Balsa Cranks
I'm definitley going to work with Whittler, as we have already talked through PM. There seems to be quite a bit of companies out there that have a good product. Does anyone know anything about Mimic Lures? I have a few of their cranks and I love them, anyone else try them at all? Looking at carolina chip, I was wondering why some of their cranks sport a 40$+ pricetag when most customs run about 15-25.........what seperates their product from the others. They do look great just checking out their site. This spring I think I will do alot of experimenting until I find a company who I really like, if it is a custom maker, than so be it.......if a little extra dough for a handmade gets me up a couple tournament spots.....then its all worth it in my book. Please PM me and I can email it to you with all of pictures and aticles attached. Grades affecting sponsorship?
3.5 at least for Airrus. The way I see it is that a sponsor is looking for a well-rounded individual, and a lopsided report card might not represent that ideal symmetry. KW- Not wanting to insult or anything, but just in that single post, there were a few grammar and spelling errors. If you have erroneous writing, then how will a sponsor think that you can speak well? What if that company is browsing this very post? Even your quote underneath your avatar has irregular and incomplete wording. Please don't take this as negative vibes, I wan't you to find that company, but changing a few things might help your cause! ben edit: Remember...JASS RULES

Balsa Cranks
Hey guys, I am in the hunt for a good wooden crankbait company. I am starting to get interested in the custom handmade balsa cranks, I like the attention to detail in construction and paint jobs. I have heard great things about On the Line crankbaits and Mimic Lures, but I'm sure there are plenty of other optoins that fit into this category. Any suggestions? Also, I recently bought a few Lee Sisson cranks, does anybody use them? Is there anything that seperated them from the balsa bagley crankbaits?? Thanks fellas, Ben forgot to mention: Stringjam has already told me an amazing amount of info on this topic, but I wanted to get some other opinions and other experiences also...... if anyone needs any crankbait advice....talk to stringjam- he was a great help!!!!!!! God Bless

Prayers Please, tragic student death
he just had surgery to remove cranial pressure, and now the doctors are looking into the brain tumor. At this time I have no idea what his status is, but his sister says that he is able to laugh and speak and eat, which is huge. His dad was was my basketball team coach for 3 years and Zach was my powerforward, and I've been his friend since 5th grade. All of your thoughts help. Also, Ryan's funeral was yesterday, his family needs all the support they can get now that they try to return to a normal life. Ryan was a great kid and a great classmate. He will be missed dearly. Thanks guys ben

Prayers Please, tragic student death
hey guys, I have been down in alabama for the JWC competition, and will be here until the classic. After the JWC I headed up towards Guntersville to fish yesterday and today and tomorrow. As I came off the water after a great day at Guntersville, I got a phone call from my mom back in MD that completely ruined the day. No one wants to hear this news: She told me that one of my classmates died after hitting a tree and falling into a rivene while sledding on Monday. He was a Junior at my high school, and one of the nicest kids in the grade. last year, we were in alot of the same classes together, and this year i am in his twin sister's Latin class. Quote from the local paper: "Ryan Conley, 16, was sledding with his sister on their family's farm in Lisbon just before noon when he crashed into a tree, a Howard County fire spokesman said. Paramedics had to use ropes and pulleys attached to trees to reach the youth because the hill, estimated to be 1,000 feet long and a 40-degree incline, was covered in ice, the spokesman said. The Glenelg High School 11th-grader was flown to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead - the second person in the Baltimore region since Friday to die in a sledding accident. "Yesterday, (he) was riding on a plastic, saucer-like sled at his family's home in the 16000 block of Camalo Drive, in a hilly, rural part of western Howard County, said Bill Mould, a spokesman for the county fire and rescue services. The teenager crashed into a tree at 11:54 a.m. A sibling, who neighbors said was his twin sister, called 911. Firefighters were unable to reach the youth initially because the hill was so steep and slippery, and they had to tie ropes and pulleys to trees, Mould said." I am still sick to my stomach, please offer your prayers to comfort his family, i can remember when he offered me to fish in his farm pond, he was always a nice kid, and kids didnt treat him the way he treated others. RIP Ryan God Bless

