Bank Fishing In North Atlanta Area?
Most of the reservoirs and water systems in and around Atlanta are stalked with catfish. I usually have my best days at Lake Westpoint down in Lagrange off 85 south on the Ga/Ala Line. Lake Martin in Ala has a great catfish bite. Everywhere else that I had a great catfish bite were private ponds in Atl. I know this is specifically for Atlanta but I rarely catfish in Atl. I know there is Lucky,s Catfish pond in Clayton County. There are big catfish and bass in there. I saw a huge bass bedding off the bank that was at least 6 pounds a couple years back. My dad used to take me there when I was a kid and I'm an 85 baby so this pond has been there for a long while. It used to be called Luckys Lake I believe. Its located where Hwy 54 meets Tara Blvd (19/41) about 15/20 before you get to Atlanta Motor Speedway. Take 19/41 in Jonesboro towards the Atl Motor speedway and turn right on 54 (quicktrip) and its the first left. There is a sign and there is a daily fee. The Chattahoochee has big catfish in it if you can get out on a boat and the right equipment. Im by no definition a true catfisherman but ive def caughta bunch on my day. Dont know a lot about stink bait or chicken liver but Ive caught catfish in Horton, Kedron, and Lake Peachtree (which is half drained for repairs now). These are all in my hometown Fayette County. But these were years ago before I leared to bass fish. I literally used to throw two or three lines (if its private) and drop a carolina rig with rod holders, bells and sleep all day on my off days. Id get catfish, carp, plenty of blue gill, crappie, and bass just enjoying getting fresh air and sleep from 5am til about 2pm. They would hit big red, pink worms and good old night crawlers cut in half on a small tru turn hook. Sweetwater Creek Reservoir has catfish. Same technique above on the bank near the bait shop, bridge, and even the dock and you can catch them. Years ago as well but there is still fish in there despite a lot of anglers having problems getting a limit of bass there. Daily fee and you can rent jon boat. I know Ive said this before, but just like most of the city resevoirs, the city parks are generally stocked with catfish. But youll never know what a pond/lake has unless you go drop a line and get it wet! Good luck and God bless

Bank Fishing In North Atlanta Area?
If you google piedmont park bass fishing and go to images, there is a pic of bass caught there. Might be worth a try considering little pressure. I fished it in 07 b4 I became a bass fisherman and caught some bluegill. It's a stalked pond in the middle of downtown. Its just a little hike from the parking deck or parking on the road. Youd prob get some strange looks walking with a pole in Midtown but I love the idea to fish in the city. I'm also interested to see if there are big fish in there or a bunch of skinny ones bc that pond has had the pan fish die in big numbers twice that I remember but that was a good while ago.

Bank Fishing In North Atlanta Area?
1. Dunwoody is a busy area but if Im up that way and some time on my hand, Bull Sluice Lake is pretty to drop some lines. There is a dock and some bank access. 2.At the same location, Morgan Falls Dam where the Ga power plant and Dog park location a little down the path of the lake has more bank action along with a metal bleacher structure that is safe to fish from. You have to understand that this is below the dam so its moving water. So research techniques for this. But there are catfish, shoal bass, striper, and trout right there. A couple you tube videos up for that location too. 3. Anywhere on the Chattahoochee River. I know someone mentioned that the river dirty and not sure if you were talking about the Hootch. But it is not bad at all. Lots and lots of places to fish that are recommended. Look for the trails that go up them and go have a blast. Lots of bank access, I go fish in the Hootch in some places. Fish from a tube or a kayak. Now is prime for fishing. Its always 60 degrees even if it 100 degrees that day. Lots of shade. Fish the spots where there is less/no current where they can ambush prey. Just always look for snakes and ant piles like you should when you bank fish ANYWHERE. Also, shoal bass is the cool reason to fish the Hootch. They are sorta only in our river system and into Flint River. Native to us, you should catch this fish at least once in your life. They don't get that big, but they fight. They are even in the middle current when feeding. 4. Google your city and bass fishing and you never know what site, blog or video may come from it. Go to maps and look for ponds. You best luck is the parks that have a pond. Unlike the other suggestions, I've never fish Murphy Candler Park, but it looks promising just from the map. Id scout it if you live by there and ask anyone fishing if there are bass in there. I scout every city I drive through from Newnan through Atl up to Suwanee. Keep a pole in car Hope this helps. Let us know where you have any luck

South Atlanta Bass Fishing Lakes And Pond Locations
Where on Mcintosh is pretty good? I heard that lake's development has been pretty good since Line Creek feeds into it. I was out on kedron the other day and had a blast. Could not find anything really that they didn't like. The sizes in that were the usual pound or less but the ones that hit the jig on lay downs were all 2 lbs. Kedron is usually productive for good numbers but not size

South Atlanta Bass Fishing Lakes And Pond Locations
What city limits are you in? Bank or boat? Clarence Duncan park had been nice from the bank. Early morning or late night, I don't think Ive thrown anything that didn't work except a spinner bait, but im still working on confidence on that. They are usually stacked up in a couple spots but nothing really of size. Horton is always fun from a boat. A lot of bank access too. Beat the bank or use a depth finder and get on deep offshore structure or find the grass lines. Lots of private ponds too if you can get the owner's permission. Where do you guys like to fish?

