  1. I watched a you tube vid this morning on making a canoe cart, next week is vacation, making a cart is on the agenda. I have Thr different sets of wheels to experiment with
  2. Spent a few hours on Horseshoe Pond in Merrimack this morning, got 6 bass on spinnerbaits and beetle spins. Had a very large boil under a Super Frog. No fish caught were bigger than 1.5 pounds. I was able to mark a lot of fish on the depth finder, they seemed to be bottom hugging
  3. I'm 53, started fishing when I was about 6-7. I fished hard in the 70s and 80s, worked at a tackle store for 7 years. Then in 91, the flame went out. I stopped fishing, just went a few times in the years since. Then this spring, something lit that pilot light and I got a canoe, dusted off the 25 year old gear and have had a great time fishing. What I learned since my return is that it is great to be back, even though I put a few lures in trees, dropped a rod\reel overboard, got the canoe stuck on a log and this old back hurts after a few hours sitting in a canoe, I'm d**n glad to be on the water
  4. Going to Newfound Lake tomorrow. First time there Sunday, not sure yet. Might try Massabesic or stay local in Merrimack, Horseshoe perhaps. These threads, especially Nashua Nev, has given me a lot of options to try within a few miles of my house. I'm also going to build a cart to tote my canoe around with. Found some kids bicycle wheels at the dump that will work pretty good Good luck to all who are going
  5. Thanks for all the info Nashua Nev, I really appreciate it. I've been away from fishing for quite a while and since moving to NH 12 years ago, I have never fished this area. I used to live in Cape Cod and fished just about every day, salt and freshwater. But back into it and having a blast Naticook reminds me of a place I fished at a lot in Mass. Lots of little clumps of land poking out of the water but are eroded under the surface. That's where I think some big fish may be. I used to use the Langer Flying Lure to work under the clumps of stuff on top. The lure would swim away from the cast and would get in those places. I know I have some of those lures somewhere. I'll get them out and try on Sunday. Saturday morning, I'm headed to Newfound, I've never been there but heard that it's got a reputation for big fish. A cousin has a place there and can put us on some fish This forum is awesome, I will try to contribute with good info and pictures and stories
  6. Gabriel, I just hit my NH license too and I looked at that tight over and over and I believe Nashua Nev is right, live bait rig
  7. Thanks everyone
  8. Thanks Minnow, I work in Concord so I will try some shore fishing on the way home. I have a canoe and plan to use that on weekends. Can you put a canoe in at the picnic area just after the rotary? I am heading to Newfound Lake Saturday. I've never been, psyched to go there and slam small mouths
  9. Nashua river has great access off of Tilton st which is off of Broad st , it also has access at Mines Falls which is also Stellos Stadium. In front of the Nashua river you will find Mill pond. Dont ignore it. The weeds are a pain , but it holds some nice fish. easy access too Thanks for all the tips. I walked Mine Falls with the my dogs and thought that there should be some good fish in there I live at the Merrimack end of Baboosic LakRd, I don't know of public access. I was told to park at the Amherst Beach before the residents came for the day. I will try it out during vacation I went to the Reeds Ferry boat ramp on the Merrimack River on Saturday, to have a look at it. The river was moving very quickly of course, I;m assuming it will slow down as the summer drought happens. Tough to paddle a canoe when the river is racing
  10. Hi, new to the group. Having a great time reading through this thread. I fished Naticook Lake on Sunday, caught quite a few small bass up to 1.5 pomds on spinner baits and lipless cranks. Heading to Newfound on Saturday. First time there but a cousin has a place there and can show me the ropes. I'm also going to give Massabesic a shot soon. Also scouting the Nashua River, does that have canoe access?
  11. Hello all. I'm a new member from Merrimack NH. I've come back to fishing after a long absense and I'm having a blast. I bought an old beat up aluminum canoe, dusted off all the equipment I bought in the 80's (top of the line stuff for the time) and I've been fishing in Merrimack, Naticoomk Lake and Horseshoe Pond and starting to scout out new locations. I'm originally from Mass so looking for a little guidance in southern/central NH