Yeah, she had spinnerbait blade earrings.........I considered asking her to marry me right then and there : Cady was the one who fished, and Delainey was there watching. Anyway, yeah...Ike was hanging with us for quite some time......i even untangled his line when he got it tangled with one of the other kids. it was such an amazing experience.....too bad I decided to only hook up with one fish....... BTW: I fished Guntersville today and had a 21 pound bag.........................why couldnt i do that on Logan Martin? : ben ps: ike put up about 20 or so $$$ probably 150$ was bet by the end of the night by various people......it was a whole lot of fun

I'll be there every day.......probably working the show at a couple stands, then maybe following a pro during one of the classic days or fishing logan martin again with a local or two. i'll be wearing my Airrus Fishing Jersey or a Blue/Black fishing jersey with a black/ red hat. I should be wearing a red wwjd wristband on my left hand as usual. If any of you see me, please say hi! Ben

hey guys........Thank you sooo much for your support. It really does mean alot, and is helping the whole self-esteem. I'm going to try my best at getting into the next year's competition....because it was the most amazing experience of my life LBH- the camera is working great....and its not a half bad phone either......I think the RI competetor for the younger division caught a nice 3 pounder the official day....Cady was her name? And there was some other girl from RI....last name Broggi (do you know her?)........and she was there just for fun- not competing.... and I asked her if she knew someone with a red jon boat that said "low Budget hookers" on it.....and the gave me one of these :-? haha she was pretty cool though....but apparently had no idea who you were.........maybe i should have told her your name........ anyway it was a great time down there, and i was able to meet a couple BR members at the weigh-in. The most amazing part was just being soo close and hanging out with the pro's.......last night KVD and MARK ZONA both asked me how my sandwhich was while i was eating at the restaraunt !!! later that night a couple of the guys decided to start a casting competition in the middle of the lobby, starting off with about 3 of us.............by the end of the night.....there were 10 rods trying to cast into the same coffee mug..... at least 30 observers................Iaconelli and Skeet Reese were casting with us for well over an hour i will include a fully detailed reprt with pics and whatnot within the next week.....haha school comes first though.... ben ps: I had John Crews as my pro...he is a great guy

hey man, stay focused in high school and dont get caught up in all of the stpid things that most kids like to try out. Go fishing on the weekends instead of going to that "killer party"......you might just catch that 20+ lb bag! How much is that boat running you $$$, are you buying it- or are the parents kicking in some dough?? shoot me an email at b23ball23fisher@hotmail.com ....its more convenient then searching internet forums... ben

hey guys! I'm sitting in the lobby on my dad's laptop......KVD, Ike, and Ish walked by......followed by Zell Rowland and Gary Klein........no one following or taking pictures.......I gauruntee this is the only place in the world where this can happen...its incredible Anyway, the fishing was awful....the cold front really killed things this whole week. With temps never getting out of the LOW 40's............about 11 degrees friday mourning. well....i'll give a full report later, but I ended up placing 2nd overall in the mid-atlantic region.....just 2 ounces away from being reigonal champion. Overall, it took 7lbs 8 ounces to win.........maybe it was 7-7......TONS of kids zeroed both days, so I feel blessed that I caught one each day. i dont know exactly what i finished overall, but probably 15-20th.....not sure though. It is amazing, even though I am very dissapointed in my performance, this is one of the cooooolest things I have ever done 8-) ben god bless

Nope, I go to Public High School, and will only miss 5 days because there is no school monday, and I am leaving late thursday. Also, the trip is excused because it has direct correlation to my Independent Research Project, which is about what it takes to become a Professional Fisherman, mainly focusing on the business/ marketing aspect of it. I will also keep up with my schoolwork while I am down there. Ben
