take it to the extreme, but guess what? They catch fish, big fish.
  6. yea 29.92 is the norm or 1 atmosphere as a measurment of pressure. When it comes the weather, the norm in some areas can be higher or lower than this number. Not by much but there can be a difference. I like to fish during dropping pressure. Doesn't matter if its over 30 or under 30. If it's dropping, I am usually trying to catch fish.
  7. Oh wow! That Silver Buddy looks cool! I have never fished with one of those. Do you crank it back like a crankbait or jig it like a spoon? I have been throwing a crankbait and it has been working ok. It has been mostly weighted wacky rigged finesse worms that gets them.
  8. I keep forgetting to spool up my spinnerbait rod and bring spinnerbaits with me. I bet they are killing bladed baits right now.
  9. 5 in Yum Dinger. Turn it sideways and hook it through the middle, yup, wacky. On the fall the head and tail of the worm vibrate back and forth and look a lot like crayfish claws fully extended. I haven't fished it much but the strikes I have had on it are massive 4 ft line jumpers or some thunder thumps.
  10. Structure. Even a small little bump or hole is structure. It is something for a fish to use as a reference point. Drop offs, ledges as well. Points as well.
  11. It hasn't happened yet. Ripping topwater baits in the Amazon for monster Peacocks.
  12. People always ask me why I have 6 rods. This is why I have 6 rods. I would be punching but it will be hard with a Medium action rod. You won't be able to get that much weight on that rod. Here is what I would do in your situation. Rig a senko weightless t-rigged. Take a nail weight and stick it in the tail. This gives the senko a more vertical profile so it slides down through the grass easier. You make have to work it a little to get it to drop through but once it does, hang on.
  13. They most certainly do. Well not all together change colors, but they can get darker and lighter. Have you ever seen a bluegill flare in the middle of spawn? They are beautiful. Bass don't only eat baitfish. They eat a multitude of different critters. Crayfish change colors. Tadpoles change color and shape. To me color shade(light or dark) is more important than the actual color. I don't debate the difference between green pumpkin and watermelon black pepper, they are both pretty much the same thing. But I won't throw either in dark murky water. I would be more confident in black with red flake, or black with blue flake.
  14. I caught 1 fish on the flying lure and 1 small little dink on the banjo minnow. Granted I didn't fish either of them very long. I didn't try the helicopter lure, that one was way too out there. I am not saying that Mighty Bite won't work. If I got it as a Christmas gift, I wouldn't be upset and I would fish with it. I would never tie one on for a tournament though and I wouldn't buy it on purpose. I guess I also don't like the fact that I have to order more of them from the company. I can't just go find Mighty Bite plastics at the Tackle shop or on TW.
  15. Because its a gimmick bait. Flying Lure, Helicopter Lure, Banjo Minnow, Mighty Bite, insert dumb name of next gimmick bait. IMHO gimmick baits don't work. Stick to what's proven to catch fish.
  16. TW and local Tackle shops. I am kinda a TW fanboy. Best prices, awesome selection, it's hard to not be.
  17. I know this seems like a generic answer but to me...a senko. Color depends on clarity but probably green pumpkin or watermelon red flake.
  18. This will be my first "winter" in a long while. Living in So Cal the last 7 years I haven't really felt winter. I guess I will fish when I can and buy replacement baits and maybe a few new things. The rods and reels will get serviced and I want to try and build a rod and maybe learn to pour my own plastics and jigs.
  19. There were a lot of DD bass lakes in San Diego when I lived there. Never got a chance to catch one. Now that I am on the east coast not as many DD lakes but the numbers are nice. I fish one spot where I could possibly likely maybe catch a DD fish. Right now if I get a 8lber I will be very happy. It really depends on where you are fishing. I have heard a lot of pros say the same thing. The biggest fish will be in the deepest cover. They will have the prime spots. Pitch a jig right into the middle of it all, the darkest spot. That's where big mamma lives...
  20. It's my God time. It's my connection to my creator and nature. I like bass fishing because of the challenge. Plus there are a lot of cool lures to buy.
  21. Hooksets are free. If it feels like a fish, wack 'em.
  22. Slow down, fish are gonna be moving a little slow. Check the water temps, if its still in the 60s you can use moving baits and ragetails and baits with action. If it drops into the 50s, you are going to want to slow down and kill most action. Suspended jerkbaits. I recommend a weightless wacky worm. You can keep it off the bottom and any subtle movements will get it to twitch. Seeing as you have about 5 ft of clarity(this is clear to me) I would go with natural colored baits. Shad colored hardbaits, green pumpkin and watermelon plastics, watermelon red flake as well. My favorite natural worm color is cola. Try not to go with crazy chartreuse colors or bright pinks. Also dark colors like black and junebug might work but I don't think they will with as clear as the water is. Good luck!
  23. Spinnerbaits and crankbaits. Black, loud, chartreuse, loud, black, rattle, loud, black, colorado blade, loud, black, vibration, loud...black. I think you get the gist of it by now hehe. Good luck!
