i cant wait for those temps here. it was 46 when i went out and only lasted 15 minutes lol

i was able to find time to make a few casts last saturday and the wind was brutal !. i didnt get any bites and i didnt stay very long , but man was it nice to be fishing this early in the year. looks like its gonna be warm again this weekend......

what temp is the lowest worth fishing in? we have had an extremely mild winter and all the ice is gone already. the water temright now is 38*.

i caught it late april 2 years ago on a green pumpkin spidergub & 1/4oz football head jig. it weighed 5 lbs 1oz. i froze my nards off that day , but the bite was awsome.

what bait would work well in cold water? i went out on Sunday and the water was 42* . i couldn't find any fish at all. this is a river with moderate current. i tried pretty much everything in my box but couldn't get anything. this is the first time I've fished this late in the year. thanks

it weighed 5lbs 1oz. not my biggest, but its the best picture water temp up here is right at 58*. i tried a spook for about an hour last night but the water is still muddy from a storm earlier this week and they werent hitting for anyone.

when do smallies start hitting top water lures? is it water temp related? ive only ever tried late in the summer when there are too many weeds to fish anything else.

thanks for the replies fellas. i went out and tried for 2 days and got nuthin. last night i could almost reach the mudline. should be a lot clearer by tonight and maybe i can cast farther than the mudline.

is it worth fishing after a heavy rain when the water goes from clear to muddy? or does it turn them off till it clears up again? i got the day off work but the water is pretty muddy after yesterdays storm.

what bait would you guys suggest for the first time out? the ice has been gone from the river for almost a week. i was thinking a finesse bait like a spider grub but want some other opinions.

i saw a pinnacle baitcaster on sale at gander mountain for 49$. i cant remember exactly what model it was , but it had 9 bearings. looked nice. anyone tried one of these yet? i was thinking it would make a good flippilng reel.

i was told to use mono for a spook because i would loose less fish than with braid. which mono should i use? i tried trylene xl 10# but it doesnt work good at all . it felt like fishing with a rubber band. im using a revo and a fenwick hmg 6-6 med/heavy. thanks for any suggestions.

the reels are running very well as is, i was just wondering if there would be an improvement as the bearing company states. they claim increased casting distance, but i dont see how. thanks for the replies

would i easily notice a difference or is it very minimal? i have 2 revo's and was considering switching out the bearings. has anyone tried it on a revo yet?

when should i use braid and when shoul i use mono? i know i need braid on my frog rod for fishing thick weeds, but what about my 3 other baitcasters and my 4 spinning rods?

what hook should i use for a drop-shot rig? i have never tried one yet.

how do you properly adjust trim once the boat is up out of the water? i see a lot of guys have a huge rooster tail coming out the back. is there any benefit to this or does it just look cool?

if it ever stops snowing ill get out and try it. the only difference i can see in the s and sx models is the brake system. s has a 6 pin brake and all the others are magnetic.
