  7. I agree with Raul and Felix. Lighter is better. I use a soft tackle bag, slung over my shoulder rarely put it down. Two planos max containing a little of everything plus soft plastics. No need to haul all my crap, I know what works and take just that. Constantly on the move...Plus STEALTH is key, hauling a bunch of stuff makes your footsteps heavier and constantly setting your bag down makes too much of a disturbance.
  8. Paca and baby paca craws green pumpkin/red flake. 1/4-1/2oz wt. Slow drag and pause to keep it on the bottom. The head and claws float and stay elevated up like a defensive posture. I used it in place of t-rig for craws last year. Ill add a skirt to it if I want something different than a jig. Slow rolling it so it barely ticks the bottom works too
  9. You can really c-rig any soft plastic. Part of the fun is experimenting with different stuff. The fish will let you know what works...My buddy caught one with a c-rigged rapala x-rap.
  10. I usually use 1/2oz egg sinker (if rocky bottom, bullet if vegetation), drop down to 3/8oz for smaller plastics & shallower water. Used to use a barrel swivel but recently switched to a Carolina Keeper, it makes adjusting leader length so much easier. Starting leader is about 24", then I'll adjust it depending on what's catching fish. 15lb Yozuri hybrid on a 6'6MH/XF baitcaster. Brush hogs, baby brush hogs, zoom mag II worms, super flukes, swimming flukes, sweet beavers. Usually green pumpkin/watermelon variation. Slow sideways drag (1-3 feet at a time) to keep it on the bottom; slow upwards drag to raise it off the bottom, pause, and repeat. Hard side sweeping hook set.

  13. I use Gamakatsu superline weighted springlock in 3/0 & 4/0 1/16oz. I'll rig paca craws, brush hogs, super flukes, and beaver baits with them.
  14. They work great jika rigged.
  15. I have a 6'6" MH/XF Vendetta. It might be stiffer than others but i like it. Its pretty sensitive. It paired with a Lews speed spool 6:1 with yozuri 15lb. Can toss a 1/4 oz t-rig no problem. I agree about getting a spinning outfit for weightless/finesse
  16. Slow sideways drag 1-3 feet, pause, repeat. Remember, the hookset is a sideways sweep as well.
  17. Caught more fish with baby brush hog, especially on pressured water. I like regular hog in deeper water or late afternoon/evening. Both C-rigged. Caught the fish in my avatar on green pumpkin baby hog c-rigged.
  18. Hello, folks. Thought I'd join after lurking for a while. Learned a lot from reading the forums on this site, hopefully I can contribute some useful info to others. I grew up fishing for trout, largemouth bass, and American shad in California. Been living in Vegas for seven years, so I mostly fish for bass as the weather is a bit warmer. I fish from shore at my local public pond and from a float tube on Lake Mead a lot. My current go to technique this year is the Carolina rig, but I do enjoy topwater blowups at night as well. Last year's were spinnerbaits and a Jika rigged paca craw. Thought I'd introduce myself and thanks for having me.
