Minnesota Fishing Reports - 2018
Agree with Jmhalvo... tough when you get up North. I put in Anoka and go up river to the first two islands on the Mississippi. Along back side of this islands is good. But I have a jack plate and can hike it up pretty far (see link below). I only draft about 14-18 inches and there’s some low spots along the way... but worth it.

Air temps in the low 90’s this weekend ought to have some effect on things!

Minnesota Fishing Reports - 2018
Talked to a high-level tournament fisherman today - Metro area: 3 to 6 fow water, reaction baits, rattle traps, wiggle warts, chatterbaits, jerk baits. Next week - big girls on Senkos, plastics on beds.

Small lake in West metro yesterday was 62 degrees. Anyone seen temps on the Mississippi in the north metro? I might head there Fri or Sat.

Looking for a med. Lt. Casting rod.
I had the carbonlite ML and prefer the MajorCraft Don Iovino Signature Series 6’-10.” Says it’s a medium but those that have it would classify as an ML. Much prefer it over the Carbonlite. St. Croix has a 6-10 ML in the LTB and someone already mentioned the Daiwa.

Smallmouth Tackle Quandry
I like the idea of throwing a jerk bait on your smallmouth gear. It’s intended to provoke - and you may be successful coaxing smallmouth of a variety of sizes to strike... Could give you more clues anyway - -

Very lightweight pants?
Checkout Kuhl products. I like their durability, stretch, and they’re cool. Check out the Kontra Air, Konfidant Air. They have some zip-off convertible pants/shorts too. http://www.kuhl.com/kuhl/mens/pants/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI4eWY7uX82gIVFcNkCh3HQAzfEAAYASABEgIEnPD_BwE

What are your favorite rod brands?
After years of using many St. Croix Rods, I finally dumped them. I gradually fished a number of other brands and realized how tip heavy and poorly balanced many of the SC rods were. Especially as you go up in size. I prefer all of the below now: •Megabass •Dobyns •Kistler •Daiwa

Pflueger President alternatives
I’m a big fan of the Presidents myself, but have heard some strong reviews on the Daiwa Revros.

Power Shot
I saw him do this too, but didn’t see him say length/power of the rod for this. Would think it would need to be fairly long to sat vertical, light and a sensitive tip to detect bites. Thoughts anyone..?

Flippin’ rod recommendation 7.5-8.0”
I have a 7’-2” flippin rod which is a great rod in a lot of applications, but am thinking of getting a longer rod for certain situations in the 7’-6” to 8’-0” range. Flippin and Bubba-shotting. Although I’m looking for a longer rod, I also want a light rod weight, well balanced and very sensitive not just a meat stick... willing to spend a little money to get something worthwhile - $250-400 range. Suggestions..?

Rod recommendation for power-shotting
I like the AvidX but find it a little on the heavy/tip heavy side. Any knowledge of the Legend Tournament Bass 7’-6” MH “Lite Pitchin/Flippin?” Wondering if that would be a little less tip heavy than the AvidX, or better balanced and have the right sensitivity/power for power-shotting?

Rod recommendation for power-shotting
Which one of these might be best for this: •Daiwa Tatula 8’-0” Heavy Fast •St. Croix Avid X 7’-4” Heavy Fast •Kistler Helium 7’-1” MH XF

Best picks for monofilament
I use 10 lb Yo-Zuri Hybrid for my jerk baits. Not 100% mono but it is very strong, low stretch, great knots and very abrasion resistant (we have a lot of pike in our area and it helps). I use it for Jitterbugs and poppers too.

Where to buy 90mm Daiwa handle?
Will it work on other Daiwa models, i.e. Zillion, Steez, Fuego... in other words interchangeable? Or has to be for a Tatula? Thx

Latest Color Research (Bass Vision)
I have always heard that fish can see the color red until it gets a couple feet below the surface, then the fish lose their perception of the red and/or it grays out. Does this latest research address that at all?