Atlanta Area Reports?
Sweetwater has always been a place I hear stories about catching near the bridge and siren the creek but I personally have never had success for bass there. My local ponds in South Atl are spawning and have hit the live target poppers early morning or late evening. Light texas rig baby brush hog fished very slow have been working. Lastly the senko-matic works of nothing else works in my ponds and the reservoirs. If its muddy, my shakey head has been good in black. Im not have much luck with crank baits though unless its a pickeral in both small ponds and larger reservoirs. Its usually my go to bait especially for searching but didnt matter the retrieve, its slow on my moving baits. Anyone else having issues with crank baits?

Atlanta Area Reports?
I usually start hitting the hootch when its consistently in the 90s everday. Early to mid June to July through August is the time to go for the shoal bass and stripers. Ive had most luck on bright colored square bills and swim baits. A white fluke on a scrounger jig will work too. I'm really going to try to catch them on the DOA airhead this summer and I get a chance.

Ever had any luck going to sweetwater? That should be near you too. You can rent jon boats too but paddling is a hassle to get all over that lake

Bank Fishing In Georgia
Anyone fish Piedmont Park downtown, Atl, Ga? Its been a while since ive gone but its a nice way to bank fish in the middle of the city. It kinda reminds me of those episodes of Lunkerville when Mike D is walking around central park, NY with his fishing gear

Bank Fishing In Georgia
Anybody had any luck lately at Vindivers like off camp creek? Seen a lot of crappie in there lately. I want take a kayak out there to check out the structure. The hootch is good too for shoal bass and striper but you may want to wait until May or later for the air temp to warm up

Lowrance Elite 4X Hdi Transducer Question
I know there are stump fields, brush piles and fallen trees all over the lake. I see it on my depth finder, just not on the down scan. What do yoy mean install correctly? Ive put the transducer on a coupke different ways and even mounted it twodifferent ways. All is see is black with little grass herw and there all over every lake i go to and i know that's not correct.

Lowrance Elite 4X Hdi Transducer Question
Bought this on ebay and everything works great but the down scan. I see nothing even close to the demo mode on several lakes. Maybe so grass here and there but usually nothing. Am i positioning the transducer incorrectly? Ive played with the unit and the htz and also went back to the factory default settings and can't figure out the issue. One person said it doesn't work that will in shallow lakes but my lake is only 30ft at the most. Another person said angle my transducer diff but it looks the same. Help!

Accidental Catches
Not really accidental but.... When I was a teenager, I was fishing with my best friend and his dad in a private lake in Palmetto, Ga. Bobbers and big reds for whatevers biting! In between bites, Id leave my rod on the ground waiting for my bobber to get a tug and so i can talk with my hands the my friends dad yells from afar, "youve got a bite James!" By the time I looked at the water then looked down at the ground, the rod darted in the water too fast for me to react. His dad walks down and says "which way did it go?" He ties on a treble hook and throws it in the direction to drag the bottom. Three cast later, he has my line....then he has my walmart shakespere.....then a giant catfish! I love telling this story bc it was b4 i started bass fishing. I never understood as a kid how artificial bait could catch fish or even the logic of bass fishing. In 2013, I busted up my knee pretty bad and has to quit sports. 2014 was my first year of learning to bass fish. At 29, I've found a new love to compensate for what I've had to give up and the "catfish taking my reel" story is always one that I tell the guys who help me learn new techniques and wanted to share with my BassResource fam

Jon Boat Repair
Would anyone know of anyone that can restore an old jon boat. Ive googled it for my area (South Atlanta) and Ive really only been able to find someone about 4 hours away in Valdosta, Ga. Doesnt necessarily have to be a shop but anyone in general that help be get this boat in shape to catch some bass. Right now, I notice a small in a couple places. Even after 5 hours of fishing (which is mostly what I do), there less than a gallon worth of water thats come on my jon boat from somewhere on the back and the transom. I am noticing a little cracking where you put the plug now too so now I just want to get it in shape for some fishing before anything gets worse and I find out on the water. James.Brown1758@gmail.com is the email if you have a contact that I would definitely appreciate. I even consider decking it and make a bass boat transition if it isnt super costly. Thanks again, God bless!

South Atlanta Bass Fishing Lakes And Pond Locations
I'm new to bass resource! The most recent post about bass fishing in the area of south Atlanta was in 2012 when I searched. I was curious if there were any members that have any news on local ponds, lakes and even rivers. I live in the Fayetteville and Fairburn area and do a good bit of fishing. Been fishing all my life but have just taken up bass fishing this past year and am enjoying it! Thank you all for all your post and a huge shoutout to Glenn because his videos have helped me out the most in my transition to bass fishing. If anyone wants to fish ponds or lakes in and around south Atlanta, definitely let me know I would love to trade stories and locations with members, I've fished from Lake Peachtree, Kedron, Horton, McIntosh in Fayette County to Sweetwater creek, Glen Emerald and Piedmont park in Atlanta to some hidden lakes in South Fulton and Clayton. Anyone know of a couple of ponds in Fayette County? I bank fish 2-3 days a week and fish on a boat maybe 3 times a month
