  1. Im sure everyone on here that has a sponsor can back me up on this: Loose the letters to sponsors, thay are very ineffective and your wasting your time. Would you sell a service/product to someone by mailing or emailing a letter? NO, you would call or meet! Get on the phone and befriend the person in charge of the pro-staff/team. At a minimum you are building a reputation with that person and his/her company. A letter does nothing and likewise with blindly sending a resume. A resume should be only sent in at the request of that person you have been speaking to! I now have 3 sponsors and only one of them have cared to see a resume (and that wasnt even a fishing resume they wanted). Want to find out if your marketable? Call a stranger and convince that person you are the asset they need! If you succeed, your on your way to being marketable....
  2. Cigarlover, Ill be sure to post some more pics of gators! ;D I am terrified of spiders...like a little girl terrified. Down here they are everywhere and thousands of different species. And most all of them bite, not a venoumous bite (outside of the obvious), and they ahve a hurting kind of bite (similiar to wasp, bee stings). Wanna see me scream and dance like a little girl...throw a spide on me (oh yeah, hopefully you can run faster scared than i can mad after that ;D) My other fear is a 5'7" brunette, 25-30 y/o, green eyes, D cups, yada yada. I just know something like that would completely wreck my life! :
  3. Them kind of girls are like mopeds.....fun to ride until your friends see you! GMAN, I do have more pics, mostly gators and then some other random things. Ill post them up tonight.
  4. muddy....thats the lunker Ive been hunting for all my life (and you guys thought I was going out for bass!) ;D ;D ;D ;D
  5. Since you guys liked thise, here is more: http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1170276741/0
  6. Seems everyone enjoyed the gator pics, so here is more of our local wildlife. This was all from today, the snake was on the rocks right next to the other pack of creatures. The photo with all the creatures doesnt even show everything...there was several more Iguanas right there, I just couldnt get everything into one photo. Oh yeah, this is all from Lake Ida in Delray, Florida. The fish is the biggest caught this morning @ 4# from my partner Wes. Just to rub it in a little to all the guys up north. Its 74 with blue bird skies today!
  7. So I was out fishing and started tying on some new tackle. As I did this the light wind pushed me into the bank and I immediately hear this low pitched hissing noise. Being that I have grown up in Florida I have heared two (water based) creatures do this before: Alligators and Cottonmouths. Now where I was at wasnt conducive to alligators..steep bank, no vegetation. So all in a moment I thought of a big cottonmouth laying next to the boat. If any of you have dealt with this snake before you all know that they are not only violent but often times will become an unwelcomed guest on your vessel. I slowly stood up and peered over and down onto the bank (this hissing hasnt stoped). To my suprise it was a gator, a baby, and she was wadded up into a small hole in the bank. I wish someone could have seen my face when I first heard the hissing and I didnt realize it was only a gator ( I think I pooped a little ;D). Later on in the day I ran into the exact same scenario (excpet this time it didnt scare me). I have never seen baby gators burrow themselves into holes in the bank (I know big ones do it for purposes of 'hibernating'). I did take a bunch of pics, here is two:
  8. Yes but it has to be on their newer equipment with the LowranceNET (NMEA 2000) capabilites.
  9. I got the chance to play with one a few days back as its what Im going to use to replace my current TM. They are nice. The best part is the low profile foot pad . After a long day on the water and feeling like Im in a Captain Morgan commercial all day, my back starts killing me. Pros: The remote range was very good. I could even control it by foot pad at the drivers helm. The prce is excellent: 620.00 retail for the 55 x 48" (12v) Its a Motor Guide it opens up a lot 'real estate' on the front deck. Ergonomical Foot control Added features are nice (battery meter, newly designed lockdown, digital, etc) Cons: Its new technology that will change in 18 months Remotes are extra Its a Motor Guide I would strongly recommend getting the newest model that has the Lowrance ducer built into it. Even if you dont use it now, there is a good chance you will later. Ill have mine on in the next couple of weeks and Ill post pics.
  10. Go somewhere that sells laptops (Best Buy, Circuit City, Office Depot, etc). They have LCD cloths for cleaning laptop screens. Its what I use on my LMS 339c and X96 and it works perfectly. You dont want the disposable wipes...you want the $10 cloth (paying 10 bucks for a rag seems just a crazy as paying 6 bucks for a can of air).
  11. I just put the pedestal seat/post on the back deck and sit the camera on the seat. The pics come out good to the point my wife and close friends dont believe I was fishing alone. You can either setup the tripod on the empty back deck or even go buy a seat post and attach the tripod to it. You wouldnt have to worry about folding the tripod out since it would be anchored to the post...that pegs into the deck.
  12. Thanks avid!

  15. If your buying hurricane clips at Home Depot, you must be a Florida Resident! ;D
  16. My post belonged to the other topic that is similiar to this (you know which one Im talking about).
  17. Yeah Im not understanding everyones grief about the resources and equipment these guys have available. Im willing to put a lot of money up that 90% of weekend fisherman couldnt catch more fish if KVD or Ike (or any other pro) gave them their boat, equipment (and whatever else everyone else thinks is unfair). The skills alone in using electronics effectively takes years of learning....and they dont catch fish(just like a range finder for yardage wont make a golfer hit a hole-in-one). I think everyone that feels that their skills are only limited to the amount of tackle or other equipment they have should go out as a spectactor to an elite event. Watch their cast distances, precise accuracy, and methodical presentations. Those things will remain in these competitors regardless of what tackle you give them. OC they did use to limit events to 10lbs of tackle. Bill Dance would actually put bricks in other guys tackle boxes before the 'tackle weigh in' as a prank.

Yeah in those cases one would have to decide if he can run faster scared than the other guy can mad!
  19. Thats what i need out on the flats in the everglades!!!!!!
  20. It may be too late with this post...but i use a pool pole (metal, collapses). it extends to 16' and collapses to 6' so it fits in the rod locker out of the way. The end is drilled out so you can add a push fork to it. I just used it today actually and I have NO problems with it at all.

Fishing Trip: Saturday morning I got up early , put on my long johns , dressed quietly , made my lunch , grabbed the dog , slipped quietly into the garage to hook the boat up to the truck ,and proceeded to back out into a torrential downpour . There was snow mixed with the rain , and the wind was blowing 50 mph ! I pulled back into the garage , turned on the radio , and discovered that the weather would be bad throughout the day . I went back into the house , quietly undressed , and slipped back into bed where I cuddled up to my wife's back , now with a different anticipation , and whispered , " The weather out there is terrible ! ! " She sleepily replied , " Can you believe my stupid husband is out fishing in that stuff.
