  1. The problem with textual communication is the lack of tone & facial expression. You're pretty generous with exclamation points which makes your entire post appear that you are yelling and ticked off...this the entire post will be taken as anger versus something constructive. Since I made a comment that is deep under your skin, I apologize. I have nothing against people with expensive gear. I have issues with people that have more money than sense and feel the deep need to rub your nose in it if you can't keep up, but that's not the issue here. We wouldn't converse like this in public (I would hope), so let's take it down a notch and get back to the OP's topic.
  2. Take it personal much? I'm not taking a personal shot at anyone that owns high end gear. We (rich Americans as a whole) are ego maniacs about our hobbies. I see it with guns, bikes, cars, trucks....fishing is no different. I'm pointing out the obvious...when people trash a product that's pretty nice....I mean really gang up and pounce on the person because they need to have this or that...it's over the top. Don't take it personally because it wasn't directed at a person. The industry as a whole is just insane at the top end. I see how my comment could be misconstrued...but it's not exactly what I meant.
  3. If you will take a quick look at what I posted...."trash" is a strong word my friend. I didn't accuse anyone of anything. I didn't slam anyone or any product. It was more so directed at industry and how they feed off the end user. You taking a personal shot at me is unwarranted and uncalled for.All I stated was that there's no way on God's green earth that a $750 reel as I mentioned is of such high quality that it's 3x better than something like a Team lite. I never said it was a bad reel, but the return tends to overshadow the investment at a certain level. So how bout you play nice and don't personally attack a forum member as I didn't direct any comment toward anyone myself.
  4. 1/8 oz White beetle spin. 4" Yum F2 Brown red flake with a 1/16 oz bullet pegged & Texas rigged.
  5. Considering changing my Username from Chelboed to Lew's-Fanboi. I totally agree. They are incredibly smooth and very strong. You can't tell me a $750 Megabass is 3x the reel that a Team Lite is in any facet of bass fishing. There's no way a $600 Steez EX is 2x better than a Team Pro. The kicker is that a Team Pro Z can be had all day long for $239 and a Team Lite for $186. Mix that with one of their new Custom rods at $139 or even a Team Lew's HM85...you can buy 2-3 complete rigs for the cost of just one fancy previously mentioned reel. And if you can't catch bass with this setup, then you need to switch to needlepoint because there are people out there happily making their living pimping these rigs. Lynne Reeves' focus on quality at a blue collar price...and devotion to the Veteran's programs (American Hero program) are refreshing in this "Gotta have the biggest, best, most expensive setup because I'm an American egomaniac" world we have created for ourselves.
  6. Not at all. I generally cast as far as I can parallel to the bank and work it back to me. Either way, I have to sort out so many boat specific answers... it's often useless. Things like....when the bite gets tough....and people say something like "find some under water structure and___." Well guess what genius....I don't have sonar. Or the suggestions of lures that easily get hung up on under water limbs and things...but hey it's not a big deal, just pull your boat over there and UN hang it....meanwhile, the bank fisherman just lost half his tackle...but what the Heck...I guess he found his under water structures now.
  7. Any time BUT winter. Winter here is frozen over. "Burning" a lipless in cold water won't get you far either. When the water is cold...(I'm not talking pansy Florida cold, hahaha) fish are sluggish, so I fish it slower, so I might yo yo it or fish it slow in the chill.
  8. Would be nice to see a bank fishing specific sub forum. Why? When you're drawing your bait from open water to the bank...it's really the opposite of boat fishing. Things like deep cranks dive into the mud and moss. Pitching/flipping jigs is much less doable than fishing something like a plastic parallel to the weed lines. Electronics are not applicable. There are probably a hundred reasons bank fishing is totally different than boat fishing. I mean sure....there are plenty of times when they cross over, but just as a friendly suggestion...it would be cool to see it here.
  9. I also picked up a Stanley Wedge Plus in golden Bream and a Booyah double willow in gold.
  10. Well in addition to my black Hurt double Colorado and my chartreuse single Colorado, I've acquired: War Eagle finesse spinner War Eagle Screaming Eagle double willow Strike King Banshee willow Colorado Going to start to delve in to these this year. I've caught fish on my single and double Colorado last year, so I have confidence in them.
  11. So...the other question was...what is your favorite spinnerbait? (And color)
  12. Hmmm...I really hadn't thought about the Weedlessness of a traditional. I might have to toss a couple in my rig and give them am honest shot. You know...I dread moss more than snags. Moss gets hung on anything though. Alright smarty pants peeps...give me your favorite traditional spinner votes in your 3 favorite colors for clear water, murky water, and what not. I'm assuming black, chartreuse, and xxxxx?
