Good kayak lake if you only have a few hours and live in Lenexa.

I think the bucket fisherman took them all home when they accidentally caught one trying to catch a stocked catfish and the pressure on that lake is ridiculous. The first 3 years that lake was open to fishing it was bad ass, unless you don't like catching fish on a spinnerbait or frog. Anyway sorry to disappoint.

Drum in NOLA is redfish. Drum in Kansas is a freshwater redfish, lol.

Ranger RT 178 vs Stratos 176 VLO
As bluebasser said I roll a RT178 with a Yamaha 70. The one thing everyone says when they get in my boat is how stable it is for an aluminum and it doesn't sound like an aluminum. It will run 35 consistently, been as high as 39 with 2 guys and the right wind. Ranger also foams the hull. Handles rough water pretty good up to 20mph. i have fished 3 out of it a few times without any issues. I'd probably stay away from the Etec mostly because I know a guy that has been without his boat the last 2 summers. Partially because only select shops have the equipment to work on or diagnose it, and the shops that can work on them take 30 days to get it looked at. Then you have to wait for parts, once they get the parts you gotta wait for them to fit it back in the schedule. Not trying to get flamed here, just stating facts. if you have any specific questions on the RT feel free to PM me.

Make sure your boat and trailer are clean and dry. Don't really have to worry about your livewell since the aquatic nuisance nazi can't climb up and look, lol.

Post up when you're needing a back seater and I bet one of the guys will join you. Just like Brian said, but peg the weight. They like a frog also. Those fish are either deep in it or right on the edge once you figure that out it's game on. If your there long it will change. @Advantage uses like a 6oz weight and punches through the thickest stuff he can find with a pitboss.

Next time try a craw or beaver. The fish we caught on Sunday night were fat and can't believe someone hasn't weighed a 5 plus out of there yet this year.

My new one has two different backs, I used a dremel on my old one and drilled it out.

That's acceptable.

pffffffff. Lucky you didn't lose it looking for the net.

I've caught a 7+ out of there and multiple 5's before it got so much pressure, always after dark.

Shore bound changes the game also. They love a frog at Lenexa, but you may only catch small fish. I've had good luck from first light to about 9 every time (on different lakes) I've been out early lately, but not on a frog.

Part One: Suggest A Topwater Lure
You don't recommend a pompadour? Unbelievable. I guess you don't like violent topwater strikes? I guess they do have a flaw, you catch so many fish and they hit it with so much force the wings need to be bent back in place.

Melvern is still real stained and all the fish I caught were skinny. Topwater bite was good at first light until about 8:30. It's always fun when you get multiple fish trying to eat a topwater bait. Big and noisy was the key, I highly doubt they would see any finesse bait.

Of all those baits you only need one of them.

A 5 pounder in the water is a 3.5 in the boat, just saying. Ask the BA. I'm not saying it wasn't a 4 or 5 tho. I'll never forget shauer saying "drum, no smallmouth that's my PB, a 5 pounder" weighed 3lb 5oz. lol <5 boat flip! Exception: spinning gear and jerkbaits with light line. I've seen more fish lost trying to net it than boat flipping, but we can argue that all day long.

They told me 25 mph is the mark in the warm months.

I'd say turn South on 75 and wear your life jacket. They were showing the Melvern lake level to 7.31 feet high with low discharge yesterday.

What are you catching em on?(post pic
The sexy squeaker big head wobbler right there ^^^^^ They were eating the Ivy big head wobbler and the bull herring on Saturday.

I think it's time to debut the sunfish.

You know now, I learned ya. I'm pretty sure it's the chartreuse in the ivy they like, if you used a chartreuse trailer on a crappie they would eat it better than the straight crappie. and your little soft plastic paddle tail isn't going to draw the "big bites" a bullshad or other big swimbaits are going to draw. Wolf isn't really a good lake to compare since those fish all seem to be between 2 and 3.5lbs.

They'll eat a ned rid too, but it ain't the same when they eat it. if you've ever had a smallmouth come unglued on a BS you'll know what I'm talking about.

Advantage and I had a pretty good day at Wolf on Saturday. Started real slow and thought we were going to get kicked off for sure. Once figured out what they'd eat it was non stop. Quality was good and the wipers came out to play. Only caught one LM. I proved they'll eat a bull herring.
