  1. I fish so much that a lot of my buddies were calling me a fishin freak. Well I like bass fishing the most so I went with bassinfreak2. I tried several combinations of Bass and Freak and this was the 1st one that was not taken. I chose my avitar because it's what I have pictured in my head and someone had already had the picture ready to use.
  2. Lane Thanks for the info. I am really looking forward to this! Is it march yet???
  3. I had planned on taking my own boat down but I have been hearing horror stories about the lake being so loaded with stumps that people damage thier boats all the time. Does the lake have boating lanes for higher speeds? I don't mind going at idle speeds in coves and pockets etc but that would take a looooong time moving around if all you could do was idle.
  4. I am in! Got the last room at Fishermans cove. Man I am looking forward to this! See ya all in March!
  5. Guys I just found this thread. I have always wanted to fish Lake Fork. I am going to call some buddies and see if we can make it. Would love to meet some BR members and have a chance at a 10 lb plus HAWG! If anyone has lodging info and wants to pm me I will try to call tomorrow and reserve a room if I can get some buddies to go along. Calling them right now. Bassinfreak
  6. Flechero You left your Wife at home!?!??? Man I wish i had the guts to pull that off! LOL!
  7. I have had the same problem. One of the guys who I have fished a team tournament circuit with this year has been late 5 out of six times and this was the morning of the tournaments! That is the only issues I have had with him. On everything else he is a heck of a fishing buddy. On the other hand I have another buddy who likes to go when I am practicing. He has never been late since we have started fishing together (20 plus yrs) and he is a great guy but if we dont start hauling in fish pretty quickly he gets bored and sits down and falls asleep quite often.
  8. Hey guys I am looking for skirts as well. Kinda having a hard time finding purple with chart tip. Any ideas on where I can find these? Thanks
  9. Part of the reason I quit fishing the BASS federation and weekend series was due in large part to the title sponsor (CITGO). Now that it looks like they have parted ways it might be a good time to look at them seriously again.
  10. Oh yeah! I agree! Have been fishing an hr or two daily untill the bite picks up. Once that happens I will hit the water sunrise to sunset!
  11. Yeah I usually only manage to get a fish here and there after the turnover and I am lucky if they are keepers. Covering a lot of water in a hurry makes sense. I will try that next time out and see what happens. Thanks Jim.
  12. Fall fishing is on it way or already here in some parts of the country and with it comes the turnover in many of our lakes. I always have a difficult time locating the fish shortly after this has happened. Anyone figure out how to deal with this?
  13. Without a doubt this site has helped my fishing improve. I have only been a member for a short time but the many ideas and techniques have improved my catch rate and enjoyment of bass fishing. Also I now know who the bait monkey is and that helps explain where all my hard earned $ go. It is easier for me to tell my wife that the monkey stopped by. Thanks for putting out such a great site and allowing me to be a member.
  14. Hey Murray Not to be rude or anything but isn't the purpose of a boat ramp to allow people to put boats in and out of the water? If they can't use the ramp since you are fishing then how do they get the boat in?????????
  15. Hey I have a family to feed. I could not simply toss a million bucks back into the water. I would definatly do everything in my power to keep it alive but once its in my boat its going back to the ramp with me. State record is not a big deal. A few pics, measurements, witnesses, etc and back in she goes.
  16. I just got another peeve last weekend. We were fishing a small river at the tailwaters of a riffle and doing pretty good drifting tubes for smallies when these two bozos on atvs came out of the woods behind us and just churned the water to a muddy froth! Well the fish quit biting and the jerks went on to the other side. Ugh!
  17. My partner and I have teamed up together this year in several team tournaments and have won a few and placed in the money close to half the time. Part of our success we feel is due to our noisy/quiet approach or vice versa. One of us would throw a spinnerbait or other noisy lure while the other would throw something quiet like senko or a tube etc. Sometimes we had to reverse the order depending on what the fish wanted but more often than not it was noisy/quiet that worked for us. I should point out that most of the water we fished was muddy to slightly stained this year. Perhaps the noisy bait helped in locating and the quiet bait drew the strike?
  18. Good Job! I have been following you on BR and other media and you are well on your way to being a pro yourself. Keep up the good work!
  19. One of my favorite tricks for the senko in the weeds is to go against conventional weightless rigging and T rig it with a 3/4 to 1 oz weight and pitch it into holes in the weeds. I reccomend braided line for this technique since you will need all the help you can pulling out even a decent sized fish and braid cuts thru the weeds very nicely. I used this technigue to finish 4th in a recent tournament. Good Luck

  21. WOW that is so cool! For a 14 yr old you are way ahead of most adults in the fishing world. Looking forward to seeing you put the hurt on KVD and IKE!
  22. IN FL GA AL TENN KY OH MI ILL MO MN Its not a State but I fish Lake of the woods ONTARIO as much as I can
  23. My peeve may not be a big deal to most people but I just can't stand it when someone (usually a non fisherman) mentions how so and so's grandfather used to catch tons of fish with a cane pole and a can of worms "way back in the day" and with all the technology and $ spent on my equipment they cannot understand why I don't catch every fish in the lake! It takes everything I got to smile and shrug my shoulders. Ugh!
