  1. I don't think they are interchangeable at all to be honest. I would probably compare a chatterbait more closely to a squarebill before I would a spinner bait. @Bluebasser86, thoughts?
  2. Welcome man!
  3. It was, without a doubt, one of the best trips I've had in years. I much needed road trip with the boys, especially on the heels of losing my Great Aunt that I was very close with. The funeral was actually day 1 of the tournament, and every member in my family told me I better not be there... that I needed to fish this. Weird how things work like that.
  4. Ive never even been to the other 3 lakes and I would gladly go fish them blind before making the Melvern trip right now. That lake hasn't been the same for 2 years due to crazy amounts of rain keeping it high and muddy. I think everyone has some high hopes for it this year with some (semi) stable weather hopefully this summer. Then again, for someone that hasn't fished it much or ever, Melvern may work out just fine. But for those of us that have seen her in it's prime, it's not worth the trip (which is exactly why wolf comes into play)
  5. You said the M word (melvern)... Can we all have a moment of silence to reflect....
  6. Yup, tossed the tokars and have been on the hack attack ever since
  7. Gator ain't ever been about that lol
  8. What kind of water are you fishing? Depth, structure, bottom composition etc. Football, casting or finesse is where I would start. Finesse will give you the general idea of things and works in most structure just fine.
  9. Booyah poppin pad crasher in cricket is my number 1 frog. You can walk it, pop it etc making it great in the slop or open water. Hook up ratio is great with them as well. Only issue I have is I end up destroying the plastic in the mouth "popping cup" on a really good day but @Bluebasser86 doesn't have that issue.
  10. The part that really irritated me was we had just been praising the guy for fishing a tournament with his 12 year old son... Then come to find out he was a DB and is apparently teaching his son to be one as well.
  11. What did that 20" smallie weigh?
  12. Yeah, I hated to miss it. Man... how many years has it been since a 7 wasn't needed to win? Last 5 years or so I think.
  13. Seconded. Or Atwoods brand at academy. A buddy of mine from Girard got 10th in a time slot. That's about it.
  14. Man, I was there Friday night and smoked the bass on bladed jigs. We were there Sunday too and got the kids on some crappie. I don't recall seeing any bass on beds but didn't look that hard either.
  15. That hurt so bad. Thanks for the read though, I needed something to motivate me back to work.
  16. Gotta love the cricket! Only difference between front and back of the boat now is leg length. Hate those dang things.
  17. It was an absolute blast. @Bluebasser86 and I needed a good show on a road trip, and finally made it happen. I don't expect the Rock to show off like that for me again, but it sure did make me appreciate what the lake has to offer.
  18. I'm gonna stay around home this weekend and see what happens with my aunt. Probably won't make it down to the farm until after T-Rock Sounds about par for the course. Thanks
  19. @Sprocket Those SEK lakes firing up yet? Was gonna take the boat down and hit bone 2 weeks ago but 40 mph winds made me stay at the farm and fish ponds
  20. gravois and bagnell, no questions asked.
  21. Was just curious. I've had great luck with mine for the year I've had them. Generally just wear a pair of thermals with jeans under them in extreme cold. I like the mobility of them also. I'll have to check out the Frabil ones too!
  22. What was wrong with the bibs?
  23. I have the soft shell set... wish I had gotten them for this price. They are great. Warm, wind and water tight.
