  1. I like that!
  2. If you need a host/server you can use YouTube.com
  3. If we are talking a matter of opinions, then a full time guide would be considered a professional in his sport. Is it in everyone's opinion that an endorsement contract would also define a 'pro'? (Otherwise known on here as a sponcer, sponser, or sponcir. ;D)
  4. So why is fishing different than most every other sport? A man can fish local club tournaments, win money, and still be considered an amatuer. In just about every other individual sport, if you receive any cash winnings you are considered pro. This happened to me with surfing (many years ago). I entered a pro event under amatuer status, I accepted the cash prize and from then on I was ineligible for any amatuer events. So what makes you a pro at fishing?
  5. congrats! Whats the return for you? Entry fees paid for? ....... Free Jets? ;D
  6. Nuclear engineer/inspector - 10 years.
  7. So im in Wal-Mart today picking up some line and what do I see on the shelf? The trim tab for my engine....what were the chances of that? So now 6 bucks later Im grinding and blending away.
  8. Yeah Im going to trim it. I removed it this morning and now there is a big cavity under there on the cavitation plate. Im sure this would cause some sort of drag or issue. Ill be launching the boat tomorrow with the new setup and we will see how things are. Of course there will be a whole toolbag on board with spare prop and all (I think swim trunks should be with me as well). This engine actually has two anodes mounted on the side of the lower unit for cathodic protection. The pulling has been an issue since day one. Of course its like any dealership...they will hold onto it for a while to figure out the problem,,,Im not really interested in being landlocked right now. Its a nuisance and I know something is not right, but its not hurting anything. Besides I can make a hellacious starboard turn on a downplane with no effort....how cool is that ;D

    Very good!
  10. The small skeg that comes off of the cavitation plate on the lower unit, what is that for? I see a lot of motors on the market that dont have it. What would happen if I took mine off (06 Mercury 2 stroke 90). I got my new prop on and since we went with a slightly bigger diameter it doesnt clear that 'skeg' (I would be grateful to the person who informs on what the real name of this). This is the prop I want on the boat (as directed by Mercury, Nitro and many other people). I want to see what everyone elses input on this is before I go calling Mercury. Thanks
  11. Thats my wife too....If the muffler went out I think she would get bigger speakers.
  12. I have found that NOAA operates atleast 2 different sites and there is big difference in not only appereance but how data is broadcast to the public. Of course there is nooa.com but also weather.gov (not to be confused with .com) Ive always liked weather underground because they give you more user operable software (maps, radars, etc) so I can trend out my own forecasts and probablities of catching fish. Being here in Florida, weather controls our lives. Like avid said storms pop up with no warning and at times they can be ferocious. Especially if you find your self in the ocean or other large body of water like Okeechobee. Hell, anyone that lives on the east coast of this state knows the Weather Channel reporters by first name! And we all get scared a little when Jim Cantore shows up to your town to report.
  13. The easiest way to answer that question is to visit another forum or large site at the same time and compare load times. If another loads quickly, it may be this site.
  14. What weather sites does everyone use to plan a day on the lake? I use: http://www.wunderground.com/MAR/ and http://www.noaa.com/. Maybe there is something out there better that I havent seen....
  15. Im heavily tattooed and its a side of me most people dont see. (Sleeves, chest, legs, whole gambit). The only advise I can offer is make sure you an cover them up. Its eay to think that your life will never take you to a place that would require that or if they dont like it f**k em. Lifes not that easy. I started getting my tats about 12 years ago and I started going crazy until I landed a job (10 years ago) that would make or break me because of my ink. Ironically, no one tells me to not have them, they just treat me differently when they see them (like im a laborer). I still get them, but clothing covers them and life is much easier that way.
  16. Without getting into my background and all that, but this is somewhat along the lines of what I do for a living and Glenn is right about the intesity in getting the database established. It would be overwhelming. One single person could not do this in a feasible amount of time. The greatest expense will not come from the initial setup but the maintenance and future upgrades that would be required. The owners of this site shouldnt expect to pay less than 8-12k over a 5 year period to get what everyone would want. And even then, a handful of people would whine about it. Quite honestly, a stand alone program could be written in less time, less expense, and run 1000 times better. So in that case, the programmer stands to make a lot more money for his time and investment.
  17. All jokes aside maybe there should be something where members can make a 'donation' and become something like Charter Members. Paying members could be provided with a special icon and a gallery perhaps that allows them to upload personal photos with their profiles. I dont know if Glenn or the other guys actually have anything to do with the coding of the site but it really wouldnt be labor intensive and well worth the potential revenue.
  18. I cant stand anything that makes an 'unnatural' noise on a vehicle. Its drives my wifes nuts that she will be talking and then all of suddent the radio is of, shes being told 'hush, hush, wait, what is that sound' and I stare out into the cab with deep intent trying to figure out where the foreign sound is coming from....then I throw her empty water bottle onto the floor (you know the one that rattles in the cup holder). Ill be oiling the trailer in the morning.....
  19. Does it drive anyone else crazy to have a squeaky trailer? Does anyone throw lubricant on the leaf springs to knock the noise down? What else does eveyone do for trailer maintenance other than the normal on brakes, greasing bearings, etc.
  20. Thats not even fair to quote me if you arent going to use to whole phrase......For this kind of abuse I could hang out with my wife LOL
  21. I didnt read anyones posts and reactions to this topic starter but I just needed to get in here and put up my unneeded opinion: Holy S**T are you kidding me? He didnt earn his money and you wont listen to him? The only thing proven is that he will make more money fishing than you will ever see in your lifetime! You think that is handed to him and that he didnt earn his way for the past 20 years. That guy is one of the pioneers for the sport you get to watch on tv Saturday morning. Of all the dumb crap that gets posted on these forums yours has to be the most disrespectful and it would be nice to see him spit in your face for being a whiney little brat.
  22. How about a BS Meter that sends a 50,000 volt surge of pain through their mouse when they post/reply to something that they have no idea what they are talking about. Or even better, charge an annual membership so it will weed out some of the people that only post crap.
  23. It does have the internal. 99% of my fishing in this boat is freshwater. The only difference in these is the ability to read deeper and provide high detail at those depths. It reads somewhere around 2500ft, which is completely unnecessary for what I need but...it was a bit cheaper than the equivalent FW unit.
  24. I have the 339ci and I have no complaints since adding the fishing elite hot spots. Pretty easy to use considering the vast amount of features it offers.
  25. Im going to be getting a jack plate for the boat here in the next 6 weeks and I have one rather simple question about them?. Im looking at 6", 8", and 10" all with 7.5" travel. What purpose woudl a 10" serve over a 6". (Generally speaking)
