Bank Fishing In North Atlanta Area?
Only up the river under Morgan falls dam. There are striper over there and Ive caught trout over there by mistake...lol. You can walk down the river there too but there are way more spots at Whitewater creek. Its def different from a pond but it a nice change up. Yesterday I fished Piedmont park's Lake Cara Meer for about 90 minutes. I was waiting for traffic to die down and wanted to try my new gl3. I had two bites but nothing landed. Def fish in there but I wish I had my full tackle box so I could fish a little deeper, especially near the fountains. But I just fished the docks and some of the bank with a black senko since the clarity was so murky green

Bank Fishing In North Atlanta Area?
I fished from 6pm until 9pm with two other guys. The water was cool like always (60s) but a little higher. It was a lot clearer than last time too despite the recent rain. Lots of people on kayaks and tubes too. I fished with a chartreuse spinnerbait with a medium heavy spin rod and had a couple bites then landed one within the first 20 minutes. Less than a pound but the shaol bass fight a little more than twice their weight. One of my buddies was fishing a green pumpkin jig and had the same result within his first 15 mins. Couple bites and one landed less than a pound. And my other buddy didnt land any but it was his first time. Its not an easy river to fish with all the lay downs and rocks. We lost a lot of baits if you let them roll on the bottom. We swam most of out baits. The last 90 minutes I went for striper but didnt get anything. I fished a DOA air head and a super fluke on a scrounger jig head. It was fun and the weather was nice to get out. Not a drop a rain even though where I live in South Atlanta, it was bad thunderstorms that you couldnt see a couple feet in front of you. All around fun time but last year, we were used to getting an average of 3 each

Do You Guys Ever Need A Break From Fishing?
I wish I had more time to fish...lol. fishing is my me time away from the wife and kids. I keep a combo in the car in case I find an opportunity to fish. But I would prob need a break if I fished for 365 days straight for maybe a day....lol

Crank Bait Goes Light
You should definately feel this bait as its running back to you during the retrieve. Papajoe is right though, it may need a tune. Tie directly to the crank bait until you get hang of it. It just comes with experience. I would throw right in front of you a couple yards and see if runs straight or needs to be tuned. See if it wiggles or wobbles. "Become" the bait for a sec ago you know what you are working with and know that's what the retrieve will feel like. If you still get the dead zero resistance feeling, take a peek before you lift it or the water. See if its laying to the side, or a hook is caught on the line. A tune sounds most likely though. I like to throw as far as i can and reel fast to get to depth then crank pretty slow on anything deeper. Rattle traps are my fav and I like the yoyo and the bass love it more! Hope it works out and that you have a new fav go to technique

Bank Fishing In North Atlanta Area?
If anyone wants to join, my friend and I are going to walk the Whitewater creek Trails and fish up and down the Chattahoochee River on Thursday 7/30/15 from maybe 5 or 6pm until nightfall (9pm). Going for Shoal bass and maybe even striper if we can find any. PM me if you are interested and Ill give you my contact info. Where: Whitewater Creek Trails. Im sorry, but there really isnt an address for it but if you google it, your map take you right there to the parking lot. A reference point is that when you get on 75 south from 285 and cross the river on the interstate bridge, you're looking down at where we will be meeting to fish. From 75 exit Mt. Paran Rd or From 285 you can exit Cumberland Blvd and take the back roads pending traffic. What to bring: I go anywhere from on the bank to walking in the middle of the hootch where its shallow. So bring anything that can get wet. Gear: Im bringing a couple MH and H spinning rods. Im gonna bring anywhere from a couple of swim baits, flukes on scrounger jig heads, crank baits, spinnerbaits and jigs. Ive had friends catch on a button zebco walmart reel just fine so just bring anything thatll cast and can be fished in moving water.

South Atlanta Georgia Intro
Greetings ! My name is James Brown and I've been on here since last year but am just getting to an introduction! I am originally from Atlanta, Ga and now I reside in south Atlanta near Fairburn/Fayetteville area. Im in retail sales and married with 2 kids. I grew up fishing in small ponds with my dad for whatever would bite a walmart zebco or bamboo fishing pole with a live worm on it and bobber on it. About 10 years ago in college, I always would take a couple of days out the month to throw a Carolina rig and night crawler on it and in the summer I would go a couple times a week. In 2013, I discovered bass fishing! I was playing flag football and tore and ACL and my meniscus. I went from being active every day to not being able to do much until the surgery and after my ACL reconstruction and meniscus repair. On youtube, I watched a video of KVD in the water tank throw a crank bait and the fish followed it and I knew I had to try a bait that wasnt alive. I had a new friend from Fantasy Football invite me to catch shoal bass and I was hooked ever since throwing any type of crank bait. I am definitely still a novice at this but I wanted to really thank you guys for all the forum topics, articles and suggestions. Ive really come a long way from just reading a little everyday. Ive gotten into baitcasting gear, owning my own jon boat to get off the bank when I get a free day and even getting bit by the bait monkey every here and there. Thank you all again and God bless
