  1. Decided to just order the 80# Maxxum and sell my 65 to my partner. Hopefully my parts come in from Suzuki soon so I can get the boat together and on the water. Now to start saving for a Talon, my wife is gonna kill me soon haha.
  2. Just got off the phone with tackle warehouse, they are a great company. Ordered a Humminbird 999 combo with a ram mount and Navionics Premium to go with it. Now debating on fixing the control board in my trolling motor vs buying a new 80# Maxxum or getting a 12' Talon.
  3. It's definitely no slug that's for sure, with 2 guys and all our gear it will run at 55. I haven't had it to long yet so I'm not sure with just me and an empty boat.
  4. Good point on just taking it off, I'm gonna order my fish finder tomorrow then decide on trolling motor or talon
  5. Roger thanks for the info, I'm gonna try to squeeze in a Talon if not I'm gonna go with a 12ft over winter.
  6. I was just reading some forums on them and was leaning toward power pole for the durably and quietness. How do you like your 12' talon, there is not a lot of feedback out there yet? I looked into the spot lock but I like the speed out of a cable style trolling motor.
  7. Im pretty sure I have the room, now I just gotta decide Power Pole or 12' Talon
  8. I was checking out the 12', I think it would be a lot more useful but I've read a lot about the older ones and was leaning towards the power pole. But what info I can find on the 12' has me re thinking.
  9. Im going with an SI unit on the console I just wasn't sure about up front.
  10. The advance batteries are rated at 210 or 220 RC and i was looking at the 1198 but don't I need to be going a certain speed for the si to work. Im gonna have it at the console definitely. And I've been shopping around a lot to find the best deal. Im gonna head to bass pro in the morning after work to just check em out and see what one i like.
  11. Does it help and pay off to run another unit at the bow. I was looking at the Humminbird 959 hd di. And maybe the 998 or 999 at the console. I've got around 3500 saved up for the boat, so I'm weighing my options and I know a lot of guys have been in my shoes before.
  12. I plan on keeping this boat awhile, it was part of the deal selling my bass tracker to get it. I should have stated I love fishing shallow and that's why I wanted to stay aluminum and the power poles. I started fishing local tournaments and was thinking some size 31 batteries to get the job done all day, Hopefully. Is there gonna be a big difference between Advance auto size 31s that I can get for 100 each after 30% discount and the diehards for 230? Never been a deep kinda guy but try to fish everything. I think I'm sold on the 80lb minn kota, now to figure out my finders.
  13. Well first off my name is Josh and I'm new to the site and have been lurking around for some time now. I have a 2003 Triton v176 Magnum with a 115 Suzuki 4 stroke, love the boat but want to update it. It has a Minn Kota Maxxum 65lb bow mount that the control board went on, I've wanted to upgrade for a little so instead of fixing it I'm debating between the Maxxum 80 or upgrading to a 36v system for the longer run times and extra juice. Or should i fix this motor and buy a power pole. Do you guys think its worth the extra 5-600 between motor and battery? Now on to the fish finders I'm looking at the Humminbird 998 or 999 for the console, I want one up front but I'm not sure about funding for it right now. How many of you guys turn your console screen around when up front. Thanks for the help and input.