  13. You guys that are happy with 20-25yd casts make me think you're fishing from a boat. I have a couple places that I fish that the access point is about 50-60yd from the opposing weed line. I had a hard time hitting it last year, but I upgraded my gear and I can hit it fine now. It was frustrating because I could see them feeding but couldn't reach that far. When I'm fishing most of my bank fishing spots, I'm cool with 35-40yd...but occasionally I have to reach out. The real important issue becomes accuracy...as stated. I go out into the driveway and set a 5 gallon bucket at the end and try to hit the bucket. (That's 15-20yd) Then I cast across the street into this circle that was spray painted on the gutter. (About 25yd) Then I shoot caddy corner to the neighbors green rolling trash can. (About 35yd) Then I alternate...because if you can't be versatile enough to judge the distance on the first cast, it could cost you a fish or a lure. When the neighbors can isn't out, I use a weightless senko. When I want to reach out to his can, I use 1/4, 3/8, & 1/2 oz practice plugs.
  14. It's funny seeing how different mine vs the OP's lure choices are. Different regions etc... I rarely pitch or flip because I'm behind the weeds. I rarely use lipped cranks because I'm drawing them toward shallows and the end up banging the bottom and getting hung up or loaded with moss. I only use 1-2 colors of stick worm. 3 different colors Mepps (2 sizes). Lots of different colors of beetle spin because they're so versatile. I've caught anything from channel cast to bass to panfish to crappie on them....just vary the size/color. I love lipless cranks, slow sinking swimbaits, and floating cranks. When I bank fish...I'm always hyper sensitive to getting hung up because lures are too expensive to lose.
  15. Mine have ball bearings on them. They do not twist at all. I've only caught a few fish on traditional...but it's probably for lack of trying.
  16. My bank fishing rigs are: Team Lew's Pro on a Team Lew's HM85 Speed Stick 6-10"MH, 12# Stren mono Team Lew's LITE on a Tournament Sl speed stick 7' MH 12# Stren mono Team Lew's Red on a Tournament SL Speed Stick 6'6"M 12#Stren mono And my light setup right now is a BPS Crappie Maxx Mighty Lite on a BPS Micro LITE rod. 6' ML 4-6#Stren mono I also have a Falcon Bucoo Micro 6'10"H that I will throw a reel on with 14# Stren when I'm going to be throwing a lot more plastics or top frogs. I carry only one rod with me.
  17. My smaller black bag is a Dakine Shuttle and I use it for smaller fish. 3"Senko's, small hooks, etc...
  18. Wow...that's a lot to carry on your back. I go through phases of down sizing because I get tired of carrying so much. I try to fit my stuff in 2x Flambeau umbrella rig boxes. Use a Dakine Drafter pack that I bought for mountain biking. It had plenty of pockets for my terminal tackle. I actually have 2 different setups. One for bass fishing and one for crappie / panfish / little bass when the bass aren't biting. Here's my bags: My bass bag: Top pocket had my snaps, swivels, clippers, and line burner that I use to melt plastics back together so I can use them nearly forever: Inside main storage: Small pockets hold all my hooks, bullet weights, weight stoppers, etc... Crankbaits, swimbaits, top water: Wobble worms, tube spinners: Beetle spins: Mepps: Pocket in the back holds plastics: I still have plenty of pockets and could fit another umbrella box in it if I wanted, but I get tired of carrying all that Crap.
  19. For the sake of an image of the topic.
  20. I would think an inline may get hung up easier due to the treble. Could you just move up to a Mepps#5 to catch bigger fish?
  21. I'm a bank fisherman, so space is limited. In my experience, a standard spinnerbait takes 2-4x more space than inline in my backpack. Question #1: What are the benefits of a traditional spinnerbait over a Mepps #4 / #3? Mepps catch fish like crazy & stow small. Question #2: For versatility sake...a traditional spinnerbait looks a lot like a jig with a jig spinner attached. Would there be any benefit of having a traditional spinnerbait versus just using a jig with jig spinner...in essence giving you a Weedless spinnerbait + a jig to throw into cover? Bankfishing is all about versatility. Thanks guys/gals! Ed out.
  22. I stopped by a new pond on the way home from work today. Got out the 2" 1/4 oz White / black spots and caught 20x fish in 36 minutes. Nothing big, but tons of fun! Went home, mowed the yard, and came back with my light baitcast setup with 4# line and an 1/8 oz white/red dot and caught another 18x in 30 minutes.
  23. True, but for $150 or less, you get a Tournament Pro, Tournament Lite, or BB-1 Pro. Bye bye daiwa.
  24. The newest Lew's hot rod (Team Lite) truly is phenomenal for the $. I was using it last night and just kept getting blown away at how far I can rocket my crankbait with just the flick of my wrist. No muscle, no arm, just a little flick and they are in the next county. My Team Pro continues cast light baits incredibly well. My dad has a couple Super Duty's, Tournament Lite, and BB-1 Inshore. He's enamored with them all.
  25. Assuming the moss is low in the water... Wobble head with a dark purple Creme scoundrel. Floating Rat-L-Trap. Lucky Craft Fat Smasher 65 (they float) Gold Mepps #3 with the rod tip high. Assuming the moss is all the way to the surface... Weightless 5" Yum f2. Live Target fields mouse. Weedless frog.
