  1. I'm very happy with it. I have 5 Dobyns Champion rods, everyone one of them is a cranking model (684, 705, 736G, 765, 805). I prefer graphite cranking rods, so you've got the sensitivity of graphite but a slower moderate action that you want in a cranking rod.
  2. The time has come. The 2018 Fantasy Fishing league is now open. Group name: BassResource Password: BR2018 Come join in on the fun. It's free and the winner gets a $500 Circuit City gift card, courtesy of @Glenn
  3. I'm glad they found him. If only to bring closure to the family. God bless.
  4. White and bluegill are the only colors I use.
  5. Dobyns 705CB is what you want. I have this rod in the Champion series and it's my go to for basically any moving bait. It's very versatile. I prefer graphite rods, but go with whatever material you prefer.
  6. These guys make some nice looking jigs. https://www.siebertoutdoors.com/
  7. It's a good line. I like Sniper just a little bit more (it handles better). Can't go wrong with either though.
  8. This is from a guy I know that builds rods:
  9. I'm well aware of what you are referring to. I believe cabin fever has taken over your brain already. I own 4 Chronarch MGL's, 1 Metanium MGL, 2 Curado K series, 2 Curado I series, and 1 Curado 70 series. All of those Shimano reels have centrifugal braking systems with and an external "fine" adjustment dial. Not a single one of these reels has a single magnet anywhere inside of them. Trust me. As for line, use whatever you prefer. No single line casts further than another. A proper rod for the lure weight you are using will effect casting distance more than anything.
  10. No. The cast control knob is on the handle side, like all standard casting reels. No. There are no magnets in the Curado or Chronarch. As I stated before, the Curado and Chronarch both use centrifugal brakes and feature and external "fine" adjustment knob for the brakes.
  11. Both the Curado K and the Chronarch MGL have the internal centrifugal brakes that you can adjust and they do the majority of the braking, and then they have the external "fine" adjuster as well. Having owned both, I usually have my internal brakes set to one setting, and then I'll just use the fine adjuster on the outside to adjust for wind and different lure weights.
  12. How is it? Is it available to download on the PS4 through the Sony store?
  13. This. There are way too many variables in affect to be worrying about line diameter. In general, most fluoro's are thinner than mono. In general, every companies lines have different diameters and actual breaking strength vs listed strength. Because of your point, I went and looked up the ratings for some of my rods and some popular lines that people use. Rod: G Loomis GLX 853C JWR Rating: 12-16 pound line Trilene XT Mono - 12lb: .38mm Trilene XT Mono - 14lb: .40mm Trilene XT Mono - 17lb: .43mm Trilene Big Game - 15lb: .381mm Sunline Sniper FC - 12lb: .29mm Sunline Sniper FC - 14lb: .31mm Sunline Sniper FC - 16lb: .33mm Sunline Sniper FC - 20lb: .37mm Sunline Sniper FC - 25lb: .41mm Sunline Defier Mono - 15lb: .320mm Sunline Defier Mono - 22lb: .380mm Gamma Polyflex Copoly - 12lb: .33mm (Gamma claims 20 lb actual strength) Gamma Polyflex Copoly - 14lb: .36mm (Gamma claims 23 lb actual strength) Gamma Polyflex Copoly - 17lb: .38mm (Gamma claims 26.5 lb actual strength) Sufix 832 Braid - 30lb: .29mm Sufix 832 Braid - 40lb: .33mm Sufix 832 Braid - 50lb: .34mm Sufix 832 Braid - 65lb: .40mm Pro Pro Braid - 30lb: .28mm Pro Pro Braid - 40lb: .33mm Pro Pro Braid - 50lb: .36mm Pro Pro Braid - 65lb: .41mm So if I were to worry about what pound line I'm using on my rod, I'd have one heck of a time knowing where to draw the line. If my rod is rated for 12lb. mono and Trilene XT is my favorite mono, I'm looking at a .38mm diameter. However, if I wanted to stick with a .38mm diameter line, I could increase my line strength to 20 pound Sunline Sniper FC or even go up to 22lb. Sunline Defier mono! If I were wanting to use braid, I could use 50 pound Sufix or Power Pro and step down to a smaller line diameter. Even using your example, if my rod is rated for 15lb. diameter mono and I like Trilene XT, 14lb. XT gives me a .40mm diameter, which is the exact same diameter of 65lb. Sufix 832. The real reason a majority of rods break is: Manufacturer defect Damaged (during shipping, stepped on, pinched in a door, jammed into ceiling or truck bed, etc. Could break upon doing so or during extended use) Locked drag (will cause line or rod to break) High sticking/boat flipping
  14. Exactly one month until the first event on Lake Martin. Should we start a 2018 Fantasty Fishing thread? Looks like they haven't opened up the fantasy fishing registration yet on the Bassmaster website.
  15. I couldn't tell you the line rating on a single rod I own. It's just not important at all for freshwater bass applications.
  16. My Chronarch MGL's will bomb a crankbait out there with the new MGL spool, but I also use my XG MGL for pitching jigs, so that reel is very versatile if you have the right ratio for your needs. The Zillion SV doesn't hardly give you an advantage over the Tatula SV, in my opinion.
  17. I'm still trying to master it myself, but from my research of watching the pro's, here's what I've heard. Seth Feider says not to fill your spool as full as you normally do. I've heard other pro's say make one normal cast and put a strip of tape around the spool. This will prevent your spool from backlashing any deeper than where that tape is.
  18. Organized my Rage baits this weekend by type (Menace/baby menace, craw/baby craw, bug/magnum bug) and color. I also created a chart with my current inventory so I can keep track throughout the year. 90 total packs of baits. Don't judge me.
  19. He's sponsored by Missile jigs, so I would assume that they're made by Missile Jigs.
  20. Lake Anna in Virginia. Take 95 South.
  21. Ugly Sticks are a glass rod, hence the medium (slower) action.
  22. That's a sign of too small (tight) of a frame. I have a pair of glasses that give me a headache after a few hours because they're too tight on my head, so I understand what you're going through. Those are the Motu frames. And yes, sounds like your frames are too small as well.
  23. I bought the Costa Sunrise Silver Mirror lenses because we always have overcast days here in PA. I can wear these things clear until dark. I love them for low light conditions. They're a yellow based lens, with a silver mirror overtop of them. Even on overcast days with low light, I can still wear them. I prefer to wear sunglasses as much as possible because my eyes will water from taking a beating from the wind all day whenever I'm outdoors. These lenses allow me to wear glasses to break the wind from my eye's and still allow me to see. They look dark in these photo's because the mirror finish is reflecting the dark skies, but to look through them it's bright and clear.
  24. Zodias is going to be your best blank out of those. If you don't have a budget, the Expride series is phenomenal.
  25. Another vote here for the Dobyns 735. I was going to recommend the Sierra series. It's a good blend of quality and affordable.
