  1. has anyone tried one yet? they arent avalible here yet. i would like a reveiw of them if anyone has one.
  2. thanks for all the sugestions guys. i cant use a crank or spinnerbait because of the way the bridge is made. i have to climb down the pillar and stick my rod through the trusses. i can only cast about 12 feet. they seemed interested in the tubes ,but they only had a look then went back to where they were. im gonna try again on the weekend and hopfully post some pics of me holding one of them. thanks again.
  3. i found a spot under a train bridge on the weekend that holds a lot of largemouth. i could see 2 that were over 5lbs. they were HUGE. i tried everything in my box for over 1 hour and they wouldnt touch anything. i tried senkos, tubes, lizards, finess minnows, spider grubs. any ideas what i could use to geta bite? i cant throw any type of crankbait or spinnerbait as its right under the train bridge. the water is crystal clear. i realy want to hook one of those monsters and get a pic!
  4. yup its a smallie. she weighed 5lbs 1oz.caught it on a green-pumpkin hulla-grub.
  5. i wasnt realy targeting them but i found a school of them and they are quite fun to catch. they pull like a freight train.
  6. the hooks i am using are mustad 3/0. i didnt know there were diferent wire sizes until last night when i heard someone say heavy wire hook on tv.
  7. do i need heavy wire hooks for fish over 8lbs or am i just setting the hook too hard? i caught a bunch of freshwater drum on the week end and i kept straightening my hooks . is my drag just too tight ?
  8. it sounds like they dont have the whole bait in their mouths when your trying to set the hook. i would try and down-size the bait to make sure they bite the hook and not just half of the bait. also if you can see the bait that means there isnt a whole lot of weeds so you could leave the point of your hook exposed. i hope this helps . let us know if you get it figured out.
  9. i can honestly say that with anything other than a buzzbait its right around 90%. with the buzzbait however its about 25%. i really need to put a stinger on them.
  10. i started my season as soon as the ice was gone at the end of march and have caught over 120. the last 3 weeks have realy slowed down to where im luckey if i can catch 2 in 1 day.
  11. i have never caught anything on a senko either , but i have only had them for a few weeks and havent had them in the water a lot. grubs and tubes have been working well and i didnt want to change whats woking.
  12. i have also been looking for something like that for a while. i hope someone has a link for this!
  13. as you might have seen on the news ,northern new england has gotten a lot of rain and flooding lately. i am just north of the border on the richelieu river which is fed by lake champlain. all the runoff from the last couple of weeks has turned the water from very clear to extremely dirty. what would some of you guys use in a situation like this? lately ive been catching a lot of smallies on hulla grubs and tubes , but the last few days i havent caught anything. stuart
