Water is ridiculously muddy. We've out the bass tackle up and gotten after the cats this past week. Gonna have to get way back in the sloughs and cuts to find clear water...and to be honest that still may not do it. If the storms will chill out for a couple days the end of this next week may be decent.

Thanks for all the replies fellas. Really wasn't tryin to get into a "which is better" but I did gain some good info so I appreciate it. My main question was of the endurance was so much better as to pay the extra money for it, especially knowing they aren't made anymore. But I'm pretty sure I've made my mind up that I'm going to go with another Hammer rod. Wanted to try something new, and I still may, but tempted to just go with the tired and true method.

Done a lot of research and just want to get some fresh opinions. My local tackle shop has a sale on duckett micro magic rods, $119. They also have a few of the discontinued powell endurance rods, but for the old price of $180. I'm looking to add a rod to my line up that I could flip jigs or T rig. I'm looking at a 7'2 or 7'3. I obviously want sensitivity but need a decent backbone also. Any thoughts, opinions, or even other options are welcome.

Was at my family lake helpin my dad do some work on our cabin in mid June 2011. We took a short break so I grabbed my pole and went down the levee. Dad asked me what I thought I was doin..."gonna go catch a big'n real quick" I yelled back. 3 casts later I felt a faint bump on the ol'monster red shad worm. When I set the hook there was no doubt about what just occurred. I'd hooked into one of my biggest fish ever. I went to hollerin as I fought her to the bank. My dad came down off the porch to snap a pic and we let her loose. At least that's my favorite big fish story. Have caught several bigger but none as exciting.

To me, deer hunting is like bottom fishing for catfish...sit there and wait for the joker to just come on by. While bass fishing is more the equivalent to matching wits with a Wiley ol' gobbler. Got figure out what he's doin and trick him into taking the bait. More one on one interaction and that's what I prefer. But I like to tangle with a big tabby on occassion and I spend a good deal of time after the elusive whitetail as well.

I don't remember not fishing. Have pics of me in a diaper with a cane pole...I'll be 30 this fall. Things I've learned: patience, confidence, stick-to-it-ivness, and a grand appreciation of the creation.

Wheeler does appear to be a top notch fisherman, but when I watch him I can't help but pull against him. Just something about his attitude and demeanor lend me to believe his early success has gone to his head. Or that may just be the way he is and may be the reason he is as successful as he is.

I bought a hammer fishing rod this year for this exact purpose...lightweight and sensitive to say the least. Would want to bump up to the heavy but I have absolutely loved this rod and I am a plastics/T rig fisherman 80% of the time.

Up here in the golden triangle but I fish all over. Love fishing the tenn-tom waterway. Also fish a lot in attala county, the delta, and down in the pine belt. The Rez has good fish and they can be caught all yr long but a boat would be a huge help. And don't forget about oxbows on the big river...may fish all day with nothing to show or could catch a boat full over 3 lbs depending on the day. That's what makes it fun!

I believe there is an attala bass club which would be rite by you. Unfortunately I don't have any more info but I'm sure if you ask around in that area you could find out. I know a lot of club tourneys take place within an hours drive of goodman.

T rigging is THE way to fish for me. And I prefer to go as slow as possible.

Favorite way to catch a fish is topwater of any kinda for obvious reasons. But my favorite way to fish based on results is T-riggin and flipping heavy cover.
